ChristianHE
For those who have had their 930's for a while. How many rounds do you have through them? Any weak areas on the gun? Any recommended spare parts? I got mine 5/2009 and have roughly 800-900 shells through it of all type. No issues so far. No breakage so far, and it eats everything- I can mix slugs and different brands in the tube and no issues. I only do a couple 3-guns a year. Also good news about the 930: I was just able to order a "no ports", VR, F/O, changeable choke barrel from Mossberg today- no more being in open beating guys in 3 of 5 stages only to place down by a few seconds 'cuz I'm really shooting tac optics (with a single stack too . It's awesome having Benny Hill and Jerry Miculek behind this gun, I'm excited to see the stuff they'll come out with! Do you have a tube extension on yours and did you use a clamp as well Yep- both from Nordic, they work flawlessly. The clamp also has a little picatiny rail where I put a Knight's quick release sling loop for the V-tac sling.
mech
I joined just to tell ya'll that I ordered the 24" non-ported from Edna yesterday (she was very helpful!), I'll post a pic as soon as I get it! Also does anyone think I could sell all the SPX parts (barrel, extension, rail and sight) to recoup the $180.00? Just put it together and shot it today, can't wait till the next month! It's the 24" non ported direct from Mossberg. I also put a Chote +4, Nordic Clamp & and an extended improved choke. I'll be using it strictly for USPSA limited so I built it for 8+1. We shot 100+ bird shot and 20 slugs through it this afternoon and it functioned flawlessly. But, I have all these parts left over? Prob worth a couple bucks in scrap? gotigers
I had my 18.5" barrel threaded by Guncat, but i decided to go with the 24" non ported after a couple of matches. Recieved it yesterday. I haven't shot it with this barrel yet. Hopefully i will get it out this weekend. Guncat did a great job threading the 18.5. 24" non ported, with FO sights Nordic charging handle Nordic +4 extension Choate barrel clamp (i will be replacing this with a Nordic soon) Mossberg extended modified choke Edited May 6, 2011 by gotigers

m24shooter
For those who have had their 930's for a while. How many rounds do you have through them? Any weak areas on the gun? Any recommended spare parts? I've been shooting mine for four years. While I haven't had any issues personally, there are some things to watch for depending on which model you get. The SPX version has several things that you need to look out for. The only issues I've heard of with parts breakage are the forearm retainer and the pusher assembly. I've heard of people getting NIB 930s with a broken forearm retainer. I've also heard from some people that eventually get cracked pusher assemblies. The trigger group can have a lot of play in it laterally. In most cases this is more of a nuisance than anything else, although in some cases it has caused problems. I've seen two ways to fix that: the first is with a shell carrier and the second is using aluminum tape-type material on the inside of the receiver to shim the trigger group. The forearms on some guns will also have a little play in them if you don't crank down on the extension tube nut or mag cap. Otherwise the shotguns are pretty sound in the basic format. Most of the problems have been with the SPX.
EvilBetty
Wow I'm glad I found this thread before buying my shotgun. It was a very up and down read though. I was just about to pull the trigger on a 930 Turkey online when I found out the 24" barrel is ported. Then got excited to find out Mossberg was doing even swaps, then bummed when I read they were no longer doing that. But that they were still selling the 24" barrels. Then finally that they would be releasing a new 930 configured for us! Now the question is... how long do we have to wait? Benny, anxiously awaiting your review of the gun your in process of reviewing for Mossberg!
EvilBetty
Are most of you setting up for 8+1 or 9+1? Edited May 10, 2011 by EvilBetty
swandme
I went with the nordic +5 = 9 +1 that finishes about 1.5 in short of the 24 non ported bbl. Even the + 6 would be ok on a Tach ops / Iron gun with the 24. Most of the open guys around here have 26 or 28 or even 30 in bbls and the full plus 8 tube. I am pondering adding an Xrail to a second copy. Any one got one on and well tested ?

ben b.
Edna, I spoke with you last week about ordering a field model and barrel. I just got off the phone with Mossberg. I think it was Linda who told me that the 24" unported barrels are gone. Is she right?

Will we be able to order the drilled bolt release button to install on our 930s that came without it? If that sounds unlikely to you Edna, would you mind suggesting that it be made available? I know I will try to order one the second they release a gun with it.
