  1. Ok, I finally got a chance to read this thread and enjoy the jocularity at my husband's expense. He really is a gentleman and a scholar (although he can't spell worth a darn) and he does not partake of alcoholic beverages. In the almost 24 years that we've been together, I can attest to being present during the 3 times he allowed the toxic Tequila to take over his inhibitions. If you knew the gory details of all 3 events, you would understand why he has been banned from its use. Story #1 occurred 20 years ago. We worked together as computer engineers in the same branch office of a now defunct electronics company. The boss had invited the entire office personnel to a company party as his house. (mistake #1) On the way to the BYOB party, we stopped at the local liquor store and purchased the ingredients for our favorite refreshments. (margaritas) As this collection of strange personalities and professional computer geeks began to enjoy food and spirits, the maturity level of each began to degrade. Boss #1, whose home was the scene of the crime, was a normal family man who happened to own a very large and quite lovely fish tank. He also happened to be the least liked boss in the office. Boss #2 was more of a friendly fellow, well-liked by all, divorced, and had a girlfriend who happened to be a stripper by profession. (mistake #2) Her attire (which left nothing to the imagination) and her friendly cavorting with all present started an unfortunate series of events. As I recall, one of our coworkers suffered severe physical abuse from his wife and his camera was destroyed in the process. (sorry no pics) The dinner was wonderful and delicious. A very long table was set in the backyard to enjoy the meal of lobster and corn-on-cob. The tablecloth was layers of newspaper to absorb the mess of butter, lobster shells and chewed-up corn cobs. As the festivities were in full force, the penile humor began and a food fight was on the horizon. When the guys were unsuccessful in getting the boss's girlfriend to dance for them on the table, the girls were successful at getting Jim to take her place. (remember, the table is covered in slippery butter...) The combination of a well-lubricated Jim and an overly lubricated table was cause for great humor! I do remember that the attention Jim received from the stripper girlfriend was more than I thought appropriate although my response was not as painful for Jim as the other guy's wife was for him as was evidenced by his sporting a black-eye at the office several days later. Jim and his partner in crime had a premeditated plan to vomit in the boss's fish tank from copious amounts of alcohol and an innocent path through the living room to the bathroom. However, I and the partner's wife thwarted their efforts and led them to the car by their ears. We had discovered during the evening that the tequila was completely gone and there was plenty margarita mix left over...obviously, the 2 men folk had been drinking shots while we were politely sipping our adult refreshments without incident. To really appreciate this, you had to be there. I had never before seen my husband act in this manner and it caused me to question our future social activities. Luckily, it caused Jim to question whether or not the toxic liquid would ever pass across his lips again. (that will be story #2 and #3) Considering it's happened 3 times in 24 years, I wonder if it's a 7 year itch kinda thing...
  2. Thanks for sharing this great story. The part about the knife brought tears to my eyes and got me choked up a bit ... Your grandfather most certainly was proud of you for offering your best to replace what you lost. How precious that your grandmother was able to share the story with you...you're a lucky man!
  3. Happy Birthday Chet!
  4. Happy Birthday to All! ...especially to the Mama Kahuna
  5. Our kids got a Siamese fighting fish and we named it Bob (all pets in this house eventually get named Bob..except for the dog...her name is Newt) Bob lived in a fish bowl and traveled with us in the motorhome (across several states) on trips to the lake, vacations, camping in the mountains, car shows, and hunting trips. Bob lived happily and was a well traveled fish for a couple of years when, for no apparent reason, he passed on. The kids were saddened by this but shortly thereafter on a trip to Walmart, they got a new Bob and the saga continued. Your little girl will certainly be saddened by loss of her crawfish but an honest explanation and a trip to the pet store to find a new denison of the deep to occupy said expensive fish tank, may help her to cope with her loss.
  6. Hmmm, this term sounds a bit egotistical for my sense of accomplishment. When I look at my wall of stuff, I am reminded of how hard I worked to earn it and how much of my husband's money I spent to have that opportunity. When I look at the wall that holds all the pictures of my children and grandchildren, I am reminded of how much I love them and feel a sense of pride. I also am reminded how hard I worked to raise them and how much I spent to do it. I am proud of my accomplishment but "I Love me" wall sounds kinda conceited.

  10. I like your motivational poster as it speaks to the unending love and admiration for the 1911 which is the backbone of our shooting sport. As the ZT-Shirt says, "Getting back to where it all began".
  11. Maybe sleep and rest do have some value after all...
  12. That is a cute photo! Adorable baby skunks and innocent little girls who have no idea what the consequences may be. Thanks for sharing this...
  13. Congratulations! Remember aches and pains are directly proportional to your age and how badly you abused your body in previous years.
  14. Gawd I love Duct Tape! Every time I see a new use for the stuff I think of The Red Green Show. He always said, "Any tool can be the right tool" Or how about, If it moves and you don't want it to, use duct tape. If it's stuck and you want to move, use WD-40
  15. Wow Denise, That's awesome. It's great to hear the accolades from our future 3-Gun families. Thanks for posting these... And, thanks for making it possible to donate to a great cause.
  16. You may be allergic. It's one of the first symptoms of salicylate toxicity - overdose of aspirin, aspirin-like products, things like Pepto-Bislmal and even sports creme application if you're sensitive or allergic. Not sure if it's an allergy but certainly if it made my ears ring I would back off the dosage.
  17. Looks like an awesome weekend in Las Cruces Temps rising by Friday to the 80's+ woohoo!
