I have had this experience too with my GMR13. I can't comment on other brands of bolts, but unless you can try ahead of time it may be safer to buy a JP bolt if you have a JP lower.

I have been eyeing this setup for a while and really like the design.. very out of the box : ) Did you supply your own barrel or did Brekke supply the barrel? Also you mention 1lb 9oz. Is that weight for the barrel + extension, or does it INCLUDE the HANDGUARD?

If you do come up with a good solution, please do share. I've been stewing on it for a little bit but haven't had a clear solution. I'm sure there's demand for it. : ) Super long set screw on the back and the knurled knob on the front?

I am totally backseat quarterbacking this... the main difference between the original folding side charger and the new competition handle from my observation is that the competition handle only unfolds just enough to allow it to unlock. That is why the rear of the competition handle is longer - has that toenail wedge at the end that limits just how much it opens. You can probably convert your original side charger if you can find a way to limit the amount it opens to just enough so it unlocks, then screw in a knob at the front end. Maybe put an L bracket at the HINGED end to stop it from opening all the way?? I kind of dropped the though experiment cause there was just not enough to work with. Your call though. Buying a lever for $200+ to cut it down is just a hard pill to swallow. If you do make a mod I think there is a market for it cause I'm certain a few people who bought the original handle at launch are kind of bitter that JP is charging $200+ for a whole new assembly instead of just selling that modified lever.

If I am mailing a small item that may break or puncture out of the padded envelope (for example a Glock connector or some fragile part) I put it in a federal tray first. This allows the part to be protected while keeping the package lightweight and still be able to be sent first class under 4 oz. They federal trays are also great catch all trays. My Dillon 550 has a habit of spitting out spent primers on my bench like spent sunflower seeds for some odd reason and once I figured out where they were going, put a tray there and pretty much took care of the problem. For a few years now I have been saving a bunch of trays in the hopes of having an "Ah ha!" moment. No luck yet.

I have an older JP SCS (gen 1) that was made for the GMR. It consists of tungsten (? I think) weights and has 2 separate carriers, each with 2 weights. Therefore 4 weights total. Each carrier + 2 weights is 4.5oz. (Therefore the total weight of the gen 1 system, carriers and weights is 9 oz.) I haven't used this setup in a while since I upgraded, but was wondering.. Can I remove one of these carriers and run it in a JP-15 in 223? That means an SCS with a 2 weight system (instead of 3) weighing 4.5oz? I will ofcourse change the spring as needed. My JP-15 has a low mass LMOS carrier and adjustable gas block. Has anyone tried this? Just have free time as we all do and looking to dust off and repurpose some parts. Is length of the reciprocating mass an issue? If so I think I can add a delrin spacer in there to lengthen the reciprocating mass as a "placeholder" Thanks for your time and humouring me. The SCS looks like this.. notice that the carrier is two pieces, so one carrier can be removed.

Keep in mind that not all places in the world accept returns. We are very fortunate in the USA, yet it's taken for granted. That being said, as mentioned, its a free market - if its stated up front, then its fair.

I have not tried PWS but with a QC10 and Spartan (New Frontier) lower, the complete JP upper works fine. In my observation there's nothing really particular with upper assemblies. All the dimensional distinctions are designed into the lower.

It is probably because as designed it holds less than 10 rounds (or Glock did not submit it for review because of its <10 round capacity). Case in point, the Glock 36 which holds less than 10 rounds is not on the list as well but the 21 is. For the record I do think its commendable you want to try to run with your carry gun. Shooting your 43 with extended mag in limited 10 is a good alternative, and it gives you the added option of using an appendix holster if you carry this way.

The gunsite low mount thumb safety is the OG safety of that style. As it's dated, it may have fallen out of favour. A quick search turned up with this one from Wilson. Its hard to tell from the pics how it compares to the Gunsite, so you may need to do more research.. but its a start. The shorter handguard takes some getting used to, again... It feels like 2006 all over again : ) In my excitement I bought a 10" handguard before I got the barrel, only to find it was a bit too long, but I like the chopped up hot rod look of it now.

Thanks for the note and feedback. Yes TACCOM milled the top interface on my old JP GMR bolt for free and it was a quick turnaround. Really looking forward to put this new barrel through its paces.

TACCOM's barrels are great, all at an excellent no frills price that is easily half of competitors. Can't beat that from an outfit that pretty much is often imitated. Their new super feed barrels are even greater. Plus, TACCOM has excellent customer service to boot. You won't regret it.

