  1. You will be better off getting him either a G22 or G35. The .40 down loaded to a 130 PF is softer than a 9mm. The G22/35 is the most versatile of all guns. It can be shot in Production/Lim 10/Limited/SSP/ESP. I have a safe full (7) of Glocks. If I could only have one it would be a G35.
  2. This month's Front Sight has the SS rules.
  3. Where can I get FO rods that are not in metric sizes. The rod in my front sight is 7/64" - .109". All the ones I can find are in mm. 2mm = .079" 3mm = .118" etc. I could drill out the front to take a 3mm rod I guess, but I would rather not do that.
  4. Mike, if they tried to enforce that statement then there would be no IDPA. Less than 20% of the shooters I know use "full power" loads. That 20% is made up of those that use 9mm Blazer or white box. I know of one CDP shooter that uses factory ammo. It is not a rule, but a "mission statement". The mission statement contradicts the Power Factor rule. Most factory 230 gr ball ammo has a PF of over 190. Typical 115 gr 9mm ammo runs a 138-145 PF. SSP and ESP would be a 9mm only Division. Why would anyone shoot a .40 in these Divisions? Not picking on you, but you are not living in the real world of IDPA. I have advocated having a Major and Minor PF scoring system in each Division for years. Minor would be scored +.50 sec. and +1.50 sec. Major would be +.25 and +.75 sec. I would even split CDP into two PF. Minor would be 165 and Major would be 190 for those that want to shoot a manly load. That would make things a little interesting in CDP. A 230 at 718 fps or a 230 at 826 fps might be fun.
  5. If it makes the weight limit it should be.
  6. No they cannot. All the ESP rule stipulates is the round must be 9mm or larger. Read the rules.
  7. There are other ways to control the pre and post trigger travels than screws.
  8. If you want a really crisp trigger put an 8# connector in. I get a very short, crisp 3 lb. pull with one. I need to work on that project a little more. I think a sub-3 lb. pull is possible.
  9. I never had a problem with any of them. I do like the latest #6 or #7 in .40 as they really jump out of the gun.

    Goodbye 1911s

Supposedly Glock is coming out with a slimmer G21 soon. Will just have to wait and see. If the Croatians can fit a 45ACP into a reasonably sized frame then Glock should be able to also.
  11. If you are using a center hold then you need a shorter front sight or crank up the rear if it is adjustable. A lighter bullet will group lower.
  12. I aim for 1.135" with a 147 gr RN. UCL is 1.138", LCL is 1.132".

    Glock Sight's

I just got a set of the Amerigo sights that Spook mentioned. They look pretty good. I will stick them on one of my Glocks tomorrow.
  14. He added the words as he got older. He realized that they were implied in his younger years.

    Goodbye 1911s

My hands are a little larger than average, but the grip is just a little too fat for my tastes.
  16. Jim, you may be in more trouble. I plan on sending Audrey to the Universal Shooting Academy this spring or have her spend some time with Dave Sevigny.

    Goodbye 1911s

I have been playing around with various 1911/2011 platforms for the last year. I have done a good bit of comparison testing also. Bottom line - I shoot Glocks better than I do 1911/2011 guns. The 1911/2011 guns have become "safe queens". OTOH I may just sell them all. Some folks point out that 1911 triggers are better. Well I am not so sure. I have 20 oz. triggers in my Glocks. They feed everything I throw at them. You can't wear them out. We have 2 G34s, G35s and a lone G17. All group under 1 1/2" at 25 yds with the stock barrels. I predict that while my buddy CY has ventured out into the XD/M&P world he will return to the Glock fold. Come on Glock bring out that single stack .45ACP. I need a CDP gun.
  18. Guess you guys did not have the same college professor I did. Remember him? The funny old Greek guy. He kept spouting off something about "Give me a lever long enough, a place to stand, and I can move the earth". Seems like his name was Archimedes. The bore axis is the lever. The higher it is the more the gun will flip.
  19. Acusports has them at a little over $400. They were $388 a couple of weeks ago.
  20. Most folks just wear a vest. You can spend from $20 - $200 on the vest. Lots of shooters around here wear this vest. BTW Chris makes the best holster I have ever used. http://www.pistolpacking.com/httpdocs/vests/vests.html
  21. Duane, guess you guys got a little wind up there. My sister lives on the Sound in Seattle. She missed getting killed by 3 feet when a 100 ft. tree came through her roof. Did about $100,000 in damages to her house. I did fuss at her a little about sleeping upstairs during high winds.
  22. It is easy to find our house. We are one of the last in our neighborhood to have an indoor toilet. This is Alabama after all. We are limited by covenants to no more than 4 cars on blocks.
  23. The Lone Wolf barrel at $89 is by far the best buy in a Glock aftermarket barrel. It is just as accurate and finished just as well as the overpriced KKM and Bar-Sto barrels.
