  1. The established minimum OD for a 12 ga Rem-Choke installation is .845”. This is assuming the bore is the nominal .725” to .729” (and does not exceed .736”) and the bore is reasonably concentric with the outside walls. (BTW - The measurements are the same for Mossberg Accu-choke tubes). Every 930 I've had my hands on would safely take Rem-Choke or Accu-Choke tubes.
  2. It could be full sized be clay pigeons or the smaller 60mm Midi pigeons... So... where is everyone staying? All in Lewisport? or is anyone staying in Owensboro on Friday night?
  3. Unless your barrel is different than the dozens of ported 930 barrels I've seen it should be thick enough to cut off and re-thread for its Mossberg choke tubes. Measure the outside diameter at the spot you want it cut off, if its over .845” you should be good to go.
  4. The difference is everybody rides a bike from the time they are 5 and cycling is on TV frequently. Unfortunately that's not the case in the shooting sports. I was just watching 5 minutes of bowling on ESPN the other day thinking what a waste of F'ing time. Every person I know owns a gun or ten. I couldn't think of one person that owns a fricken' bowling ball. Can anyone actually name a company that makes bowling balls? I am drawing a blank, or should I say a "Mike." Ebonite ...and I only know that because they are headquartered about 10 miles from me.
  5. Redding GRX + a teenager on spring break needing gas money = Over 2000 rounds of once fired .40 S&W (bought for cheap) through the GRX
  6. If you are "in business" at minimum you will need a 01 FFL, maybe a 07 depending on what you do (and whether you only work on customer gun vs. buy guns with plans to modify/customizing for resale). Local/state permits may also be required per your location.

    Got a new toy coming

That mag well looks a lot like the Dawson I put on my gun (Picture)...so yeah, the Dawson base pads should work just fine.
  8. I've had one mounted on an AR for years. Its held its zero and turned on every time I've used it...really couldn't ask for anything more from it.
  9. Gary, Sounds like another good match. I'll see you there! (For the record I voted for a 2 day format...too many good places to eat in O-town to just spend one night...but I'll go with the flow!)
  10. The rib and posts on a Remington barrel will snap off fairly easily by tapping in a wedge (think screwdriver) under the rib near a support post. Cut through the rib first so you only break loose the post(s) you want to remove. You will have some solder remaining on the barrel that will need to be filed off (and you'll probably want to do something about the resulting damage to the finish). Lots of shotgun barrels are ported without removing the rib. Angleport does a good job of this work.
  11. I've shot a few team matches like that with everyone using flintlock, black powder rifles. They are a lot of fun....(and with black powder guns its hard to see past the firing line before the match is finished)
  12. If you go to a 1 day format will we still need to sign in the day prior? - or will you squeeze the registration and shooting all into 1 day?
  13. Try installing the mag well on the gun WITHOUT the MSH in place. Will the pin install through the mag well and gun? Mine did not. I enlarged the pin hole in the mag well one (numbered) drill bit at time until the pin would fit through the mag well hole and hole in the gun's frame (IIRC I went up 2 or 3 sizes). After doing this I could assemble all the parts with the MSH included. If you go this route do all the work on the mag well with it OFF the gun. You want to make room for the pin to fit through without changing the size of the hole on the gun's frame.
  14. Some time ago I “hired” my little guy to size a large batch (500+) of pistol brass. After watching for a while I kinda let him go on his own and pretty soon I was hearing a bing-bang-ping sound coming from the loading area. He'd figured out that if he'd bounce each sized case of the wall just right it would ricochet off a shelf and land in a bucket he'd placed in just the right spot....most of the time his plan worked OK...maybe 2 out 3 landed in the bucket...the other 100+ cases we picked up off the floor.
  15. The check (and app) is in the mail. Any news on that "new" match hotel deal?
  16. The Hogue FF tube uses its own specific barrel nut (as do most FF tubes). At minimum you'll need vise blocks to hold the upper receiver and a wrench to remove/install the barrel nut. If you have many AR shooters around your area chances are that someone already has these tools. To install the Hogue free float: Remove the flash hider, front sight and gas tube from your upper receiver Hold the upper reviver in the appropriate vise blocks and use a barrel nut wrench to remove the factory barrel nut. Screw on the Hogue barrel nut. Torque the nut to 30-80 ft/lbs (watching to make sure the gas tube slots line up with the hole in the upper receiver). Screw on the Hogue tube. Clean off the thread and use a couple of drops of blue Loctite to help hold it tight. Reinstall the front sight and gas tube, and the flash hider.
  17. We are going to try to get a better rate at a brand new motel but, it is a little further away from the range, but not alot and the good side of this is there alot of places to eat within walking distance to motel, Cheaders, Roca Bar, Culvers, Mexican, and Wal Mart is a stones throw. We just have not nailed it down yet. Up dates will be posted here as soon as they are taken care of. Keep us posted. Culvers has first rate hamburgers, we eat there every time we are near Owensboro.
  18. I can do this. I'll get my app in next week. Anyone already know if the Best Western in Lewisport has vacancy? If not, where is everyone staying on Owensboro? As of March 5 there is room in the Inn
  19. The MGW tools work well. but since they model specific they can get expensive if you want to adjustable multiple (models of) handguns.
  20. Welcome! Do you happen to have an AR with a Knights Triple Tap brake? (Ask me how I know)
  21. Nice, if you don't mind me asking, who did the sights? Thanks Thank you. I did all the work on the gun, this was one of my winter projects. Brazos Custom Lightning Rod front and Caspian/LPA rear
  22. Welcome fellow Kentuckian What part of this great state are you in?
  23. Leupold can add target knobs to some of their scopes for you, might be worth a call to them. LINK TO MORE INFORMATION
