Kevin, To answer your question, I wonder what division my Open gun would fall under? I think its stock service pistol, you havent modified it and it still stock...right?

Things could be alot worse, you could be out of ammo....

I'd go with the Trojan, get some good mags and start reloading

I use N320, havent tried N310, but am more than happy with what I have...might try some 165's down the road.

I use a black blade, anything more and I get confused

I have a couple of these, I used grams internals and they hold 21...22 is really pushing them...thought about switching to the bolens internals to see about the 22nd round, just waiting for the springs to wear out.

I have sent them an email.I am curious how it looks like on the slide. Can you let me know if they are doing this, I am interested since it will prolong the slide from being replaced.

I have a Ranger II, its a Government sized frame with a Commander slide, shoots nice. I ordered it from Dawson and it took a little time to get it, I wanted it with a ambi safety, magwell and a thin fiber optic front sight. STI did the work before they offered any of this as options and it is a great carry pistol. I use a bladetech IWB holster and it disappears when I'm carrying. I read about the Ranger III, it has a hammer down carry mode when the safety is on, the hammer goes back when you take the safety off. I think I'll stay with the original design that has worked for 100 years.

I have an sti tube, grams 13 coil spring/follower, bolens 4mm and I had to trim it to fit the gauge, holds 25 rounds.

I have a STI tactical and carry it and for now its my limited gun. One pistol and it fills both needs for now. I have broken a couple of parts and had them changed out by a local smith...it is a great gun....have fun with it.

I had my STI hard chromed from APW and there was primer erosion before I sent it in, only thing shot was factory ammo then, and it didn't fill it in. I do not have it growing since then and run some factory ammo and mostly reloads. My issued ammo is making 195 pf. With the factory ammo the gun would have sparks flying out from breachface area...interesting to watch on video. Contacted the ammo manufacture and that is another story.

I load MG 180 CMJ's and use N320. 1.135" oal with 4.8 grn, its a shoots great and I'm making a 171 pf, out of my STI with a factory barrel. A friend of mine loads the same round but is bumped up to 5 grn to make 170 pf.

I have only run one stage in the last year where one mag would run the stage starting with 21+1, but, you had to move so I hit a reload anyway...

I have several different mags for limited and duty, I have older SV, SPS and STI tubes. I didn't have any problems at first and then started to have issues...I learned how to tune them myself out of necessity. The SV and STI's look great, the SPS tubes took a little coaxing...they might look a little rough but they run now. I don't have a mag that doesn't hold at least 20 reloadable. My mags looked well enough that I had several guys ask me to do theirs, I did and now I have done a bunch for others. My limited mags are 20-21 reloadable. Depending on the components the big sticks hold 29-30 in 9 major or 38 super. I have several guys that have ran the mags nonstop and haven't had a single issue. I have worked on some mags that gave me some trouble but in the end they run 100%. If the stock mags work and you are happy with the number of rounds...keep shooting them. If you are having trouble with the mags you can either fix them yourself or buy a set of tuned mags.

I shoot a 40 in limited and at the match this weekend there was two times that I ran 20 rounds before a reload, I think it would be a great L-10 gun, but you would be down on capacity for limited.

I put in an aftec and it would run factory ammo with only one spring and it would run my reloads with both springs. I messed with it for a little while and I cut half of a coil off each spring and it now runs 100% with factory and reloads

Monica, I glad to see that you are having fun shooting, I squaded with you and Jonathan at Miamisburg a few months ago...possible at your first match, and yes...he is sandbagging. Something that might help to find a consistent spot to hit on the mag change is to take a silver sharpie and put a small line or dot inside the magwell or grip to aim for when you are putting the fresh mag in. The good thing is you know when you are hitting the same spot because the dot or line will wear off. I try to drop the mag when the gun is still vertical and then rotate it to see the magwell, and have the gun up high to keep the target in line, so when the fresh mag is in, rotate the gun vertical and push it out to the target.

I had APW hardchrome my sti and they were great to deal with and had it back within two weeks.

I had the same problem with my STI tactical 5 in 40. Tried different front sights and finally bought a .170 black sight and went to the range with some files to lower it, got it real close now and am going to buy a black serrated sight and have it cut down when its installed. I used the cheapest front sight to file on, that way I didn't screw up a good sight.