Bedtime story: So in response to my old thread asking for advice, I was going to wait for Shooting Innovations to get back from SHOT SHOW (and maybe a coupon), but in the meantime I was talking to TACCOM to inquire about their comped shrouds and what length I should buy to make a 10" barrel legal (aka. non NFA). I kicked the tire for a few days bugging and harassing Tim (Tim is always a good sport and treats me right.) I am glad I did wait a few days because the day I was about to pull the trigger, Tim releases his 10/16 super feed barrel like he read my mind : ). It was exactly what I wanted. I paid for this barrel and did not get any compensation or special deal of any kind in exchange for a favourable review. I was also not asked for a review at any time. I DID get great service but that is standard for TACCOM. On his website he makes this claim. The Multi angle PATENT PENDING extreme feed ramp will allow the use of hollow point ammunition and support the front of the glock magazine. I lifted an eyebrow on this one. Pretty bold claim in my experience since I was tearing my hair out in the past. I have had Tim's previous (wide fan shaped) extreme feed barrel, and have had issues ranging from the bullet getting stuck just above the feed ramp or a 45 degree jam where the bullet would get stuck on the top of the chamber. If I did not get a jam on the first round, I couldn't get through ten rounds without experiencing a bottom or top of chamber jam (the bullet never made it into the chamber at all). To be completely fair, I had 45 degree jams (top of chamber) jams even with complete JP uppers. So Tim has this new out of the box device TOP RAMP design. Mad science stuff. OK sure... I was willing to try it and I trusted Tim. The new barrel seems to have a new (lower) feed ramp design. Hand polished, less wide, less flared, and seems like a different angle?? Almost looks like their original (narrow) ramped barrel with the exception that you do not need to chamfer the bottom part of your bolt. Note: The top of your bolt needs to be milled out in order to interface with the top ramp. My build is as follows: QC10 lower, Hiperfire 24C trigger, QC10 upper, 10/16 TACCOM barrel, original JP GMR13 bolt, cheap ass handguard. Note on handguard: measurement from front face of upper reciever to the back of the first comp port is 9.25". So a 9" handguard is ideal unless you want to cut your handguard. Initial Buffer system: Wave spring, delrin spacer (length is $2 worth of quarters), JP 308 carbine spring & Blitzkrieg buffer. (I tried it with the extreme short stroke setup that runs with my JP GMR 13.) The bullets cleared the ramp but I got jams on the top of the chamber as per usual, however it seemed that the top "super feed ramp" did some work and it was able to force more of the bullet in the chamber but not enough. In the past it did not make it in the chamber, but this time it did, but not enough). Instead of a 45 degree jam, I'd say 20 degree jam? It was doing a bit better than before but still jammed. Being frustrated and defeated again, I was about to turn it in, but the RO who ran me mentioned "It seems as if there isn't enough time for the bullet to go into battery and its getting stuck." I was kind of stunned at the comment and I never would have thought of it. So, I modified my setup. Changed Buffer system: Wave spring, 2 quarters, JP 308 carbine spring & Blitzkrieg buffer. Result = I ran the barrel with 500 rounds and only had one 45 degree jam. I dunno what that was all about, and I felt irked about it but frankly I was overjoyed. Compared to the past this setup really ran well! I was very very happy to finally put this beast to rest. I had regretted buying a QC10 project lower and was frustrated I could not get it to work with JHP but all is well now. Now that I know it runs I will test to see just how much I can short stroke it by adding more quarters. I use Precision Delta 115 gr JHP. I typically load it to 1.115". I did notice that in cycling live rounds, rounds that measured 1.120" OAL would get stuck in the chamber and hard to eject. In live fire it did not seem to be an issue. The barrel is accurate. I shot at steel at 20 yards and the bullets were in a nice cloverleaf from an impromptu rest. I have not tested the effectiveness of the comp. My support hand index finger is filthy tho. The guys at the club were really digging this new barrel and asked where to order it, I for one am happy it runs with JHP. It's like a heavy load off my shoulders. THANK YOU! If you are not married to the Hiperfire, I am willing to guess a JP trigger will fix your situation. If not, hopefully one of the fixes will help you. I have had personal experience or at least a local shooting pal has with the disconnector spring & recoil assembly issue causing the Hiperfire to double. What is baffling me is your feeding. In my case I had an issue with jamming only with a longer (short stroked) buffer system, not a shorter one.. seems like you have the reverse? You can try to make your 4 weight system all tungsten? However, you really have to choose if you want to short stroke or not before you try to play musical chairs needlessly.

I can understand if you want to stick with the Hiperfire and make it work. I've been there. Try disassembling the Hiperfire. Have read issues of junk getting in there and messing it up, and also the possibility of a mangled disconnector spring. If that does not solve the issue, then try to see if you can borrow another buffer system from a friend.

Thanks for the tips. I will look up the FX-9. As for the spring, I did try a 223 carbine spring instead of the 308 and it was the same result sadly. I do appreciate the idea but it did not work for me. I did buy a new barrel and will try my own build with a QC10 stripped upper I have in hand this weekend. From eyeballing it I think the QC10 upper is dimensionaly the same as the standard JP upper receiver (or any upper for that matter) but am crossing my fingers.

You can get 56-57 rounds with an OEM 30rd Glock mag + Tacccom extension which is pretty good and reliable in my experience All for $100 give or take. The need to change your mag catch to metal further adds to the price burden to the MBX. To take your observation another path, I am not sure what the benefit a metal mag has for a division with no magazine limits. I always thought that a 'thin walled' full metal Glock mag theoretically has the advantage of increasing capacity within the same footprint/dimensional limitations. MBX succeeds here in adding +1 round to a 140mm mag, if that extra round is worth the price to you in Limited division. Perhaps this design has another hidden feature? If it changes the lead bullet's presentation height, or presentation angle as it feeds the round into the chamber (which MBX alludes to), and if it reliably allows you to feed bullet profiles previously you were not able to - re: JHP in a non-JP lower - then I can see the benefit, most definitely. Apart from some new trick, the OEM Glock mag with its reliability, affordability, and ease of availability, a competitor really needs to bring something revolutionary to the table. Only in my own personal experience, even The Magpul Glock mags, which threatened to undercut Glock's price point did not really seem to replace the OEM Glock mag demand after the initial launch excitement. All in all looking forward to see if the MBX really brings something new to the PCC platform.
