TDean
If Mattas compares to La Parrilla Suiza, I'll give it a try. LPS has the best darn Mexican food ever!
jasmap
Funny you mention La Parilla Suiza. I was there tonight. I went to the one at Stapley and the 60. If you go you HAVE to get the Queso Suiza.

uscbigdawg
In Tempe, anywhere pretty much on Mill Street isn't bad. If you're going to get some shooting in, near Rio is Papa Kelso's (last time I was there). If you like sushi, Zen 32 on 32nd Street and Camelback (northwest corner) is awesome (in Phoenix). jhgtyre
Are any of the places mentioned family/kid-friendly? Red, White and Brew, Matta's, and La Parilla Suiza are family friendly. If your are staying at the match hotel there are a ton of the chain type places in the area. In addition to the Brew and some of the others mentioned I really like My Big Fat Greek Restaurant which is on Southern near the mall and the match hotel and Old Chicago Pizza which is across the street and down a block from the match hotel. Both of those places are family friendly as well. -Larry

markcic
For seafood, the place I like the best in town is the Salt Cellar in Scottsdale on Hayden. Sushi on Shea is great for sushi. There are a couple of McCormick and Smicks in town as well that are great. For steak there is Ruth Chris and Morton. The best steak I have ever had came from Masto's in Scottsdale which isn't cheap but it is good. Malee's On Main in Old Scottsdale has excellent Thai food. Don't order it Thai hot though. It will take your head off but do order a few painkillers. They are a drink with several kinds of rum that is aptly name. I have never eaten there but the Heart Attack Grill looks to have interesting waitresses.
