  1. Jimmy said it all, sorry to hear about DQ.
  2. I was given a rock chucker, and I use it to do all my .223 resizing (Other prep in between), then back to the 550 for priming, charging, and seating. works great!
  3. I use mobil one detergent oil on all of my firearms. works great!
  4. Doug & Big Kahuna, I was in the exact same boat as you guys, and I assure you I am sending prayers your way. I scheduled an appointment to meet a surgeon after almost 1 year off and on, and 6 months SOLID back pain. Or, let me say excruciating back pain. I was completely debilitated, then by some stroke of luck, or the hand of the big guy in the sky. One day I woke up and was just slightly sore. The next day I was completely healed! I kept my appt. just to see if this happened, and he told me, "yes". there is hope, kyle.
  5. Always liked the gunny
  6. Recently I tried some "Prep-all" from the car paint section of wally world (next to the acetone) I poured some on finished rounds, and dusty dull brass, and some oily resized rifle brass. All at different times I might add... "tumbled" them in a beach towel by hand for a min or two, and was very impressed with the result.
  7. Not familier with CMJ, but if it has a rounded profile this is expected. The seater is touching past the tip most likely, and any variation past this point tworad the end will show on the final COL.
  8. Your very welcome, but I'm sure the match was all DOWNhill from there!
  9. You may thank yours truly for the 2009 boat stage. I didn't hear the first bad thing about it, except how intimidating it was. We were very skeptical about using this stage, as we thought it would be a bottleneck, but it turned out we were wrong, and it went smoothly. Glad you all liked it. Watch Jerry shoot it at http://s605.photobucket.com/albums/tt133/kyle03865/
  10. When loading rifle, I just listen. You can hear the powder running down. a very pleasant shhhhhhhhhhhh sound, when it stops....upstroke.
  11. Greg, there will be NO bitching and moaning from me! Just smiles and powder smoke!
  12. You don't have to be sorry. Please show me where in the rules, cause I could not find it. The official IDPA rulebook is MY only guide to the sport. If it is not there, then see my "gray area/close call goes to the shooter statement" And, Robert, or Ted were not present at my match.
  13. One of my safety officers has the same or similar pistol, so he was familier with the particular firearm and saw it on the unload and show clear command. Thanks for coming out Steve, I hope you come by one of our local matches also.
  14. I was the MD, and I checked the rule book then. And now with an electronic text search. I searched "spring" and springfield ported barrels was the only hit. I searched "recoil" and only ported barrels are mentioned again. No place in the official rule book does it mention using "spring systems" to reduce recoil. Only "weight" is directly mentioned as illegal to the sport. The division was "enhanced" service pistol. The division itself mainly consist of full size 1911s in 9mm anyway. I had the competitor disassemble their firearm, so I could observe the mechanism. It looked just like the double spring system in my ultra compact 1911 that I regularly carry for self defense. It was made of steel and without weighing it, felt to weigh less than a solid steel guide rod would. I deemed it legal. To me, this is a "gray area" just like a close grease ring scoring call....it goes to the shooter.
  15. I'm just gonna shoot it however they tell me to.
  16. Match looks to be as good as ever. All seems to be in place. Hope everyone has a safe trip down/up.
  17. I had been using the frankford arsenal polish for years, and decided to grab a bottle of NuFinish at the store last night. WORKS GREAT! I am very impressed with the results, and will probably never use the other stuff again.
  18. I seem to stick with the plan pretty well, that is until..... my gun jams, or I have to take a make up shot or two (SS and CDP so every shot counts) then everything I was gonna do is gone to hell (my meltdowns these days), and I can't seem to recalculate on the move. (sorry, tangent over) To answer your question. Shoot every match you can, the more matches, the better you will be at them. Soon, the sound of the buzzer will just mean time to start shooting (instead of MELTDOWN time)
  19. If you like shooting then you'll like it here too. Welcome
  20. I use the CED 7000, and have no complaints. 2 years now.
  21. I'm weary of any animal as large / or larger / stronger than myself, and smaller ones that contain venom. Pretty sure I'd feel the same way about zombies as they would have both of these traits.
