  1. Paul, I'm not sure where you live, but in certain parts of the country, "scaring your wife with a firearm" can be considered assault??? And don't forget the fact that you're not getting sex again any time soon!
  2. Where ate you guys picking them up for $100 - $110 a case for primers? I want them at that price.
  3. -1 Why respond like that? It's not helpful and really not characteristic of the forum. Norm, I know you got some good info in most of the replies. Have fun. I've found the reloading to be enjoyable. Just don't rush the change over. You'll get it and it'll be easy next time.
  4. It looks like you need to have a crimp that is a little tighter. I would recrimp one and see if it slides all the way in. As I was establishing an appropriate OAL, I found that the lack of crimp would keep it from seating all the way. And if that is not it, you may need to shorten the OAL. One of the two should do it (hopefully the crimp since that is easier to change on multiple bullets).
  5. I load standing and I have both a small gooseneck lamp and a swivel-mounted mirror over the bullet seating station so I can more easily see the powder. +1 on the light. I've been reloading for such a short time but my initial fear of almost hiding from the machine because I thought something might blow up has changed to a healthy respect for the reloading process. I have pretty good lighting where I'm reloading but I have an extra lamp on the left side to brighten up the area. I do check the powder as I rotate stations. I don't want to go without powder and I definitely do not want a double shot! So far I've had a few primers that didn't seat because I didn't push up enough on the handle (which causes a small powder spill) but they are an easy fix. I kinda like the kinetic puller.
  6. Yup. Titegroup. OAL is 1.161. I made some dummy rounds and then realized I probably had more room so I mace more dummies at this length and there is no problem in my M&P9. I could probably go even longer!
  7. Welcome! I'm new here and just south of the border. This is a great forum - friendly and helpful people, interesting topics, ... If you're into shooting and reloading, I'm sure you'll like it here.
  8. Well, after a long wait, I finally got to load some ammo and shoot it. It's more fun when you make your own stuff! I bought Montana Gold 124gn CMJ, WSP, and Titegroup. I loaded at 4.1, 4.2, 4.3, and 4.4 grains. I did chrono the 4 different grain weights. Here is what I found. Grains Avg. Velocity (fps) 4.1 1010 4.2 1040 4.3 1058 4.4 1127 I shot 5 bullets at each grain measurement. I did have a couple that seemed hot and a couple that seemed weak so I scrubbed them from my measurements. Up until 4.4 grn, I didn't notice much shooting difference. It felt a lot softer than my Federal 115grn factory ammo. At 4.4, it brought back the snap of the recoil. I can't say whether there is an accuracy difference or not right now. I can hit the broad side of a barn but that might be about it - and I'm pretty sure that's not the gun's or ammo's fault. I haven't shot in a while since my ammo money was going into ammunition supply. At this point, I'm thinking I'll go with the 4.3 because it still felt soft but it has that extra bit of power. I'm planning on shooting a bunch more at these different levels to be certain that's what I want to do (and hopefully bring back some accuracy). I'm just excited so I thought I would share (my wife really isn't interested - go figure huh?).
  9. Why would you need to use the depriming die? The station 2 (powder die) puts the bell on for resting the bullet on the brass. Since the bullet hasn't been shot, why size the case? Am completely out of it? Or am I right / almost right? I'm pretty darn green so I'm just thinking this through.
  10. Ski098, Have you used Titegroup? It looks like the Titegroup requires less grains per load. How is your accuracy & PF with your 4.8 gn of WST? Finally, if you've used Titegroup, how is the smell? 8)
  11. That price for corn media is fantastic. I can't find it anywhere else near that price. Does anyone know where to get a screaming deal like that on walnut?
  12. ... and works great! They are very easy to set up. You set the scale to Zero and then use the white pad and adjust it until the scale shows as balanced.
  13. I watched the Top Shot episode where they use this for the elimination round. HOLY CRAP, that's one incredible gun!
  14. I called MG and they wouldn't have gone out until Thursday so I wouldn't have gotten them until mid next week. I called Manny back. It sounded like he felt bad. He's sending me what he has in stock tomorrow (500-700) and he'll send the rest when they come in. I'm bummed that I don't have them now but he is doing what he can and I appreciate that. As long as they come as expected now, I'll buy from him again.
  15. He didn't give me any trouble. He said the prices had just gone up and were $10 over the internet price but it was still a good deal. He also said the bullets would show up today (Friday - one day after I ordered them) and he would send them out to me today. I was very impressed! Well, I'm not so happy now. I was expecting the bullets to arrive today. I didn't see them in the mail delivery so I called Manny. It turns out they didn't arrive on Friday and didn't get shipped. I wouldn't have known if I hadn't called. NOT COOL. Now I'm waiting until next week to get my bullets. Crap, crap, crap, crap, CRAP!!! I'm wondering if I should just buy them from Montana Gold directly.
