Second shot

When I'm pushing it (splits below .18) the second shot is low....like 4-6 inches low, sometimes. Does it a little bit with major pf ammo but is much worse with some minor stuff I have laying around. 

 

That can ONLY be caused by a recoil spring that's too heavy? Any other causes? Not seeing anything on video.

Pushing with your hands and excess tension can easily do it.

This is a newer gun to me; it's got a huge thumb rest. Correlation?

Pull that off if it comes off easily.  Make sure you have plenty of trigger overtravel if it's adjustable.  Go back to a straight neutral grip, focusing hard on what your hands and shoulders and arms are doing and how tense they are when you're shooting.

Too much tension in your firing hand. You are over gripping as you speed up.

Maybe try loading up some dummy rounds, and alternating live rounds with dummies. I used this to diagnose some issues when I was shooting doubles. I'd pull the trigger twice, the second shot should be a click, and I can see exactly what my hands are doing.

You are using too much pressure on the thumb rest and not gripping hard enough with your left hand.  The rest is there to locate your hand on the grip, not so you can control the gun under recoil.  A secondary reason may be pulling the trigger too hard on the second shot while trying for that fast split.

Never been a problem before...only occurring in THIS foray into Open. 

 

I'm scowling at the thumb rest, but also wondering a little bit about the comp/my load.

Idk if it were me and I tend to tune guns to how I shoot, these guys maybe right but I cant leave springs alone and wind up cha going things to see if they work better
