  1. If you decide to get rid of those slides, let me know. I have a couple of shadows and have been thinking of having one milled for DPP. I saw the CZC dovetail optic mount and like the idea of that simply because it's not permanent. Have any of you tried that?
  2. After weighing my options on this subject, I actually ordered a SS RO today. I can't rule out using this in competition, but I bought it just because I wanted one. Having said that, what minimum modifications do you RO owners make to improve this pistol? I assume removing the ILS system for one.
  3. Each season keeps getting better. The British seem to make 5-6 episodes a season for 3-4 years, making higher quality shows. Unlike season 20 of our US crap.
  4. I can hit about 8 of 10 at 200 yards and about 5 of 10 at 300 yards with a 147 gr Xtreme. Target is a 2 foot plate and rifle is an AR with a 5 inch barrel with a T-2. If I had a magnified optic I'm sure that I could hit them all on a calm day. If I put a magnified optic on, I would love to set up some targets to see the spread.
  5. What's the details on your loads? I'm at 1.155" COL with a 147 Zero JHP and 1.150" with a SNS 147 NLG coated flat point. I am using 147 Zero FMJ @1.150. I will only use brass made in the USA. Almost all foreign brass and the 147 will not pass the case gauge so I gave up on foreign brass and only use brass made in the USA and have not had any jams or case gauge failures. I figured the above out after looking at all the rejects I had accumulated and had to pull the bullets with a kinetic puller. Not fun. When I have some time, I will take a picture of my kinetic puller after the bullets were pulled. What kind of reloader and dies are you using? I can't imagine how I can load absolutely everything and never have an issue, yet you have so many that won't gauge.
  6. I have a 75D PCR, that the wizard known as Lee G. worked on. He installed a CGW extended firing pin with short reset FPB lifter arm, 85C trigger, 13# hammer spring and a reduced power firing pin spring. Everything was polished--he usually polishes the hammer strut AND inside of the spring. Top it off with a stainless steel recoil rod, thin aluminum grips, Meprolight night sights and a Galco IWB holster. Trigger pull is 5.5/3 and it is as accurate as my Shadow. I rarely leave the house without it. If you have never tried the trigger on a PCR out of the box, you will be convinced that you are starting a lawnmower. Expect to do some work. PS. I chose the decocker because I don't have or train with any pistols that have a safety. But I'm not ruling out the next Compact having a safety.
  7. what bullets do you use? Mostly Xtreme 147 with Universal. Sometimes Precision Delta 147.
  8. I've never looked at headstamps and never had a problem.
  9. I shoot 147 xtreme and Universal 3.4, OAL 1.150 out of everything. CZ, Glock, PCC. Today I was hitting a gong at 200 yards with my PCC with a 5 inch barrel and suppressor. I had to aim about 3 feet high, but I was hitting at least every other one. Parabellum? Hell, no. Parabolic.
  10. Starting tomorrow, there will be a lot of people going prone at the Mississippi Classic. I'll let you know how it goes.
  11. Yes, that's what you want....The amount of gap is personal, I like wide cut rears I heard dat.
  12. Lee dies. I don't even case gauge any more.
  13. The accuracy was better with jacketed Precision Delta and the Xtremes might have been a bit better using N340 over Universal, but not much. I was told slower might be better, but I am going to load up some Titegroup using each to see what happens with faster powder. After removing and replacing the barrel, I had no increase in accuracy using any of the loads. I shot some factory 147 flat nose American Eagle and it was probably as tight as the 115 factory that I had used previously. I just need to try to match the speed and load of the factory powder a little better, but I am getting there. Thanks for all the suggestions and keep throwing them out there if you come up with some more.
  14. I see the squadding went out. Does anyone have any information about certain people being allowed to squad early, because I barely had any choices left.
  15. I don't know about plating being ripped off and I had someone else shoot it. I use the same bag to hit a gong with my 5.56 at 300 yards with the same 1x T2. But it would take some human error out of it to use a sled. I have removed the barrel and retightened it. If that didn't help I will try a different upper. I suppose I might try lapping it, but I think I am scraping the bottom with options now. I might make it to the range tomorrow.
