Hey guys new shooter here (A82820) and decided to jump right into Open. I've shot 5 qualifiers since late January and finally got a qualification this week.

Open C (40.22) is where I start but my goal is to be B before year end. Highest so far is my last qualifier at 58.9%.

Is B reasonable to expect?

Absolutely reasonable, heck A class could be attainable if you practice enough!

JD, I didn't see you in C or B. Have you made it to A?

I'm still firmly planted in C class. I'm not in the races, don't shoot often enough to be concerned about my classification.

Me either. But I get a warm feeling just knowing it's out there.

Add me to the race please, need all the help and motivation I can get.

TY 79986 - Limited 54.66. Started the year unclassified in Limited goal has been to make B this year.

I am shooting pretty well in matches, but keep letting the classifiers get into my head. Any advice on how to convince your self the classifier is just another stage in the match are welcome. I seem to either blow it completely going to fast or go to slow and end up with good hits but slow times.

If you're shooting well in matches but not classifiers it's because your either, trying or thinking. You can't do either consistently enough to put together 6-8 different classifiers in a row trying to shoot above your level. Sure everyone can go hero or zero occasionally but not consistently enough to get bumped up.

Just shooting them within your current skillset will likely yield much better scores that trying.

When you shoot with a GM and they kill it, they're not trying to do anything, their comfortable shooting pace is just that much better than ours.

Another way to look at it is no MLB player consistently tries to hit home runs, they think make solid contact and it just happens. You can tell when they try because they end up walking back to the dugout after just striking out

Please add me as well A85028

Thanks I have done the just shoot the stage, mental game. Honestly that is what worked the best for me, just haven't figured out to mentally do that with any type of consistency. Working on it though. Thanks for the advise, now I know I am least headed in the right direction.

Mentality, consistency, and speed are the things separating you, me, "us", from B, A, and beyond. Practice, drive, and effort WILL make you improve and move to B, complacency will keep you here forever.

Being a C shooter is not a definition of WHAT you are, but merely WHERE you are today. Each classification is a stepping stone that gets progressively further and further away, it's up to us to decide if we are comfortable where we are or decide we're going to do what it takes to jump to the next one. B Class seems to be where most people decide they are comfortable, they get off the train and forget all about improving.

A lot of people say things like, I JUST want to make B,A,M, etc. if you were to ask almost any GM, Pro player, or someone at the elite/upper level of anything, this mentality is totally foreign to them. They set goals, when they get NEAR achieving them they've already mentally moved on to the next goal without even pausing to think about the achievement.

In this sport, climbing a mountain doesn't get you to the top of anything, all it does is give you a better view of all the higher mountains left to climb.
