  1. FML, Damn ankle! Jesse - Just get your scooter for the lower stages, we'll figure out a way to get you and your scooter up to the top for the other two. -Aaron I got it figured out for you Jesse
  2. I was out at Spartan Tactical range earlier today for reasons unrelated to the 3gun match. Jim and John showed me a few of the areas where 3 gun stages will be held, the lower 7 stages are on some great terrain (creek bed, rolling hill, etc). There is even a dry stacked stone wall in part of one stage. The hill for the stages on the top side of the range is no big deal, you cant drive a cart up it, the climb is the equivalent of climbing 3-4 flights of stairs but there is a 1000 yard view at the top. Overall this should be a cool match ...
  3. We have a lot of the score and timer comparisons mid stage at our matches. There are 3 or 4 people who always want to know how fast certain people shoot the stages. One week we started adding 5 seconds to a persons time when we would tell the interested parties. The amazing thing is they shot slower. One example was Shooter A shot a stage in 19.54 seconds with 0 points down. Shooter B who is a timer junkie was told Shooter A shot the stage in 24.5 seconds. Shooter B commented to Shooter A that they took too long and proceeded to shoot the stage. Shooter B ended up with 2 points down at 21 seconds and told Shooter A again they were taking too much time being accurate. The end of the night Shooter A had beaten Shooter B... Moral of the story is if you tell yourself (mentally) that you need to shoot better than a certain time/score you will most likely shoot better than the time/score. However if you have bad information you will still shoot faster than the incorrect time, but just not as good as you could have. It is far better to know your own times for splits, transitions, moving to boxes and taking a shot etc. (from practice sessions) then you can calculate your own rough par time for a match stage and try to beat that time.
  4. My number was 13 last year when it was tested, my Doc had looked up the pediatric level which is 10 pp Um and called and told me my level was high. After he found the adult level was 20 pp Um he called and said "disregard the earlier call"
  5. The division as the rules are posted is Tac Irons, which one would assume from the description is Iron sighted rifles only. I expected to see a Tac Limited division but there is not a division for that.
  6. Our club hosts about 60 indoor matches a year. Most of the time the swingers, drop turners, etc are activated by a pull cord; to keep the swingers in place (because staking them down to concrete is a bit tough) we welded up some steel skids to bolt to the bottom which extends the width and depth of the base.
  7. That is what happened in Charlotte. Money from the traffic light cameras were supposed to go to the school system. It turned out that the majority of the money was actually going to the traffic light camera company. If I remember correctly, the city was actually losing money on each ticket written, and there was a law suit over the money owed the school system. That and the city of Charlotte over looked that minor detail that 80-90% of the ticket proceeds for any moving violation (whether considered criminal or civil) were to go into the state school fund by legislative mandate. Last I had heard a few years ago Charlotte yanked all the cameras etc.
  8. That is why I like all ports 6' high We will have a milk crate for you to stand on at the next match. Hmmmm maybe I can borrow Maurice's chainsaw and make my own ports You could if I can borrow it for the short ports, all you little guys always get even with me by making me shoot under a 3' high barrier.
  9. I thought you could have a stippled back-strap in SSP? Would'nt that be similar to changing grips? I am pretty sure stippling anywhere else makes it ESP, since that stippling (in the front strap for example) would be a permanent modification. As for stippling the M&P. The removable backstrap is considered the "grip" of the gun. I had this clarified by Robert Ray prior to the 2009 IDPA Nationals. If you search the IDPA forum you can find the written clarification.
  10. That is why I like all ports 6' high We will have a milk crate for you to stand on at the next match.
  11. I agree with you Duane, Bruce Lee was a practice fanatic, however he was not married to any one type of form.
  12. We just had this discussion at a local match yesterday. Glad to hear the shoes are good to go according to RR.
  13. I like going to the eye doctor this AM and finding out my vision is in the top 1% for people my age (44). No glasses or contacts for another year !!!
  14. We had an instance like this recently at a match in Alvarado, TX. After 10 days of sleuthing the firearm was found between 2 compartments in the range bag. I hope it is not a thief in this case.
  15. Hi Steve, If you live in Mansfield there are plenty of matches to shoot at. Johnson County Shooting Sports Assoc. (JCSSA) has a monthly USPSA match on the first Saturday of each month. Dallas Action Pistol Shooters (DAPS) has a monthly USPSA match at Elm Fork in Dallas. Additionally there are 10-12 IDPA matches in the DFW area each month.
  16. Glad to hear you got your gear back...
  17. You may try the RCMP information section on firearms and traveling to Canada with firearms. http://www.rcmp-grc....t/index-eng.htm There is a lot of information in both English and French. Firearms Declaration form for Non-residents of Canada: http://www.rcmp-grc....re/pdfs/909.pdf
  18. I know my club by itself host 8 regular matches per month. We can have 10 if these is a 5th Sat or 5th Thursday. We are in Fort Worth, Texas. And very soon we will be hosting 10 regular matches a month. Just need 2 more MDs Cross Timbers IDPA has around 100 members, Collin County IDPA also has around 100 members.
  19. Good info for all. Once your hearing is lost it is not regained.
  20. I researched this about a year ago and the 92G (decock only) uses a slightly different slide than the 92F (decock / safety). My conclusion was there is no simple parts swap to make a 92F into a 92G.
  21. But wait... did you break in the barrel when you first bought the gun.... Nevermind that is more snake oil sales On a serious note I have switched from Moly to Jacketed and back several times without ill effect.
  22. I was at a match recently that had a prepaid post card attached to each prize. The post card was a typed thank you not back to the person / company that donated the item. The prize winner simply signed the post card and put the card in the collection box at the match. I thought this was a nice touch and a good reminder for participants to "Thank" those who donate the prizes.
