  1. Find a youtube video explaining all of this. That's how I did it the first time, Oh, and don't beat yourself up to bad. If you don't try, you won't learn. Some lessons must be paid for.
  2. When I built my shooting range, I told the neighbors that if they ever heard the shooting stop, to come over and check on me. I only have one neighbor within a "concerning" distance, so I lucked out there. But, my guess is that if they are "complainers" already, then they will be no matter what you do. I'd just shoot during normal business hours, and as long as your not breaking any laws, then do not worry about them. Hope you find a solution though, as I absolutely LOVE shooting at home!
  3. Ended up going with the Titan, just seemed flatter. Recoil reduction was the same to me, but the sight just bounced a little less with the titan.
  4. In my few years on this planet I've noticed (and seen evidence) that if you take 100 people, whether they be preachers, doctors, cops, teenagers, whatever, and put them together and observe, then there are gonna be 2 or 3 of the bunch that are just hopeless and rotten. I keep trying to find less of them though!
  5. I shot with Tori at 09 ProAm, she's a real sweetheart.
  6. Sorry Kyle, just looking back over the posts and see this. Did you find it ok? Yea, I finally found myself not being a dunce I had a busy day at work today
  7. When I learned to fly an constant speed prop, I also learned where this saying came from! Same thing for me, 32 years old, heard it all my life, never knew the origin. Good stuff man!
  8. I'm on the North end of the state, welcome, where you located?
  9. I'm in the "some of both" section as well. When I started competition, my factory rifle, remained factory for about 1 match.
  10. Looks like you are gonna have a "pulling session" I only laugh, because I've had a few myself.
  11. Spend the first month reading before you spend a penny, this will save you some $$$. Also, if your going for specifically USPSA loads, MOST of us w/9mm prefer a 147gr, traveling >850 fps this is the floor for minor power factor, but alot of us also shoot 125gr going >1000fps. Heavier going slower is more of a pushy feel, and lighter going faster, is more poppy. But, you have to make power factor. Oh, and don't load 500, or 1000 of anything yet!!! If you get something wrong, you'll have 499 bad rounds! Load in small batches at first. Federal primers are softer, CCI are harder, if your running lightened springs in the fire control mech, and having light strikes, then you don't want to be finding that out at a match. Buy some test bullets in like a 100 pack, and figure out what is right for you, go to a match, and talk to someone who reloads, and see if they'll let you try out whatever they are shooting, might feel a ton better than yours, and change your mind. But, you'll feel like a dunce if you do this, and you've got 3,500 of what you thought was better at home! It's a learning curve involved in relaoding, don't get distracted, and it is a very rewarding hobby. Ask anything you need here, 3 people will tell you to search, and it is a good idea, but someone will answer you anyway. This forum is a great resource. Oh, and I'll be trying Black Bullets next, and I've shot a load of Montana Golds, and I started with Rainier waaay back years ago. Take care, load safe, shoot safe!
  12. I checked out Jamie's Vortex, and a Z6i at the texas match, and glass for glass, I couldn't tell a difference 15 hours apart. The Z6i had a much brighter dot, however, Jamie's battery was dying. I am giving the Vortex a serious consideration when I decide to go with some glass.
  13. Well I'd certainly be interested! Let me know if others chime in, and also if it'd be sooner than later.
  14. You might check out Clark Custom Guns in Princeton, LA take exit 44 off of I-20, go west down Highway 80 ~~10 miles-ish, look for the signs on your left. When you leave, keep driving west, you'll hit the interstate again. I know they have a variety of powders there, you may want to call ahead to check it out, but it wouldn't be too far out of your way. Good luck, OH, also, maybe Cash-n-a-flash pawn shop off of N. Market in shreveport stocks some powders, again you'll have to call for availability. Hope this helps. edit: Saw your name, and thought maybe heading there from Ruston, but if from Pineville, the shreveport option may yield results.
  15. What's your application? It is relative to the answer. edit: OH, and welcome
  16. Nope, works like a dream. I also use the pad of my thumb, I think..
  17. I can't argue your reasoning there, but the question of target presentation at "this match" is what I'm curious about. If targets are contrasted, and within 350yds, I'm running my EoTech, if outside of these 2 realms, I'll go with some magnification.
  18. OK, here is a question the past 30 minutes of reading this thread didn't produce an answer to. Will no magnification be a competitive option in Pro/tac division? I saw where far targets will be ~300 yards which is well within the reach of my eyeballs. Past that range, magnification starts to really be more of an advantage. If targets are well contrasted for the naked eye, then I may just leave the glass at home. What you guys throwing this party say?
  19. Hey guys, the gas tube pin (the ONLY freakin part that I didn't put in this upper myself ) fell out at the Texas 2gun this weekend, and the gas tube rotated 90 degrees, and turned my Limited AR15 into a single shot. This silly little pin cost me a very good finish at this match. So, I'm changing out the gas block to an adjustable while I've got it apart, but I WANT TO MAKE SURE that I put the gas tube in correctly! Please share your knowledge, my search-fu came up weak this time. thanks, Kyle
  20. Sorry, but if your looking for a "small amount of fun" you're in the wrong place..... IT'S A BARREL OF FUN! Welcome
