murkish
Brian Wooten of Too Smooth out of Austin. Too Smooth evolved out of a band called Stump whose lead guitar was SRV. When he moved on, Brian took his place. Brian now plays guitar for Trace Adkins. Edited October 14, 2010 by murkish
StraightUp_OG
Best guitar player you NEVER heard of? Craig Soderberg from a band called - itis from Colorado. Their stage antics are an acquired taste but there is no doubt of their musicianship. The video is from their last performance in Phoenix. The solo starts at about 1:54 and builds. He has a new cover band in Colorado so check him out if you get a chance he is a monster. Edited February 17, 2011 by StraightUp_OG

Biloxi23
Not exactly unknown, but the best guitarm show I ever saw (besides Hendrix in old Tulane Stadium in 68 or 69) was the G3-03 tour in the Saenger Theater on 4 November 2003. Joe Satriana, Steven Vai an Yngwie Johann Malmsteen. the Saenger is a very old theater, and when YJM was doing his electronic feedback out of all those Marshall Plexi's, bats were keeling over in the attic from teh high frequency squeal. Loud, but man there was some pickin' going on.

swhiteh3
I will always be an Alex Lifeson fan. There are tons of other guitar players I watch every I chance I get, and try to emulate (Petrucci, Satriani, etc) but Alex Lifeson was my first!
