tanfogliocoe
Im contemplating purchasing a new svi rear sight. They are quite a bit more expensive compared to other sights on the market. Are they worth the extra cash??
Alphamikefoxtrot
They aren't going to make you any more accurate than a Dawson. Are they built better? I don't know, but I can tell you that I wouldn't expect more than a Dawson would provide. If you want to pay a lot more for it to say infinity, then go for it. I've done that exact same thing before, but I'm all about looking better than I shoot.
ebg3
I've got two SV rear sights and have had no issues. They seem to be very strong. EG Edited February 10, 2013 by ebg3
Browning40
While some foks have had good luck with Dawson sights, I broke 3 Dawsons in six months. First the front pin came out, then elevation screw broke (twice). Bought an SV competition and have had no issues. I like the removal of the corners on the competition sight. Dawson makes GREAT products and I'm sure they make great sights. Maybe my gun didn't like the sight!
JaeOne3345
I love mine. Built much nicer than the STI Bomar clone I had on it previously.
pjb45
Got one. Like it a lot. Their steel is quite strong, it is well engineered. Call Brandon first because they have several models which require a special cut.
MoNsTeR
What's the notch depth on the SVI sight?
CAB33
Best built sight out there, I've been shooting it for 2 years and still rock solid.
ROY NEAL
Worth the $$. Not only do I have them on my SV's....(what a shock, right), but I have had them put on many of the high end 1911`s of my friends and clients. You might have to call Brandon to see what one is right for you but worth the effort to get the right one.
tanfogliocoe
Thats good to know. I also like the cuts on the rear blade as well. Looks like a really solid sight.
usp45ss
They are worth the money. I've broken Bomars, Dawsons, and STIs. They offer different height models for SV or Bomar cuts so plan accordingly.
RangerTrace
They are worth the money. I've broken Bomars, Dawsons, and STIs. They offer different height models for SV or Bomar cuts so plan accordingly. I've got around 15K on my 6" and the sight have never lost zero nor has the pin ever walked out. They are rock solid. GuyC
I used them on my custom and they are top notch, it's worth a little more money.
Bullzeye
They are made of billet steel and are of SVI quality. Probably worth the extra money.
Aggieddad02
I am planning to use the SVI rear sight on my new 2011 build. What should I use for the front FO sight to match? Thanks
38SuperDub
.180 height .100 width fiber
lneel
I am planning to use the SVI rear sight on my new 2011 build. What should I use for the front FO sight to match? Thanks Use a SV FRont sight as well. Brandon creates a cut under the fiber optic and polishes the cut to reflect even more light. If you like a fiber optic rear sight he does the same thing. Also, as stated, these parts are made from billet and made in Texas! The rear is available in the standard Bomar cut or a Infinity low profile cut. JaeOne3345
I prefer .160 dawson or a .180 SV. The .180 dawson sits much higher above the slide. Both companies measure their sights differently.
tanfogliocoe
I currently run a sv fiber front sight. Fiber is a little on the big side but overall, I like it.
Bunsen
I currently run a sv fiber front sight. Fiber is a little on the big side but overall, I like it. Do you get a decent amount of daylight on either side or does the fiber fill the whole rear?

Julien Boit
I've had several differents brand of rear sights on my pistols and the SV is by far the finest I found. The Infinity low cut also gives me more flexibility when dealing with the IPSC box because the dovetail is lower than Bomar cuts.
ROY NEAL
I realize some might consider me a bit bias.....however, I have used other brands before I had SV put one of their first produced rear sights on my limited gun. Have them on all my 1911's and have ordered them for many other clients 1911's as well. Yeah, they cost more than some but as in most things in life, you get what you pay for. They sit lower (how I like them ) allowing for my guns to fit the IPSC box with no issues at all including the 5.4 inch Sight Tracker and +2 old style wedge base pads on 126mm tubes.
