  1. This this this. Very correct. The entire drop vs no drop thing is gonna vary from person to person. I have a short torso and fairly long arms. I hate having to draw my single stack with the correct rules. My magwell literally touches my bicep when my hands are at my sides when following the ridiculous SS holster height rules. For my body type, I have much faster and relaxed draw with a a DOH. My magwell hits my forearm. Much better than having it rest at my bicep. I am a big fan of the BOSS.
  2. People that wear suspenders don't like running LOL. Looking at the results, it was funny seeing how many super seniors there were.
  3. No thanks. The shape of a metal grip from PT or SV is far superior than any grip reduction in my opinion. I have tiny hands. Even with a short curve trigger the polymer grip was always a tad big for me. The metal grips make it perfect.
  4. I cracked on my limited gun shooting 40 major, but that is besides the point. When you examine a quality grip like a PT or SV you can the difference in construction at the crack prone areas. It is simply a bad design.
  5. I cracked one of the supposedly updated black anodized grips. Went on my frame without fuss. Cracked in less than 10k. Spend the extra money on something from PT or SV.
  6. All you need is a standard Lee sizer set up properly.
  7. Whoever said WST will have issues at major is trippin'. Try 4.8 at 1.180" with the coated bullets. I make major everywhere.
  8. Yup, never buy any small things like that from SV. They will charge you 12.50 for shipping two elevation springs.
  9. Aaron is great to deal with. Converted by 9 round Corey system mags to the normal 10 round system set up so I could run 10 rounds of minor 40. Really friendly on the phone, and got them back to me fast. I typically can't stand dealing with gun people, since many of them act like you owe them something beyond the money you are already paying. Not the case with Tripp!
  10. Find a smith who welds. They should be able to add material back to the safety and refit your same safety to the gun. My smith does this. Takes him no time at all.
  11. Do you think said person will have any interest shooting Limited eventually? If so, get the gun in 40sw. My Trojan ran factory 40 and long 40 without a problem from the start. With Tripp System mags you have the ability to run 8 rounds of major or 10 rounds of minor 40 and still fit the box. I just don't see the need for 45acp in SS unless that is the only caliber you shoot, or you're 65. (Gonna go run and hide now...)
  12. I personally think it is overrated. It does perform well, is stable, meters well, etc, but for the price, I would rather use WST, Ramshot Comp, or even Alliant Clay Dot. I have never had an issue with WST metering, going minor, etc. $100 for 4 lbs vs $130 for 8? No brainer.I still have 16lbs of N320, and I am gonna try to trade it for WST along with some cash from the person I trade with.
  13. Corey mag + flex? Are you saying your situation is like mine? I originally bought my magazines as "Corey" mags when I called. System mags, with hybrid followers that only hold 9 when full. I attempted to convert them to normal non Corey System mags that hold 10. I mistakenly and incorrectly ONLY ordered flex followers and swapped followers myself. But after speaking with Virgil, the system mag when ordered from them (non Corey config) uses a different spring, and the front of the followers are reshaped as well. This was from Virgil himself, yesterday on the phone. This is why I cannot get a reloadable ten in my mags. I can squeeze ten extremely tight.
  14. Oh, they work just fine. I can reload them with 9 if necessary. They are not ten reloadable, though. Virgil said I need a shorter spring and there are modifications to the flex follower that need to take place. I didn't talk to Virgil the first time around, but someone else. Oh well.
  15. I have to apologize. I determined that I don't have the correct springs in my Tripp System mags in order to run 10 reloadable. Mine are in fact too long. I originally ordered mine as Corey mags with the hybrid follower, but later had an interest in the 10 round Flex follower set up. When I called, I was told all I would need was the followers, but that obviously wasn't the case. I am glad I figured this out!
  16. Yea, the die and measure from your 650 will work. The 1050 powder funnel does not expand (only bell), since that is taken care of in the swage/expand station.

  18. Sad part is they are only $5 apart on price. Maybe the billet STI uses is a weaker alloy. 6061 vs 7075, but that isn't the only difference. You can visually see that the area above the mag catch is much beefier on the PT units than the STI. I have at least 15-20k on the PT grip which is installed on my limited gun. But I am upgrading to the steel anyway.
  19. My PT aluminum has been going and going. MY STI aluminum grips were horrible. I can't recommend them. I hope they get it right one day.
  20. No, it's gonna happen since the aluminum is softer than the steel. I am not sure shock buff marks are a good determining factor in whether a slide is slamming too hard. Sometimes slides shred buffs because the tunnel area is left sharp, and just acts like a knife. The 10 feels so good to me I am willing to take a reduction in lifespan of the slide, if it even happens.
