BigDave
Is anyone here using godaddy.com's pay web hosting service? If so, which one? Free is great, but the banners just suck. I can block them on my mozilla based windows with AdBlockPlus, but not every user browsing my site will and that just doesn't look good. If not godaddy, can anyone recommend similar services at a similar price point, <$10/mo? My site will be 90% information and links, no e-commerce, no forums, the other 10% will be photo galleries. AikiDale
I got the economy plan Dave and for less than $4.00 a month it does everything I need, mostly email. I posted a bunch of not very good pictures of a trip to Hawaii just after I got my first camera and they are still there...not much of a site, but easy to set up and maintain, customer service has always been friendly. www.dalematthews.com
D.Hayden
Are you using any server side code? (and if so what type) or just HTML?
John Heiter
I'm still a big fan of Jaguar. http://www.jaguarpc.com/ They've been very supportive, provide a wide array of tools, and allow me SSH into my sites. $8-12/mo depending on how long you will commit to. BigDave
HTML/CSS for now. I'd love to say I'd get into some Javascript for things like lightbox, but that is so far down the road I really can't say. I'm a greenhorn for sure and certain! D.Hayden
Javascript is client side (usually) So.. if you have all client side.. this place works well.. 1and1.com.. about $4 a month. If add a DB and/or server code later.. I think you can upgrade it to either Linux or Windows servers
ChrisStock
I'm using the pay service without issue here. It is very rough and a work in progress. I burned down the last site because I had a ton of coding issues with Flash, but it is working correctly. The content and layout are beat, but no banners from GD. jhgtyre
If you call GoDaddy at 480-366-3333 one of them can upgrade your account to a paid account. For $43 a year you will get 5gb of disk space and no banner ads. You can of course pay the $3.99 a month instead of the $43 but that is a PITA. -ld
kimel
+1 for GoDaddy. I have been using Domain Direct (aka Tucows) for several years but their customer service has gone to hell in a handbasket and the way they are packaging things now forces you to upgrade every time you renew. I have a couple sites on GoDaddy and all my DD sites will be moved to GoDaddy as their subscriptions get closer to expiration. The customer service at GoDaddy is awesome. FWIW...all my GoDaddy accounts are the paid accounts.

Tman33_99
I have just finished setting up the 1st pass of our clubs new website on GoDaddy. I have been using MS Publisher to build the site and so far it is doing what I want. I am lousy w/HTML so I haven't figured out how to make the links open a new page or tab, but for what I need it works. It is www.clearcreekpracticalshooters.org if you want to check it out. I have also built a custom 404 page and set up GoDaddy to send any bad pages to it. If you want to see that just modify or add to the end of a page to make it a bad page such as .org/gunporn
reneet
Banners do truly suck. I've been using Doteasy since 1998 and have been more than happy with the service. Several options and I've used several of them. Cactustactical
I am lousy w/HTML so I haven't figured out how to make the links open a new page or tab, but for what I need it works. You use the (target="_blank") inside your <a href="page" > statement to make your link open in a new window. You can add a slew of parameters to control the size of the page, what displays, etc. But, this is the minium you need to open a new page in its own window. Glockster35
I have several MMORPG games that I own that are hosted with A2Hosting.com, we have used several hosts in the last 4-5 months, and A2 is by far the best we have had. 0 issues so far in the last month! I hope to be with them long term!
