  1. Thanks 1911ers, I will proudly wear my title as member number 78. You know it's gotta be a good thing if it has survived, I mean flourished this long!
  2. I broke in a new 45, shooting 1,000 rounds. All shots were done on 15 yard bill drills. I started winning after that. As a standard rule of my practice, I always shoot targets 15 to 20 yards away. When a match comes up, and most of the targets from point blank to 10 yards, it's like cheating.....almost.
  3. I'm gonna stick with a real scattergun. I'll take a bruised shoulder over carpel tunnel. fun til I started cramping up.
  4. I'm on bored as well, and +1 on that recordable TV. Now I can skip the other part of TV I hate.....commercials.
  5. Great to have you on board Dan. Sorta like Jim was saying. I travel around and try to shoot in as many competitions as I can. By far and large it is IDPA, but I have been hooked on 3gunnin lately. I'd also like to try bianchi. USPSA is a lot of fun. Glad to have another participant Dan, keep shootin. Kyle.
  6. I'd like to submit my application: CDP event: http://www.idpa.com/matchresults/2008/2008_mvsa.pdf Pics of my precious: Even my production gun is a "zero plastic" aluminum frame gun.
  7. My first major one also. BTW, We have shot together at Hot Springs a couple of times. See you there

    Titegroup?

I use the 4.2gr over 124 plated out of my sig 229 to make minor. It is over listed data, but I have found no problems with it.
  9. I have been very pleased with my progression via handgun, getting bumped to CDP expert (and beating local masters now) after only 1 year of competition. But for 2009 I'd like to become proficient with rifle/shotgun. And, shoot more uspsa (only one match sofar) .....dang I liked that uspsa.
  10. I switched from w231 to clays, and do not regret it. Feels softer, shoots cleaner. I was pleased, and I think you would be too. edit: Oh, Yeah, full size 1911 .45, 230gr plated, 4.1 clays
  11. I really like the shotgun, but I have to force my face lower than I should to get a good sight picture. Anyone know where to get taller sights? Just 1/2" taller would be more comfortable. I do have the rear rail to mount some kind of "ghost ringish" type rear, but I will need something taller in the front to match. Fiber optic front please. ideas, and places to get? Anything thats available I would like to check out. thanks .....In the past I just prefered a rib with a fiber. If that helps. But anything taller is what I want.....
  12. You might consider sandbagging that pistol just to make sure the sights don't need adjusting. Your "high right" group may very well be dead on, but your sights are off. Confirm this before changing anything about your technique, you may be doing everything right as it is a very good group.
  13. Well I filled out my app, dropped it in the box, and will be on my way the 27th from Louisiana. I've done some (4-5) local 3-gun events, but this will be my first big one. I'm really pumped up.
  14. As well as a relaoder, you WILL eventually need a chronograph! Otherwise it's like loading in the dark. I consider this "as necessary as" any other equipment I own when working up loads.
  15. I traded up my mini for an AR, but that was before I competed at all. Glad I did, I like it.
  16. FNH SLP Mark 1, 12 gauge. Gigantic bonus from work. Got to hear my 6yo son tell me it was the "best christmas ever", and that I was the "best dad ever". Merry Christmas.
  17. Saw you on television wed night. The IRC on the outdoor channel. I told my boy, Theo Carter, I shot with him!

  18. ...uh.. according the the Sig website your 229 has a 3.9 inch barrel. It's physically bigger than a G23/G19. I don't how you get sub compact jokes, it's barely a compact. In fact, it's nearly as big as the M9, in military form it's known as the M11. Or do you have a SIG 230? Even the breechface is less than 3.9 inches, so maybe sig got it wrong????????? http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/1001836ns3.jpg/
  19. I shoot a sig 229 (2.75" barrel) in production uspsa, and in SSP idpa. I have heard some "sub compact" jokes about my choice of firearms, but it's a workhorse. so yes.
  20. Please update when/where one is cause I want one too! thanks.
  21. Got the fn mk1 today, Thanks for all the replies. It fit me, was cheaper than the benelli, and a guy who had each of them said go FN, so.......now to practice those reloads.
  22. Boy does that take me back! Now that I think about it, I am having just as much fun now as I did then. I enjoy new shooters. I still feel like I am a new shooter, even though I am helping run miculek idpa.
