  1. Just give it a slight touch and go slow. I do not think you have to take off that much material (but I can see what you mean about dropping the DA too early).
  2. Polymer, I think you need to file a bit of the corner of the wing.. the forward-bottom corner (with the nose facing down forward facing muzzle.) My CZ SP-01 had an issue where it would "catch" the hammer when doing a slow SA pull, then as you released (eased out) the trigger it would act much like a decocker. See REPLY #14 https://czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=71069.0 Cajun Gunworks made the suggestion to me (but keep in mind it is for a CZ) so take it with a grain of salt. I can't find the thread but I believe that there was a big flame war over how to "properly" relieve this issue here? CGW's quick 5 minute tweak worked for me...
  3. Does the Shadow 2 require an extended firing pin if you put in a lighter hammer/mainspring? My SP-01 was very inconsistent even with Winchester primers with the stock firing pin and a 13lb hammer/mainspring.
  4. ASK, and you shall receive! We are truly fortunate to live in the USA where freedom of choice drives us to madness : ) Thanks for the heads up my friend!
  5. Anyone here try out the Patriot Defense magazine base pads? I've resisted buying aftermarket basepads for one reason or another, but since Ben Stoeger Pro Shop doesn't seem to have a BF deal this year, PD is surely trying my patience : ) (Wish they had them in blingtastic gold anodize though).
  6. As a bit of a compromise, if you need more ideas I have also tried using the USGI micro grip panel (loop version) as an inner liner. it is important you specify the loop version since the standard version uses hook side velcro. Use it to add girth and grip to your rig which simulates field conditions while being tight and grippy. https://www.highspeedgear.com/hsgi/panel-loop-95MGL.html I also use Sliv2's idea of having a spare inner belt stays looped onto a pair of shorts in my dry fire area.
  7. I challenge you to not clean your Glock and not change your springs until something goes wrong. The result may surprise you and frankly will "set your soul free".
  8. Wow, with a kinetic hammer? That is like doing 500 hail Marys. : ) I'm sure you won't repeat that mistake.
  9. I used to use a hammer whack-a-mole type bullet puller, but those are best used as penance to remind us about the stupidity of maintaining bad reloading practices - or to severely punish disrespectful children. I now use a Hornady CAM LOCK bullet puller. I even dug up and repurposed an old Lee $20 cheap ass press exclusively for this, which makes me feel wonderful. : ) https://www.hornady.com/reloading/presses/lock-n-load-accessories/bullet-pullers-bullet-collets#!/ Anyways I forget why I chose the Hornady over the RCBS, I think because I thought the lever action would be more ergonomic than the twisty. I think the Hornady is one of heaven's greatest inventions next to the GPS and back up cameras : ) (all of which make it less painful to be an idiot). The collet does leave 4 tooth marks on coated and jacketed bullets. But does not deform. I have reused salvaged projectiles. You can adjust the grip by the depth of the die or by how much you pull down the lever. The grip n pull is pretty cool.. thanks for sharing that. The price aside, the grip n pull has the advantage of being able to handle multiple calibres at once and less chance to leave tooth marks on the bullet. The Hornady is pretty brainless in operation but you usually set it in a way that it can typically handle only one bullet calibre and profile at a time.
  10. Sadly my last foray with cleaning the soldered connection points outside the battery box was fruitless : (. The inside connections were clean. (I could not disassemble the battery box without destroying it since the screws and lid were glued sealed shut) Tried going to MSA directly who required a $ fee (cost prohibitive) to perform a repair that was not guaranteed to work. Anyways no big deal. At this point I am just unscrewing the cap when the earpros are not in use and in the meanwhile am looking at what I will buy next. Due to recently paying $40 for a new set of gel seals, I don't want to waste them and am debating whether to get a new pair of Sordins to reuse the pads (which really served me well) or Pro Ears when I check out a friend's pair next week. I ordered a set of radio shack AAA battery enclosures (not waterproof) and may one day try to cut and replace the original battery box to see if that works.