  16. So I loaded up a boxful of different combinations of Xtreme 147's and Precision Delta 147's using both Universal Clays and N340. Some seemed to perform better than others, but at 25 yards i never really got better than 3-4 inches. I then added a heavy buffer and the loads that were accurate spread out and the original loads that were so bad got tighter. Totally random. Next on the agenda is to use my T2. I didn't do this yesterday because I had taken it out of my bag! After that I am going to remove the barrel and put it back on. If this doesn't work I am going to use a different upper. I'm not sold on the idea of lapping an upper to improve accuracy at that distance, but I might do that. The last step, of course, will be to buy a different barrel. If you have any other ideas before I either lose my mind or buy another barrel, I'd love to hear it.
  17. What a load of crap. We have sausage. We didn't have sausage last year Mr Hatchet. There was sausage. We just gave it to our friends and the ones that showed up early.
  18. I was thinking fatter, but also jacketed.
  19. They AE were 115gr. One of the suggestions was to use a heavier buffer. This makes sense to me, since it is blowback operated, and keeping the bolt closed longer would logically send more gas out of the barrel, especially with a lower muzzle velocity handload, but I can't find any info anywhere on it's impact on accuracy. I am going to purchase a heavier buffer to maximize sound suppression anyway. Those are mechanical solutions. I am also looking for ballistic solutions and am going to try everything, one at a time. This is the 115. Tinypic rotated it 90 degrees to the left? Anyway, this is about 2 inches at 25 yards and i was just going for groupings so it wasn't a perfect zero and I was shooting from a bench balanced from my bag with a zero power red dot.
  20. I have been reloading for competition for about two years. I have stuck with a cookbook recipe that I was given by several high level shooters and have only varied some out of boredom. I load 147 Xtreme 0.355 plated with Universal Clays 3.4gr and Federal SPP to OAL of 1.155. Muzzle velocity out of the CZ is about 880-900. It works great out of my CZ and Glock 17 and 34. Here is my issue. I built a 9mm AR pistol and it has a 5 inch barrel made from a Green Mountain blank. It will eventually be an SBR when I get the stamp. There is no muzzle device at this time. I plan to use it with a suppressor and have been testing without a suppressor. At 25 yards I have a 12-14 inch spread at 25 yards with the loads described above. They are not tumbling. I tried some American Eagle 115 gr and got 2-3 inch groups at 25 yards. This configuration will be for fun, but I plan on building a 16 inch upper to shoot in our local matches and will deal with that later. Other components on hand are 124 Xtreme plated, Titegroup and N320, but I am open to try anything. What do you think would be my best bet for improving the accuracy loadwise but still staying subsonic? Jacketed? Larger diameter? More or different powder? 124s? I have talked to the barrel manufacturer and he has given me some suggestions about loads, but also about my ARs configuration. I appreciate any suggestions that you might have. Thanks.
  21. Thanks for the adjustment guidlines. And I will put the calipers on them later. Luckily for me, I have never had a problem with my reloading. I followed a plan that I was told worked and it has worked well so far, so I have never had to troubleshoot anything with my press or loads. Oh and the primers are stored in an extra bedroom.
  22. OK. I load in increments of 400. I loaded 1200 over about a week and put them in 3 separate boxes. Absolutely nothing changed in my technique or components. The box on top is the one that I grabbed to shoot. This is the one that would not ignite anywhere close to reliably. I took the next box down to the range today. I fired about 100 out of both Shadows and they all fired. I had about 200 left from the "bad" batch and 6 that I picked up from the ground that wouldn't fire from yesterday. 3 of the first 10 out of the box didn't fire. Similar results with second Shadow. I only fired about 10 from a Glock with a light trigger and they all fired--forgot to bring a magazine. I then put the 2 of the 6 I picked up off the ground in the Glock and neither fired. I put one of those in a Shadow and hit it 4 times and almost drilled a hole in the primer--never fired. I came home and deprimed that one and another that wouldn't fire and as best I can tell, they don't look abnormal. Also, I took about 30 out of the "bad" box and put them through the 550 with Herculean strength. Several of those would not fire out of the Shadow. Even though the Shadows have very light triggers, I have never had this problem AND It was only one box of the run. Is it possible that I had a box of defective primers?
