  1. Check out Morris Metal Works, John Morris. I belive he is in Dallas or Denton. He is a friend, and a shooter, and a whiz with metal. It's worth talking to him anyway. If he can't do it he'll let you know.
  2. So, bbbean, What do you think of the econo rack? I'm eyeballing it myself.
  3. I resize/deprime on a single stage press, then I clean, trim, chamfer, and on the 550 I just prime, powder, and seat. I use a medical examination glove on my left hand, and just dob the very tip of my finger in some Mobil 1, rub it around to disperse it on my thumb, index, and middle finger. Then pick up a brass, and just rub my fingers around it as I place it in the shell holder. To remove the oil, I just dump the brass on an old bath towel, splash some "prep-all" on them, and do a quick manual tumble to remove it. I don't have to remove corncob from the flash holes with this method. But, you gotta find what works for you.

    Bike Skills

Hats off to those folks. More skills on a bike than I shall ever know.
  5. Selling drugs man! as a pharmacist of course , and the fact that I paid off all of my debts, means a lot of extra cash to blow!
  6. What an asshat. Might do to put up a CCTV camera somewhere on a motion activation, AND get some AR500 steel. Oh, wait, they'd probably shoot the freaking camera 78 times also.......sigh.
  7. I had 10 loads brought in. the Dumptruck guy said his truck held 14 yards. It is probably 15 feet across the bottom and tops out at 8 feet. As far as length, I'm guessing ~40 feet long. I finally got around to taking some photos from my plane. Look and you can see the MGM steel. There is still a lot of trees to cut, but I am waiting for a burn ban to lift, so I can burn the pile I've already made before I continue. OH, and thanks for all the congrats, I didn't think I'd ever be so proud of a pile of dirt.
  8. Figured I'd post this here as it may very well benefit my shooting skills. Story: I started in April 2010 235 lbs, moved to the country and decided to walk around the "block" one night. It took about 2.5 hours, measured the next day it was 5 miles. Decided to walk it the next night the other way / backtracked. I liked the way it felt to walk, so I started doing it every night. After one month, it got to be a little boring, so I started throwing a little jogging in, say to the next telephone pole, or that mailbox up there. Just a few hundred yards and I was winded. Changed my diet some, by some I mean like an apple instead of a snickers bar, or some popcorn instead of chips, and not piling it on for supper. And, not "out to eat" as much. By the end of June, I had lost 35 lbs, down to 200 (haven't weighed that in 13 years), so I continued to increase the jogging increments little by little. I found that I was no longer getting winded, but that my legs were burning were the reason for my rest/walking periods. Weight loss was never really the goal, I just wanted to be healthier, and it turned out as a great side effect. I have since cut the distance down to 3 miles, followed by some upper body stuff on a Total Gym "Chuck Norris Machine" as I call it. I typically do 4 nights a week, some weeks 5, some 3, just depends on whats going on. So anyway, last night I warmed up and stretched a little bit, then I ran 2 miles without stopping, or becoming overly winded. I've never done this even in my youth, and it feels really good. Seems like it may be an advantage after a long 3-gun course that finishes with long range rifle while I'm supposed to be overly winded.
  9. On my SLP from time to time the rear sight got flipped down (fixed that now, thanks JB Weld), and the fiber on my front is pretty high (1/4" above stock). When it happened I had trouble hitting, but then again, I never practiced with it down, so I don't know if there would be a remedy for that or not. my .02
  10. I use just the right amount of crimp without any issues, also many thousands.
  11. Oh, the suspense is killing me. Over the last 3 weeks waiting for mine, I have prepped 3,000 rifle brass for realoading....
  12. This reminds me. Do not try and fly with sack. You must put it inside of a taped up box. Airlines do not take the same care as I do. They dumped all of my gear all over the moving belt. I was very upset. It is always a pain to fly with my guns. Not on my airplane, we fill the back seat with the guns and ammo, then throw all of our clothes in the cargo hold. I have never flown commercial, probably never will.
