down0
Star Wars a guy movie? Puh leeese!! Aint nothin' but a love story set in space! Aliens, now that's guy-sci-fi! Way of the gun? Good gun-handling (one-hand reloads, shooting through the walls at the bad guys) but Julliette Lewis is such a bad actress I groaned every time she showed up in a scene. Anyone mention "Three Kings"? Phil Dunlop
Have to agree with Zulu, though I haven't seen it for 20 years. My wife tells me it was the only movie she walked out of, has to qualify

kimel
O'Brother Where Art Thou is NOT a guy flick. No way. It is Homer's Odyssey wrapped in the guise of the depression era. My wife and sister both loved it. It is the only thing that Geo Clooney has done in the movies that was worth watching though...IMHO.

texasag93
I can't believe I forgot it and haven't seen it listed. RED DAWN - listed in Guiness Book at one time as the most violent movie made to date. MY KINDA MOVIE! TXAG
George D
O'Brother Where Art Thou .... is the only thing that Geo Clooney has done in the movies that was worth watching though...IMHO. I'd have to agree with you there.
ErikW
You Clooney bashers apparently haven't seen Three Kings. Caddyshack, now there's a guy movie. Army of Darkness and anything with Bruce Campbell are guy movies. Fried Green Tomatoes, not a guy movie.
kimel
Yes, I saw Three Kings. It sucked due to piss-poor acting by Clooney and lack of a decent storyline. There were some cool scenes but overall the story was lacking much of anything that could be called substance. I suspect that Geo Clooney is only up to acting in direct proportion to the direction. Hmmm...didn't he direct Three Kings? That would explain a lot. As long as we are piling on movies to the list: A Bridge Too Far Battle of the Bulge Galipoli (however you spell it) Any of the four movies by Monty Python (including Live at the Hollywood Bowl) And, to use a catchall...most porn. George D
I have also seen Tree Kings and have to agree with Kimel's assessment for the same reasons. Gallipoli is another great movie that I had forgotten.
Nik Habicht
Three Kings worked for me ---- but I was impressed with it as a visual treat. I love some movies for the stories they tell, some for the acting, some for the humor, and some for the visual look or sound track or special effects. The very best movies fill many of these categories at the same time ---- Heat comes to mind, along with The Searchers and the Matrix, the Star Wars trilogy etc. Three Kings and Being John Malkovich were directed by Spike Jonze, husband of movie director Sofia Coppola (The Virgin Suicides). Nik Habicht
While I'm not a huge George Clooney fan, I can't dismiss his performances in Out of Sight and Ocean's 11. But then it might have been Soderbergh's direction....
George D
Nik, I agree with your first post, but I often find that the movies I like or dislike have the same actors/actresses or directors in common. Could be that I prefer those particular individuals or that they tend to select movies that coincide with my taste. Whatever. I'd like to mention a film that, IMHO, never gained the popularity it deserved. "The Lighthorsemen" recounted the last cavalry charge in history. It took place at Beersheba - 1200 lighthorse charging across 5 Kilometres of open ground against an entrenched enemy supported by artillary - and was victorious with the loss of only 30 men. Definately a guy film. If you liked Gallipoli you'll enjoy this one.
ErikW
No, no, no... Spike Jonze only acted; David O. Russell directed Three Kings. He also did Spanking the Monkey, which is a mature guy movie (I don't know, can women identify with Ray's frustrations?) and Flirting with Disaster. Stratochief
Nobody has mentioned Fandango (With Kevin Costner) or Dawn of the Dead. What gives?
Gillster
GeorgeD, So, your the other guy who watched "The Lighthorseman"? I love that movie, saw it on Bravo years ago and finally found it on video, never get tired of watching that charge across the desert. Excellent choice. benos
I'm a big fan of Fandango; I think it's Kevin C's first movie. For some reason I'm not a big Kevin C fan, but I still like some of his movies anyway. be
Run n Gun
In addition to the many, many great guy movies already listed: Blood Sport Lone Wolf McQuad 3000 Miles to Graceland (I can't believe you guys missed this one!) Ed
George D
Haven't been able to locate Fandango in the video stores. I know some people consider Costner's finest performance to have been in "The Big Chill" but I enjoyed Dances with Wolves, No Way Out and Bull Durham. George D
I just remembered another oldie but goodie. The 1969 film "Downhill Racer" starring Robert Redford and Gene Hackman. Definately a guy movie.
