Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. If mine is pinned, it's invisible to me, I did everything but break out the magnifying glass. It's a 10-8, and I think it's a heavy barrel, bu I'm not sure about that.
  2. Did you mill the front sight and get a cut put in aftermarket or what? Mine has the standard ramp on the front, and no pin. By the way, that's pretty much what I'm wanting anyway.
  3. Is it possible to put an adjustable rear sight on a model 10 revolver. I've seen non adjustable combat sights offered on j frames, and was wondering if I might be able to get a decent sight picture on a model 10 I bought for a project gun.
  4. Thanks Matt. Not sure about an '05, but the current Allegro Bay models I looked at all had a Cummins diesel 340hp (around 650lb/ft of torque) with an Allison tranny, but were front engined. I think it would tow just fine, but the lack of basement would be an issue. They did have stacked w/d units in some versions (an option, I'm sure). The Phaeton seems to be much nicer and we might consider a used one if it's really nice and only a couple of years old...seem to be quite a few on the market now. At anything near list that's probably more than Momma wants to spend, but I can definitely see how it's a better unit overall. R, They must have changed the line up recently, because I think the Bay was only offered as a gas when we got ours. I remember it was on a workhorse chassis. Also, it wasn't that the Bay didn't have the power, I think that was fine, but more that it handled differently. I don't know why exactly, but that's what I remember Dad complaining about. Also, the noise from the front engine got aggravating at times.
  5. G-man My parents bought a 38' Allegro Bay from Tiffin in 05. Ordered from the factory with what they thought they wanted. They took a short trip first to get used to it, and then went across country for a 30 day trip. They loved it, but the camper had some electrical problems that Tiffin couldn't resolve to Dad's satisfaction. They also weren't completely satisfied with the front engine gas burner. Dad did a lot of research on different manufacturers and RVS, and eventually decided to go back with another Tiffin product. They ended up with a 40' Phaeton, which is the entry into the deisel pusher line. The first big trip for the Phaeton was for their 40th wedding anniversery, and they stayed gone for 40 days. They were much happier with Phaeton. It handles, drives and tows so much better than the Bay and has much more storage, especially with the basement, which is not available on the front engine units. They pulled a Tahoe 4x4 with both campers, and were much more satisfied with the Phaeton. I also remeber that the Bay had combo W/D unit, while the Phaeton has a stacked unit. They really preferred the stack to the combo. And just for the record, I very seldom stay in hotels that are anywhere as nice or as comfortable as the RV. If you've got any questions about Tiffin, PM me, they're made about 30 miles away, and support our local economy.
  6. same as Glen on this on..when i shoot ESR,there is a HUGE risk of dropping the gun during the reload due to "forcing cone blisters" ,i tryed tape but that didnt work..it just melted into the skin, ..dont shoot ESR that much at all,but do wear a fingerless glove when i do... Yeah, but everybody knows you're a little Yankee Wuss. r
  7. The quickest way to clean lead out of a barrel is to finish the practice session with a cylinder full of jacketed bullets. Poke around on the revolver section, and you'll find most of us shoot nothing but lead except at major matches. I hope this helps.
  8. 1. I started shooting revolver in IDPA and have since gravitated into USPSA and Steel. 2. Usually 2 to 3 a month. 3. I've been averaging 3 to 4 majors a year for the last 4 yrs or so, and so far only 2 have been with a bottom feeder. 4. I shot the 2008 LPR nationals with my revolver and am considering a repeat in 2009. 5. I would like to try ICORE and maybe Steel Challenge if any matches were close enough. 6. I like the extra challenge and the fact that the other folks are as crazy as me and we always have a heck of a good time. Also, I've always had trouble counting past 6. 7. I think I've already covered this. It's great that someone else is trying to help interest in the round gun.
  9. I was going to post this anyway and happened to notice a reference in another post about Hogdgon listing a 55 grain .223 rifle load in both Clays and Titegroup. Velocity is around 1050. I was wondering if anyone has tried this and whether it would function and be safe in an AR. The reason I would like to try it is because this would be close to subsonic, and might be more effective with my suppressor.
  10. Thanks for all the help, I've got one on the way from Midway.
  11. The rear sight is bottomed out (all the way down) and the front sight is pinned. Also I just edited my original post because of crs disease. I'm actually shooting high, not low.
  12. After shooting Hopalong's gun so much last year, I decided I wanted to try going old school and putting a narrow black front sight back on my 625 and losing the fiber optic. After searching Brownells, the tallest partridge sight I could find was .243 which I thought would be close enough to the .250 that I had. No such luck. Now I'm shooting around 6"-8" high with no more adjustment in the rear sight. So what I'm wondering si if I can get a Millet rear that would match up with this height front sight. Can anybody give me pointers on what height the rear needs to be so it will be compatible with this front sight?
  13. Thanks, that's all I need, another distraction. My best is around 56000. It ends at level 5. Ya'll are griping about nine, just wait.
  14. No can do on that weekend. I love my wife, and shooting a match on my anniversery would probably not be conducive to a harmonious home life.