  11. I haven't checked lately but back when Eotech released an N cel version of their optics I had a hard time looking for them, and turned me off (pun intended). I mean does anything other than BetaMax players use N cells?? (j/k rollseyes) That and I don't have anything ELSE that uses those batteries. At least with CR123s, my flashlights and other goodies use them so I don't feel as if I'm stocking batteries that are single purpose. : ) after a bit of research I found that at least one of the PRO EARS offer a CR123 option, and I will definitely go that route if I do go down this route.
  12. What sold me on Sordins 10 years ago: 1. I was irked when Peltors wanted to charge me $30 for a failed audio cable due to their non standard AUX connection. 2. "Better" ambient sound. 3. 5 year warranty. Looking at the PRO EARS, they seem to check all these boxes except that they use annoying N cell batteries.
  13. I have considered the PRO EARS GOLDs. Which model did you get? THey have so many models it just makes it so much more annoying to sift through them. Tho some models are not that much cheaper and some are more expensive than the Sordin Supreme Pro-Xs. Hopefully I can get some more life out of my Sordins since I JUST bought a new set of $40 gel pads! : O grrrrrrr...
  14. ...on corrosion I broke down the Sordins last night using the DIY guide on ARFcom. The connections INSIDE the battery box are clean. The wires that are soldered to the OUTSIDE of the battery box are potted (?) with a silicone coating shell. I found a corner of the soldered connection had worn exposed and had a layer of oxidized icing. I cleaned it off with alchohol. I put in new batteries and now I wait. If this works I will put a new shell of silicone over the exposed outside connection and call it good (fingers crossed). Even if idle battery life lasts 6 months I will take it - as its better than 3 days. I will probably air these out regularly as its pretty moist in there.. and not in a good way! ...on going deaf We have regular hearing tests at work Last year and I had a terrible scare thinking that I was going deaf in one ear. Turns out the doctor told me "You have a LOT of wax in your right ear". (I haven't had my ears flushed since I was 10 years old). And I can tell you, it can bring a grown man to tears, when he regains his hearing after a year of thinking he was going deaf. I double plug now. I have read about the blog post about Sordins apparently have a higher rating than what is posted on the packaging. (On average across the spectrum it is low but the dbb rating specifically for the frequencies of normal rifle and pistol gunshots is higher.) the post also mentioned I recall that compensators operate under a different frequency (and is just darn louder I suppose). https://trevoronthetrigger.wordpress.com/2014/05/01/msa-sordin-supreme-performance-the-misleading-nrr18db-rating/ That being said I do take my hearing seriously welcome suggestions on more robust earpros that offer the same comfort as the Sordins, for when my pair finally give up the ghost. I have considered the Ear Pro Golds. ...on service life I got 10 years of service out of my Sordins with one hassle free replacement under the first warranty period so I am honestly satisfied, despite my desire to squeeze as much out of the product as I can. This is just the way I was raised. ...on TCI During my search for solutions I did find TCI. I like that not only is the battery compartment waterproof but the electronics are waterproof too. It is also cool that there are apparently two speakers - one for ambient sound and one for audio. I am turned off that there is no audio AUX in plug, and that the DEHP model is $400. I will wait to see if they decide to cater to the civilian market. Read: get it to a price point where a 'reasonable value' is important, unlike government contracts ; ). Thanks for all the input.
  15. Thanks for the tip Jay! I will definitely look into this. SRS seemed clueless to my issues/symptoms but they process tons of these so perhaps they forget. I'll definitely look into this possibility. I really appreciate you taking the time to post with a lead! I never would have thought to look in the battery compartment.
  16. I've cleaned it off already so there's not much to share (thanks for the reply though). I think 'corrosion' is a bit harsh.. its more like green oxidation. Only slight spots at the soldered joints which I cleaned off carefully. Here's a random pic from the net. Ofcourse it wasn't THAT bad in there. It was very light but present.
