slavex
I got 5 of the very first ones from Saul, and two of them had the issue of not staying tight, but DAA had sent the replacement parts before I'd even received my pouches so a week later I had installed the updates. That was back in July and I've beaten the crap out of these pouches with no bending of the material where the dovetail is, I'm a big guy and rolling over from side to side in a prone position hasn't wrecked these pouches. They are rock solid. I added loctite to all the screws once I was happy with the placement of the ball joint on the pouch, and that might be what has kept mine nice and tight. were the screw to loosen, even with the ball, and allow the pouches to wiggle and wobble, you might get some bending of the material. I'm just waiting for the titanium versions of these to be revealed at IWA.......
Luck2011
Had a few buddies send them back for a refund . One couldn't keep them from moving the other guy had two of his fall off during a match... looks like they need some improvement but glad to hear DA is taking care of there customer's. I for one will stick with the racemater pouches
858
I like mine. Get them tight and use thread locker, no drama. My only complaint is the M4 screws for the belt attachment were low quality and the heads stripped. I emailed DAA and they sent me new screws. I replaced them with Grade 10.9 M4 from Mcmaster Carr however.

Jason Krywicki
here's what I used to fix my pouches. Now they're rock solid: McMaster-Carr P/N 1598K24 (https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/124/3863) McMaster-Carr P/N 92015A128 (https://www.mcmaster.com/catalog/124/3142)

(They're less than $20 plus shipping but I only need a set of 3, I'd have an extra 97 balls and 47 set screws rolling around the shop. I'd give you $10.00 for 5 of each shipped. (I still have a couple of bags of hi tensile stainless spring pins from a M&P project of a few years ago, I keep sending them to friends on the S&W forum)

doublealpha
Hi Guys, All the pouches, since after the very first batch, have shipped with the shorter screw and steel ball in the ball joint. with that setup, very few have experienced any issue, so long as the screw is tight. I recommend a little locktite in the screw to keep it that way, once you know the position you like. if anyone has a pouch causing them problems and he does not have that small steel ball and shorter screw, just contact us as DAA, and we will gladly send the parts out free of charge. email us at daa(at)doublealpha.biz thanks, and shoot well! Saul Kirsch.

AWLAZS
14 hours ago, lacivilian said: So is the ball now like the racemaster pouch where it becomes dented? The ball acts like a wedge to expand the mount into the base. It is not used in the same way on the racemaster stuff.
EddieCrispo
Thats not to cool for some of the most expensive mag pouches out right now. I've always been a fan of Saul Kirsch and DAA in general but i would have to think twice about upgrading from my Race master mag pouches after seeing that.I was at the Gator Classic a few weeks ago and my buddy literally lost 2 new DAA pouches and couldnt find where they fell off at because of the way they mount. I think he had to buy new pouches or borrow some to finish day 2.Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
EddieCrispo
Just sent mine back for same reason. The magazine pouch body is novel and certainly cool, however the mounting system is less than confidence inspiring. I'll be using my Polymer Racers until they come out with a more robust mounting system. Note: DAA customer service was very helpful and nice.2nd that.....Customer service has been nice and I am also waiting for a new mounting system before I go back to DAA. For the mean time I got the guga ribas pouches and they have been great. They dont stick and fully adjustable!Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
EddieCrispo
How do these compare to the race master pouches?Almost the exact same except with plastic inserts and a less than desirable mounting system. My preference would say to wait on these new ones until they can figure a way to keep them on your belt.Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
EddieCrispo
my buddy bought 5 of these pouches a few days ago, last night 2 of them came apart and my picture looks about the same as the one posted by the op,double alpha responded this morning and are being great about this,so no this isnt a piss on AA this is a topic started by a guy that had some issues with a product and i think he did a great job by posting it to see if others are having the same issues, now that thats out im curious as to the fix,AA suggests that the balljont allen may not hve been tight enough and is asking us to retighten as tight as we can get,we tried this and im still able to grab the mag roughly and get the pouch to pop off,so my buddy will be getting a replacement, now where im going with this is,was there a probem with the first set or was it not being tight enough and it opened the dovetail up,what are others thoughts? thanxs! Thanks for your reply. You are exactly right. Not a disc on DAA at all. Just wanting to get an idea of how bad the issue is. I've seen it first hand to be a continued issue so ai hope they figure a new mounting system soon because I really like the DAA line.Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk Use the ball bearings I listed above. This fixes the issue completely. Saul even posted that this is what they all come with now. You need that ball bearing to wedge in to expand the split fingers to hold into the groove of the pouch. Once you do this, they are solid.

I got the updated version with the ball bearings. I was able to crank down but the problem is the material on the pouch itself expanding and bending. At that point the hanger gets loose and falls out and can never be mounted again in that same spot.Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk

SpiceMan
Bought five of these new Alpha X pouches and had the same problem. I was really disappointed but thanks to this Forum, I realize that I was not the only one with this problem. I realized I had the older ball bearing. I emailed DAA and I must say that they were very helpful in getting the matter resolved. They replaced the older attachment with the new ones with the steel ball bearing. I installed that and it made a big difference. I will update after I had a few range practice sessions with the new pouches. I must say that I was impressed with the DAA customer service. Splicer64
Hi all..thx for this thread its helpful. I thought to ask of others experience with these mag pouches. I was thinking of getting some of these for (production) and with the inserts for single stack... if I go that way I could just change the inserts. It seems to me the issues have been addressed with the upgrades, what are your thoughts as to the future of these pouches? Thank You

I have the upgraded version, but it still doesn't work -- the ball joint attachment to dovetail is a bad design. I would recommend skipping these. I went back to CR Speed... Splicer64
Thank you for replying..I'm thinking of S.S. and pouches for that..I shoot production and use ghost pouches..they work fine for me. The Alpha X seem like a versatile pouch being able to use an adapter for S.S.
