Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. Yeah but even my limited brain aptitude could have figured out that you don't bang it against the rear sight as he was doing. Walked in at the wrong time. I could have accepted an excuse after the fact like "I dropped it and it got banged up" or something like that. $300 slide $350 frame $200 in misc parts Seeing your local gorillasmith beat on your gun like he's the drummer from Metallica.......Priceless....
  2. To elaborate I walked in the shop and he was banging the back of the slide on the table attempting to get it to fit. I'm not a smart man but could tell that was not good. He also was talking about using (and it shows) course grit sandpaper and rough stones to file down the rails. I about fainted.
  3. my gunsmith botched a slide to frame fit. after an ass-chewing I got my parts back, now I got a slide that needs fitting. looks like it can be fit because the slide still won't go on. are there any gunsmiths willing to take on someone elses crappy work? it doesn't need to be a glass-slick fit, it just needs to cycle. can anyone help out?
  4. Easy, use a CR Speed. I never felt comfortable with my open gun in a 011 or 012 after it fell out for the 3rd time, so I chunked it for a CR.
  5. "Wildly cycling circuit breakers to get stuff to work" IS a fairly normal procedure in emergency situations when an electrically driven/controlled flight control fails. Most military pilots are generally forbidden by tech data to cycle circuit breakers, mainly because of redundant systems. But if your about to spiral out of control, what do you do? Follow tech data to the point where you lose your life? No, you cycle the damn circuit breaker and develop a new procedure as it happens. From what I saw on the documentary about this whole deal, they really ran into very little problems, or at least nothing out of the ordinary. How do you think we got to the moon? By not taking ANY risks? Me thinks they did good.
  6. Last I heard, video is not allowed for an arbitration.
  7. You'd be surpised what you don't "see" when your adreanaline is pumping. Accept the fact that you got DQ'd and move on. We all get DQ'd at one time or another. I've been DQ'd and yes, it hurts for a couple of hours, but you just have to laugh about it and move on. When the adrenaline is flowing and after the fact, what you think you did is sometimes different that what you actually did.
  8. Basically, USPSA is looking for inputs as to what to do with L10. Contact your area director or MV directly with your suggestions. He didn't say USPSA was looking into doing away with L10, they are open to suggestions from the membership, thats about what he said.
  9. I kept getting the runaround from a well known gunsmith/USPSA retailer in Texas about a C-More, kept getting told it would ship this week at the very latest. This went on for about 3 weeks, every week it was a different story, ended up getting told it would be 2 more weeks because they were being made at the factory. Well as a last resort, I called up Chuck at Shooters Connection and he told me "No Problem, I have 10 in stock" I had my scope in 2 days.......Go figure.
  10. I already have both an STI open and Limited gun, but the bull-barrel pretty much makes my Ltd gun null and void in IDPA. Thanks for the suggestions. I think I will just go with the Eagle in .40 mainly because with the 9mm, I'd have to buy yet another complete caliber conversion for my 550 plus, I'd have to buy all new magazines etc. Why not use the stuff I already have? I talked with Bob Londgrin and he seems very helpful, so I will buy from him. Thanks again.
  11. I've just been racking my brain for the last month trying to find the best 1911 style 9mm pistol for ESP. The STI Eagle and Trojan are among my front-runners. Although it's a .40, the Dawson/Jarret seems like a really good deal. I'm just wondering who out there to go with? Meaning, with which dealer could I get the best deal with? Brazos? Dawson? The only thing I'd want extra is a fiber optic front and a 3lb trigger job. Any honest suggestions?
  12. What drove people to hijack and fly airplanes into skycrapers? Because they can.
  13. I personally think we should eliminate everything except high junior (up to 17), high lady and high senior. Using ones occupation as an excuse to get yet another award is silly. This should be about shooting, not recognizing someone for what their occupation is. If someone wants an award, they should earn it like the rest of us. Just MY opionion.
  14. If anything is broken, it's Limited 10. I'm sure the orignal intent of L10 was to allow the single stack and IDPA folks to play in USPSA, now it's dominated by $2500 race guns using 10 high-caps loaded to 10rds, how can a guy with a single stack compete a race-gun? L10, as screwed up as it might be, is a step forward. USPSA should give EVERYONE who has a pistol, no matter what it might be, Open Gun, Revolver etc...the opportunity to compete and we should do everything we can to promote each division. Maybe we need some new L10 rules that follow Production as far as pistols? I wouldn't have any idea how to begin there. Because if you ban 2011's, you'd also have to ban Para's, Springfield, CZ, Tanfoglio etc.... I think L10 is probably as good as it's gonna get if you ask me. I don't shoot much L10, but it's a fun division to shoot if I want to bring out my IDPA gear.