  17. Anyone else have this problem? Long story short, I have a set of out of warranty MSA Sordin (Supreme Pro-X) ear protection, even in the OFF position the battery will completely DRAIN in a matter of 3 days. Again that is while turned off. Prior to a few months ago I could go I think a year before replacing batteries. 1. I've tried primaries, rechargables and even newly purchased primaries/non-rechargables with the same effect. (So I don't think its an issue of old batteries). 2. This doesn't make sense since they have an auto off feature and even continuously ON they should last 600 hours (not 72 hours). 3. The battery case is functional and tight contacts. But shouldn't really contribute to an issue? 4. Contacting SRS tactical does not have any solutions other than to do an out of warranty replacement of the motherboards. Which is almost the price of a new set. 5. I tried to clean off the green corrosion on the board to no effect. I am not that versed with the details of electronics. What can possibly contribute to such a horrendous PARASITIC DRAIN? Has anyone experienced this? To be quite honest, I am pretty happy with the performance and comfort of the SORDINS. My first set failed within 3 years which was easily replaced with a new set under hassle free warranty, and the new set served me for like 8 years. I think for the price and service the cost of a new pair is worth it for the 5 year warranty. I just feel cheap and want to see if there's something obvious I am missing? Part of me wants to just stick with rechargables and replace batteries every range session but at a weekly schedule of going to the range I forsee that getting old quick ; ) thanks for reading.
  18. When it happens to me it is when my Glock is really dirty.. as in like 3000 rounds or so. I clean it up and knock off the carbon that has caked on the extractor. Usually solves the issue.
  19. Did a search and I think the #91735 CZC Accu-Shadow with extended fitted barrel is Production legal. https://czcustom.com/new-firearms/cz-pistols-custom/czc-accu-shadow-blk.html But bear with me : ) looking at the USPSA prod list I can't seem to find it. https://uspsa.org/productionlist The list only has one Accu (other than the Lite). "CZ75 SP-01 Accu-Shadow 4.6 barre (42 oz.)" editted.. ok so I did more reading (always a good idea) and noticed a footnote that I did not catch earlier.. "Notes: Various models also come with a 4.80in barrel, the added weight for these models is .176 ounces." Does this comment address the CZC Accushadow with extended barrel? Seems kind of broad?
  20. Read your review yesterday over lunch Patrick. Thanks for writing it and taking the time to produce the video. Always a pleasure to watch - so calming and soothing LOL : )
  21. Good golly, I am embarrassed to say that it never occurred to me that my garage door could be magnetic : ) Thank you so much for taking the time to make the video and share your thoughts on the dry fire banners. I appreciate you on many levels! Your "organizing ladder" also warms the cockles of my OCD heart.
  22. In case you are wondering what Tok36 is talking about... with the extendo #19 hammer pin pin. http://www.czfirearms.us/index.php?topic=85892.0 Don't know if it will help you but it surely helped me when my hammer was still so slightly "camming" even with the gourmet CGW parts in it. Thanks again Tok36! : ) You are my hero!

    Double action kit

I agree with DesertTortoise on his advice. Only comment is that the sear can probably be moved to step 3 to be in conjunction with the hammer, and if you are going to buy the extended firing pin you will need to purchase the SRS kit, as CGW does not offer the modified lifter by itself.. I seem to recall... I started off wanting to make as minimum upgrades as possible (out of principle) and purchased parts bit by bit as per his flow chart - except that I initially did not purchase the extended firing pin and only purchased the 13lb hammer spring and lighter recoil spring. That was a mistake. The extended firing pin was essential for me since the 13lb hammer spring alone on hand loaded Winchester primer ammo gave me light strikes. In the end the "camming" of the stock hammer, that is the hammer rocking back slightly and giving me a "creepy" single action pull proved too annoying for me I ended up going all the way and buying an aftermarket hammer. In retrospect I should have just bought the production legal kit which could have saved me time and money. Tho doing it piecemeal really helped me understand the platform and understand what benefit each part contributed. Only exception is that I kept the stock trigger on the SP-01. You may want to check but it may be that the production legal kit's trigger is the same as the stock trigger on the 75B minus the overtravel screw. I may be wrong. I suggest you try shooting the gun as is for now, and pay attention to the single action pull. If you do not notice anything that annoys you then his step 1 is all you need : ). Depending on what ammo you run, I would suggest you buy both the 11lb and 13lb hammer spring to save on shipping if you wanted to go lighter than 13lb because that lingering "what if" will eventually gnaw at you. Good luck.
  24. Edit to add, my measurements are for the HAJO adjustable sight.