  13. Cool Matt, I appreciate the offer. When is the next "event"?
  14. Thanks for the input everyone, but this is one of those topics where there is no right answer. Six of one, and a half dozen of the other, so I'm gonna try a 6 inch at this point. Whether or not that is the right decision I'll have to figure out on my own. If I try out a 5 inch later, and find that I can burn down stages with it, then I'll just get a 5 inch later. I'm sure I can sell a custom 6 inch easily with a mimium loss. At this point I want to try out the 6 inch offering from Matt Cheely, with a fluted bull, and lightned slide. THAT GUN TURNS ME ON! Just gotta scrape up the down payment at this point. Thanks everyone for your help in my decision.
  15. If you'd accept a payment plan, I might could swing the scope! Now, please tell me WHY you don't like 6 inchers?
  16. I've shot a G34, I have a G17, so I can feel the difference in those. I have shot the snot out of a 1911 .45acp single stack, the last few years. I don't have a classification (seems I shoot 3 or 4 matches then switch divisons), but comparing scores it seems I am a solid B class shooter. I'm productioned to death. Gonna put that up for now. Single Stack, not so much do I want to put it down, but start to practice things like movement more instead of reload, reload, reload, reload, done. Limited seems the next logical step for me. I'm just ready to try it out, and I don't want my equipment to hold me down. I'm sure this won't be my last gun, but it will be my next one. So, just gathering info, I'll do my own comparisons later. Until then, I just got to take you guys word on it. So, by all means keep it coming.
  17. Aight. Gonna be .40 (thanks for the help guys ) After some serious searching/reading, 6 inch "fat free" seems to be the way to go here. If not, tell me why. Options I know I want - 2011, .40 cal. - Long, Flat, Light, crisp, trigger. - fiber adj sights - 100% reliable Now, Options I'm not sure about. - changeable breechface? Seems I saw something about that, what are they available on? Do I really need this? My SS is showing some signs of erosion, and has me concerned about a high round count in a future gun. - Grip, aluminum vs. polymer. I really like the way a "sandpaper tape" grip feels better than a polymer, so I'm thinking aluminum. I'm just wondering Pro's/Cons to each. Weight issues? Your feelings? - 9mm top end, can anyone offer this, or just certain smiths? - Balance options. Seems if I go 6 inch, I'm hearing you want a bushing barrel, with a short dust cover. Is this a universal thought, or would I want to consider a bull barrel/short dust cover, or bushing/long dust cover, or Do you think it best to beef the end of the gun out all the way bull bbl/full length/tungston rod etc...? - Finish. Ion bond, blued, brushed stainless....opinions? Durability? Something I don't know? - Cost. Well, it's not an open gun, so cost is no factor if there is something here that I'm not thinking about, by all means fill me in. Also, I've seen some good looking offerings from Cheely, Freedom GW, and Brazos Custom. Anyone else I should be shopping around with? I want to make the best informed decision, so let me have it all please!
  18. Something I ran into recently that deals with this is targets at an angle. I was shooting out of an RV camper down at some head shots at about a 45 degree angle, and I was aiming at the top edge of the head as always, but 3 of my hits were low under the chin of the target, and counted as misses! When angled that 2 inches becomes more like 4. Hard way to learn that lesson, but it was the best way, as I'll never forget it! To answer your questions simply....Aim high.
  19. I started with a Sig, can't go wrong there. Welcome!
  20. Phase 4 complete, it turned out taller than I expected, but should settle some. It is not as long as I imagined, but it will certainly retain bullets good enough
  21. I won a large shooters connection bag a couple of times, and that is what I use. Good quality too! I use one for my flight bag also.
  22. Thanks for the feed back gents. .40 it is! Now, 5 inch gun, or 6?
  23. This I did not know. Thank you, my brain is working correctly again, and churning up some good thoughts.
