XRe
Input on locations in the Original Thread have petered out, so I guess it's time to open a poll on it, now. If we come up with more, well... I'll plead with a Mod to get them added, and we'll figure out the voting, then If you haven't voted in the Match Format poll, please do so The explanations of the choices follow - please realize that many of these choices are "we have interest in going there" at this point - we'd have to approach the range leadership if we decided on one of those, and determine if they'll have us. We only have one range that's for certain, at this point. Also, realize that location is going drive our entry fee price to some extent, as some places may charge us more for the use of the facility than others... Don Sawyer's (Azone41) range in Altus, OK. In the orginal thread, posts 7, 8, and 11 describe this range in Don's words. Basically, a full featured range with big match experience, plenty of props and steel, cover, etc. They are set up for concessions, already, as well. The range is about 2 hours from the nearest airport, which is about the only drawback that I can see. This is the only range that has confirmed that they would love to have us there, at this point, and we can come any time we want, pretty much. The Indian Territory Practical Shooters ClubIndian Territory Practical Shooters Club (ITPSC) in Southwest OK, vounteered by Rex (Precision40). PASA in Barry, IL - home to many a fine USPSA match, in the past. Certainly capable of containing our match, and well known to many of us. Shares the Altus range's drawback of not bearing very close to a major airport. Silver Creek Conservation Club in Sellersburg. IN. AikiDale might be able to give us more info on this one. Bluegrass Sportsmens Club in Lexington, KY. AikiDale, again Atlanta CC North of Indianapolis, IN. AikiDale again Double Tap Ranch in Wichita Falls, TX. These folks seem to have put on a heck of a match on this new range built for action shooting events. The Clark's range in Shreveport, LA Invade Patches' Mississippi Sectional match and take over The Whittington Center in NM (NRA range?) Frank Garcia's range in Frostproof, FL - previously home to FIPT, now home to that other great FL match. Nice range... NOTE - I had to leave Whittington out of the poll, as we can only put 10 choices in, so... if you want Whittington, pipe up below!!!
carinab
The Clark range has plenty of space and Shreveport has casinos. Airfare can be cheaper into DFW w/ a 2 hour drive rather than going to Shreveport directly as well. They hire a local group to set up stages so I don't know how scheduling would be. Renee could answer better than I. Florida is appealling too as you can bring the family - only issue for me is I'd want to be with my kid on her first trip to see the mouse. Double tap could use the funds and Wichita Falls ain't that bad - just about 2hrs from DFW. No attractions but shooters make their own fun! I'm surprised Robert hasn't piped up yet. That would be my preferences.
Jeeper
I cant believe that you forgot........ the home of Benos....and the fact it is the shooting Mecca......Rio Salado!!!!
hopalong
It doesn't really matter to me, where we have it but I can say this.... The Mississippi state match is already going to be there, no more stetting up or planning, Patches already has it going on..... If we decide to have a few side matches we then would have to coordinate with Patches and get them worked out.... (minor compared to setting up an entire match) Here is where we could get some $$$$$ for the forums if we end up in MS. MY .02 !!!! HOP Oh yeah! Jeeper, Brian has said Robbie told him RIO is BOOKED unless we wait until it is available.

sfinney
Precision40 and Azone41 above are the same range.... Altus, OK, FWIW. Either Doubletap or Altus, OK gets my vote....
dajarrel
Voted for MS classic invasion. Anything in the southeast would work. MS, LA or TX are all great choices for me. FWIW dj

Rising Sight
If there was a match somewhere in the northwest then I would go. Oregon,Washington and Idaho. Is there enough members here from these areas to put together a match?
Azone41
SFinney is right ,Rex(P40) and I are talking about the same range. ITPSC. Doubletap is a very nice range as well ask anybody that went to the last big match.

Perhaps a mod could remove one of the two entries?? Maybe add in the NRA facility at the bottom, if that's possible?? No biggie, if not - I'll just lump the two together then. Sorry for the confusion
XRe
I see, this is an all-North American, read USA topic If you want to interpret it that way, that's your choice - but, read on... But:....this forum and it's members can be found worldwide, what 'bout them? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> - we solicited feedback for a couple of weeks or so, all told, and no one piped up and suggested a non-US location - having a match anywhere in the world is going to exclude some other group of people somewhere else in the world, due to cost of travel, etc - there's no avoiding this, unfortunately. - it would be neat to have more than one match, located in different areas of the world, if there's enough interest in other places - feel free to put one together!! - this match is by and for the forum membership, and to raise funds for the forum - therefore, your participation is most welcome. Feel free to join in! - the folks that have stepped up to try and put this together seem to all be US located, partially explaining the US centric view point. No offense is intended by this - please don't take any. - we'd love to have you come have fun, regardless of what part of the world you live in!!! sfinney
One side note, DoubleTap and the Altus range both are 2 to 3 hours from a major metro airport. Easy drive, plenty of hotels, plenty of food, but not a major metro. You can connect into SPS (Wichita Falls) for usually about $50 or so more than Dallas/FW, if you catch a good fare sale though. I also would vote for Frostproof for vacation potential!!
warpspeed
Yea - Can we add Las Vegas ? If we can't make it in AZ, LV, NV next best - At least for us Left Coasters
ErikW
Last I heard Desert Sportsmen's club in Vegas wanted $10,000 to rent their range. That might have changed (witness the return of USPSA 3 gun). How many bays/stages are required for this match?
XRe
How many bays/stages are required for this match? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Depending on how the match ends up structured - probably in the neighborhood of 8 minimum, and 10-12 would be much nicer (would allow us to keep everything setup through the weekend, perhaps). That's for "big match" w/ side-match/challenges.. Where around Vegas is a range?? That doesn't cost 10K - cause, frankly, that's a bit silly, unless y'all want to pay $150 match fee... which I don't....

geezer-lock
Altus, ITPSC, Double Tap, and Clarks are all an easy drive for me. It doesn’t take much to entertain me (I shoot bowling pins in a gravel pit for crying out loud) so casinos are not a big draw. I don’t much care for the idea of combining this with another event. I’ll bring a six pack of Makers Mark if I don’t have to fly. geezer
Nemo
Voted for García's place because would make it an almost local match for zhunter, Smitty, PaulW, myself and other members residing in these mosquito-infested flatlands. However, wouldn't mind going to the Clark's, OK or TX. I just want to go!! Thanx XRe for your effort on compiling this info.
