Looks for Range (1/11)

  1. I think a lot of low round count guns being sold is due to just not being a fit to the shooter. It can also be due to some people just trading guns. They buy, shoot a little, then move on to something else. I have a lot of things I've barely shot in my collection. Most of my guns are under 200 rounds each, but the ones I shoot I shoot a lot. My carry gun has a few thousand through it. My competition gun has several thousand. Plus, if you look at most guns you can see the difference between 200 rounds and 2000 rounds.
  2. Congrats. Be sure to post pics. My 6" full custom will be here in ~10 months. I'm trying to forget about it til then. I don't see how you guys do it. A friend has had an Open gun on order for a year now. I got lucky on mine and he had a Limited gun in stock when I ordered. I'd go nuts. I've been waiting a few months on a couple of AR-15s and it still drives me crazy.
  3. I've had Garmin units for years and really like them. Right now I have a C550 and like it better than the $2500 option Lexus offered. Easy to use.
  4. Super nice. I love my HK91 and HK93. I really want to add a 94 to complete the set. I wished I hadn't missed the DOJ stock that came through but I wasn't keeping up then.
  5. I sometimes use a Sig P226 in Production. The only mod is TruGlo sights and those are about to go. The front sight broke while my wife was shooting it. She saw it fly over her shoulder when the slide recoiled.... I want to find a thinner fiber sight for it.
  6. Here too. Two things I've learned while shooting stages. No sound is as loud as an empty chamber and you hearing *CLICK*. Nothing is as light as an empty magazine. I need to dig up a video I have of me shooting a classifier and having to dump two empty mags until I found one I had loaded.....
  7. That was a big one for me. I used to dip the gun between shots trying to see where I hit..and then I'd let the gun settle before moving to the next target. It's amazing how much time you kill on that. The best suggestion I can give to new shooters is have a friend video tape you shooting. You learn so much about how you run a stage from that.
  8. Great show. Better than I had expected. I started watching it late. Thought this comic was hilarious: http://www.pvponline.com/2008/04/09/on-a-s...orse-they-ride/
  9. My little boy was born 2 weeks ago today. I really hope he enjoys shooting and I can't wait to get him started. Started at 9 shooting matches? That's great. I hope mine is like that too.
  10. Agreed. I had an initial problem with my Brazos gun and Bob took great care of me. It's been rock solid since. A friend of mine sent his in recently to fix a small problem (due to wear..lots of rounds) and Bob was fast and did a great job. I'm seriously considering having him build me a carry 1911.
  11. I've used Host Excellence for years with no problems.
  12. If FF is using a lot of CPU time you may want to start disabling plug-ins.... Not extensions, but plug-ins. Some apps install them without telling you. I disabled all the non-essentials on mine and my CPU use for FF went way down.
  13. Agreed. FF3 is much better. FF2 has some big memory leaks. If you're like me and leave FF running for days on end you may want to try the new beta.
  14. I shoot right handed but am left eye dominant. I'm working on shooting with both eyes open but so far it's still in progress. I do see some people put scotch tape over one side of their glasses to help with the training.
