NROI Recertification Question

Recommended Posts

I'm having some trouble choosing an answer for a NROI recertification question. The question has to do with, while you are ROing, you tell the next shooter to Make Ready. When the shooter pulls the slide back an empty case is ejected from the gun. How should an RO handle this situation?

You have the rulebook for reference, right?

Getting the answers from elsewhere is not in the spirit of the test.

Ouch!

On a related note, when will my recert post to my profile? I passed the test, but it's still showing my expiration is this year.

Same issue here. i took it today and passed. My guess is when they run the update like they do for the classifiers, it will update then. When i renewed my membership last month, that is what happened. It didn't show until the updated occured.

Correct. And +1 to what George said!

Yes, I have the rule book. I've dug through it and even did a electronic search through the rule book on the USPSA website and I can't find any description for this situation.

The only "empty case" talked about in the rules pertains to the Safety Area.

dont look for the exact information in the question. Look for what the idea of what the question is testing. The test is meant to be a little hard, meaning you cant just flip to the back of the index and get the rules. There is interpretation in each question that is asked.

Don't give up. The test is cleverly designed to make you spend some serious quality time with the rule book...hang in there, keep digging and you will find the guidance necessary to answer to this and a host of other questions that may eventually come up at a match, allowing you to amaze your fellow shooters and ROs with your correct interpretation of all sorts of complicated issues. :D

I'm totally with George. I'm also happy to see that other posters have provided encouragement, and steered thinking, without pointing to a specific answer....

This is one of the more difficult questions to answer correctly with the appropriate rule references. Many have a distinct rule or pair of rules that you can point to. In this case it is 2+2+2+2 = 8. This one is a combination of the Appendix + Rule 1 + Rule 2 + Rule 3 to fully define the appropriate rules that combine for the final decision.

You know its porn now you just have to site the right rules to make it stick.

I'm just glad the entire test is not set up that way.
