Red_SC
I forgot why I didn't buy Federals, and picked up 2 bricks the other day. Edited July 19, 2012 by Red_SC
PKT1106
I know. I wonder how much they could save by packaging them like, oh, every other company?

lrf
It takes two shakes on my primer flip tray to get them all flat
DougCarden
As they are more sensitive than other primers, they are packaged differently. The large Dillon primer flip tray was sized up for this tray. DougC
BillD
I load my tubes with a Vibra Prime. I sold 10K Federal SRP because of the packaging and bought CCI, which I can slide open and have all of the primers correctly oriented on my Vibra Prime tray. Besides that, they take up 3 or 4 time the amount of room in the cabinet as other primers.
pjb45
Perhaps the packaging is due to a lawsuit. Personally, I use Federal more than any other type. Many years ago J. Edwards, you know the Senator, VP candidate, adulterer, sued a flu shot maker and won a big lawsuit. Every flu vaccine shortage is due to that lawsuit because the all moved out of the USA. bofe954
Sad to say, but they could all learn a lesson from Wolf. Every primer properly oriented, no flipping necessary...
BillD
Wolf uses scotch tape on every 100 pk. Which sucks to have to remove. I think CCI and WIN have the best packaging.
Heckler
Besides that, they take up 3 or 4 time the amount of room in the cabinet as other primers. Cabinet space is my only issue with Federal. Other than that they are great.
ranger
There was urban legend a decade or so ago that Federal changed their packages after an incident

I also use federal... And was dismayed to hear that one of our "honorable" Senators would do/cause such a thing... so I looked into it a little. Looks like we have most of Congress/Senate to blame, not just John Edwards. Vaccine for Children Act
bierman
While I like the product, I cuss the packaging (and whoever designed/approved it)every time I load primer tubes.

blind bat
I always wondered if it was all marketing. It looks like a bigger box for the same price, right? Not to mention the font size is big enough that open shooters can see what they are buying.
Guy Neill
Federal has always had a larger package because they use a more sensitive form of lead styphnate. Part of the approval from DOT includes things like drop tests that the packaging/primers must survive to allow shipping. Some years back the US agreed to abide by international shipping regulations, and they were even more severe, mandating Federal to change (enlarge) the packaging further.
