  2. Figured I'd update here as well (posted on grip tape thread also) I removed the old tape, filled in the cracks with epoxy, sanded good, masked, then epoxy followed by grit application, Funny how much it reminded me of making "glitter & glue" pictures in kindergarten
  3. So, I did a grip angle reduction. So, I had to JB weld on my dawson ice magwell. Then, I did the sand, epoxy, grit treatment. Feels really good, and I don't forsee this slipping at all.
  4. Welcome, this becomes an obsession
  5. I do it the politically correct way
  6. might try heating the ring up before pushing thru, I changed mine to green also, but that was years ago, and I can't remember having any issue. As cheap as fibers are, just give it a try!

    Mail

I send all my monthly bill payments electronically thru my credit union. It is not an "autodraft", rather I pick who, when, where. If no electronic system for the receiving party (now, only the trash man for me), the post office mails a check for me. Doesn't cost me a penny extra, in fact, I don't even have to buy a stamp, or waste a check. takes all of 5 minutes total each month to pay ALL of my bills. no gas, no stamps, no envelopes, no hassle, just click who I want to pay, and type the amount, then, presto! Might want to check into it, for those of you who haven't yet, your banking establishment might offer such services for free.
  8. Go to Lowes or Home depot, there you will find a large selection of Knee pads for flooring and such. You can try them out right there on the floor. I got some Gel knee pads this way that are made for long term use, and they are a DREAM to kneel on! I couldn't imagine anything being better. Good luck, hope you find something.
  9. Likely that the whole gun is lighter during dryfire (no ammo), so it may be a tactile illusion
  10. It's still stinging some, but better now. I've been doing some stretches along with mild exercises, as well as the arm splint, and pills. I feel as if I'm making some progress, but dry fire still hurts pretty good, I'm being careful not to over do it.
  11. On my SLP, I put a 1/4" riser under my front sight, and bought the largest adjustable rear sight blade midway offered (I JB welded it up, so it wouldn't get knocked down agian in a match), and mine are now easy to aquire, and DEAD ON! good luck
  12. Grip tape and lotion currently, real good. Tape is wearing off, so I'm gonna try the whole "epoxy + grit" application. Just ordered the "grit" last night.
  13. My 3rd solo flight in an airplane. I take off, climb to 500 feet, then POP, followed by a neverending WHOOOOOOOOOSH sound. I knew I'd lost something, so after I pulled most of the seat out of my buttcrack, I realized that the plane was still flying, and all control surfaces were working. I figured I'd lost one of the landing gear, or maybe a panel off of the bottom. I completed the flight, and only after landing at my destination, and stopped, I realized the top door latch had popped open (my instructor had always shut the door before that flight) I hadn't latched it correctly. Still was the longest OH, S**T monment I've ever had.
  14. Ok, finally got around to it. JB kwik, and a popsickle stick. I sanded out the inside of the magwell pretty good, also the bottom of the frame.
  15. As long as your customized magwell has the right dimensions, then the insert should clip right in.
  16. I'm a DIY kinda guy, most of my work aint too pretty, but I bet It'd feel good to a blind man.
  17. I have some dummy rounds made up without primers, but I only use them for mag loading (keep the chamber empty) After reading this thread, I'm gonna drill out the flash holes so that they are the same size as the pocket. Just in case
  18. The armband, and a steady diet of non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs has helped a lot, but I believe that time/rest is the biggest thing. My particular injury was on the minor side, I have read about tendons becoming completely torn off of the bone. I did some reload practice last night, but was sure to take it easy, and not do it for very long. I also changed my technique some, so that I am tucking my elbow under the gun, so I use more bicep rather than top of forearm for support.
  19. Mods, please move to different area, this may turn into a fruitful discussion. I can still hate it, but now it's ok to hate it somewhere else
  20. I have a gun room, so I just pack what's needed for each specific trip on what I call my "packing table" where my shooter connection bag always sits. Sometimes I'm just going to blast some claybirds, or maybe it's long range rifle practice, or 3gun match...etc.
  21. Sorry, but how did the pins get bent? I've dry fired my 1911 maybe 6,000 times?? Is it something to do with the 2011, or an empty primer pocket not lining up correctly?
  22. How I feel is, I like love to shoot, and I play by the rules. It's not my game, but I like to play.
