mgood
I shot Limited Division at the Texas State Limited . . . using a 9mm 1911 and all Singlestack Division legal gear and placement. Sort of challenging them on their own turf. I almost won D Limited. I know, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. But I had NO chance of winning in Singlestack or L10. I came within a hair of winning D Ltd, which would have gotten me a cool belt buckle and $250 STI contengency money. (With which I would have bought a frame to build another singlestack, probably in .45.) I competed where I thought I had the best chance of winning something. I had just that month moved up to C in SS and figured I had a better chance against the D Ltd shooters than against the C SS people.

mgood
Take it to em....Yeah... LIMITED OVERALL (showing D Class only) 70. Kristin Jarrard 598.9736 45.438% 75. Michael Goodwin 547.3482 41.521% 83. Kim Morris 451.5032 34.251% 88. Liota Wakal 291.2186 22.092% I zeroed one stage. The last stage Saturday I was about to die of heat stroke. I barely paid attention to the stage description, did a half-assed walkthrough, then sat in the shade with my head down, not even watching the others shoot, until it was my turn. I didn't care at that point. I didn't even notice a whole array of targets. The RO looked pretty surprised when I unloaded and showed clear. Not making excuses. I know that preparation, hydration, et cetera, is part of the game and I was unprepared. (Hey, it was my first major.) Kristin Jarrard did especially well on that stage. Throw out that one stage and I win D. Oh well, maybe next time. I was 75th out of 91 shooters in Limited Division and, I think, 114th out of 140 over all combined divisions. mgood
Good shooting, and you learned some valuable lessons. So it was a win-win Gotta love shooting Limited with SS gear Thanks. I proved something that I'd heard several times before. You can't win a match with one stage but you can lose a match on one stage. Zeroed one stage out of 12 and still shot into C Class range in Ltd with my SS rig. I really wanted that belt buckle. I've been beating just about every D shooter in every division at local matches for a while but getting whipped badly by most C shooters. So I thought it was worth a try. Still think it was a good strategy. I'm just proud I made it through my first major and didn't forget my holster or belt or something. And didn't DQ. Although, there was one place where I might have been DQ'd. After a stage, one of my squadmates asked me if I AD'd there. I was trying to figure out why the gun didn't fire, and it fired. I said "I was trying to make the gun fire, and I was pointing in the general direction of the targets. I just didn't really expect it to go off right then" I later figured out that I had not completely depressed the grip safety and when I changed my grip to see what happened, then it went. I "modified" the grip safety before my next match. It still moves normally, but it doesn't do anything.

wes777
He's the guy with the timer who looks like he has no chance of keeping up with that shooter. Pic from Double Tap. I shot with that dude at Texas state limited, but he was shooting limited that match. God it was hot. My gun decided that it would not release Tripp cobras for nothin. Had to fish out my ETMs to finish Sunday. First major, had a good time, learned allot. One day I will have that SS buckle! Or so I tell myself. GmanCdp
THE GOSPEL ACCORDING TO JOHN (MOSES BROWNING) 1 In the beginning was the 1911, and the 1911 was THE pistol, and it was good. And behold the Lord said, "Thou shalt not muck with my disciple John's design for it is good and it workith. For John made the 1911, and lo all of his weapons, from the designs which I, the Lord, gave him upon the mountain." 2 "And shouldst thou muck with it, and hang all manner of foul implements upon it, and profane its internal parts, thou shalt surely have malfunctions, and in the midst of battle thou shalt surely come to harm." 3 And as the ages passed men in their ignorance and arrogance didst forget the word of the Lord and began to profane the 1911. The tribe of the gamesman did place recoil spring guides and extended slide releases upon the 1911 and their metal smiths didst tighten the tolerances and alter parts to their liking, their clearness of mind being clouded by lust. 4 Their artisans did hang all manner of foul implements upon the 1911 and did so alter it that it became impractical to purchase. For lo, the artisans didst charge a great tax upon the purchasers of the 1911 so that the lowly field worker could not afford one. And the profaning of the internal parts didst render it unworkable when the dust of the land fell upon it, and these profaners didst try and fit more rounds of ammunition into the magazines than the holy number of seven, appointed for the .45. 5 And lo, they didst install adjustable sights, which are an abomination unto the Lord. For they doth break and lose their zero when thou dost need true aim. And those who have done so will be slain in great numbers by their enemies in the great battle. a 6 And it came to pass that the Lord didst see the abomination wrought by man and didst cause, as he had warned, fearful malfunctions to come upon the abominations and upon the artisans who thought they could do no wrong. 7 Seeing the malfunctions and the confusion of men, the lord of the underworld did see an opportunity to further ensnare man and didst bring forth pistols made of plastic, whose form was such that they looked and felt like a brick, yet the eyes of man being clouded, they were consumed by the plastic pistol and did buy vast quantities of them. 8 And being a deceitful spirit, the lord of the underworld did make these plastic pistols unamenable to the artisans of earth and they were unable to muck much with the design, and lo these pistols did appear to function. 9 And the evil one also brought forth pistols in which the trigger didst both cock and fire them and which require a "dingus" to make them appear safe. 10 But man being stupid did not understand these new pistols and didst proceed to shoot themselves with the plastic pistol and with the trigger cocking pistols for lo their manual of arms required great intelligence which man had long since forsaken. Yet man continue to gloat over these new pistols blaming evil forces for the negligent discharges which they themselves had committed. 11 And when man had been totally ensnared with the plastic pistol, the lord of the underworld didst cause a plague of the terrible Ka-Boom to descend upon man and the plastic pistols delivered their retribution upon men. And there was a great wailing and gnashing of teeth in the land. 12 Then seeing that the eyes of man were slowly being opened and that man was truly sorrowful for his sinful misdeeds, the Lord did send his messengers in the form of artisans who did hear and obey the teachings of the prophet and who didst restore the profaned 1911s to their proper configuration, and lo, to the amazement of men they didst begin to work as the prophet had intended. 13 And the men of the land didst drive out the charlatans and profaners from the land, and there was joy and peace in the land, except for the evil sprits which tried occasionally to prey on the men and women of the land and who were sent to the place of eternal damnation b by the followers of John. wes777
Na, no jersey. Rocked the FrankenSTI ( second match with a SS) and a bumble f@&$ rig to match. Was the only U shooter in SS. Seriously messed up some stages. Learned the hard way that there is an art to squading. First major and the first two stages were the high point ones. Epic fail. What a blast. Anopsis
Happy shooter here. I have finished my Caspian .40 SS! Freedom Gunworks tri-topped it and parkerized it. I uploaded a handful of pics in the gallery here, but here's a shot of the girl: In my application here I mentioned the serial number, but as a reminder here's how I feel about SS division (numeric suffixed edited out):
