CB45
I just want to someone to tell me exactly what to load. Figuring out what powder charge, OAL, Crimp, Etc... is irritating me. Worst part about it is that anytime you change guns or bullets, or powder, you have to do it all over again Ahhhh!!!! /end rant
Miranda
oops. this is a hate. I agree! it is a horror to go to the range and shoot a lot of ammo. it seems like work! miranda Edited April 18, 2014 by Miranda
Youngeyes
Absolutely. Nothing I hate more than going to the range and shooting a lot of ammunition. Then I have to do it over and over again. Grrrrr........
Steve RA
Pick a load that works and stick with it !!!
Hi-Power Jack
Figuring out what powder charge, OAL, Crimp, Etc... is irritating me. I set the crimp one time for my 9mm, and that was 7 years ago. Once you select the bullet you're going to use, you set the OAL one time, and that's it. Once you select a powder, I just adjust that as often as I like - makes softer and more powerful loads, depending on what I'm doing ... Not too hard. Leadpilot
I like trying different combos. When you find "the one" it makes the hobby that more gratifying.
Matt W
Yep doing the same thing now. Not going to put a lot of work into it though, it will just drive me to drink, lol
Lifeislarge
I concur. Load development REALLY sucks. It's expensive and frustrating. I end up loading 20 rounds of each weight, 10 for the chrono and 10 for the 25 yard target. Usually work up with at least five loads in tenth of a grain increments. 40 minute drive to the range so add some gas to the equation at almost $4 a gallon (next hate rant) and its a half a day and some dough just to find out your load still sucks. Ugh.
Chills1994
Does it make power factor? Can it hit a 3X5 card consistently? That is all my "load development" has ever consisted of. My draws and "double taps" were real consistent Friday at the range: The picture is a little funny because the plate is in the trunk. gm iprod
Why were you shooting your plate in the truck? Sorry, but I love load development, just another way of having fun with guns and trying new stuff. I know it's against the rules. But more shooting = more fun. Chills1994
Ha! Ha! Testing out a new target stand design, one that actually fits in the trunk of a car, and can still be height adjustable to 4 feet or 5 feet and 6 feet mainly for the IDPA guys who want to practice their classifier. If a guy was really good at developing a website, a guy could make up a site where you picked out what components you were using and it would spit out real world results people have uploaded or entered. The closest thing I have found is at handloads.com and using the advanced search function here on BE.
GunBandit
You may try loaddata.com. They have a lot of information/loads with different powders and bullet combos. I haven't drilled down deep enough but I think they have data for what gun it was shot in too. To give you an idea.
Reshoot
You bunch of haters! I thoroughly enjoy developing loads. I find it a rewarding challenge, especially for a long range rifle.
DEP44
What I hate is the unavailability of components that I used to develop a load.
kevinj308
Do some searching on BE, can't imagine that not getting you pretty close. Take care Kevin
AdvocatusDiaboli
I'm going through this now. It is a PITA. It's not that I don't enjoy shooting. I just feel like I'm wasting valuable range time and ammo because it doesn't do much for improving my speed with my gun... which is what I need.
