  1. With the trigger group out of the receiver will the factory carrier and Easyloader pivot freely? From the video it looks like the Easyloader might be binding on the carrier. I know you've seen the pictures on the other AR15 website, they show where you have to file for fitting. Also...take a look at the filing and fitting of the triangle shaped piece on the Easyloader, fitting that section will affect the bolt lock back - some of them require a good bit of metal removal.
  2. You'll need to drill the hole in the buffer. Push the buffer into its place in the bolt (hold it in place if loose) then drill through the holes (in the bolt) and through the buffer.
  3. Doubling is often a result of a malfunctioning disconnector in the FCG. With your lower only (remove the upper assembly) perform this Disconnector Function Check: (Be prepared to stop the hammer's fall with a block of wood , your thumb, or some means of keeping the hammer from slamming into the lower receiver). Keep the trigger pulled back and cock the hammer. As you release the trigger the hammer should NOT fall. As the trigger moves forward the Disconnector should release and the hammer get caught on the trigger. This all happens as the trigger is “almost” fully forward. If the hammer WILL completely fall as you release the trigger (1) Check the disconnetor spring to make sure it is not kinked, bound or otherwise blocked. (2) Ensure the disconnector can freely move in its slot in the trigger (3) A worn or damaged tip on the disconnector can let the hammer release too soon and cause the hammer to fall; repair or replace the disconnector.
  4. Here are some options: Tru Glo Williams A call to the Brownells Tech line might help you find another front sight (in various colors) that will fit the same dovetailed ramp.
  5. Then he's not the only one! We spent about a week on the metric system in Miss Jones math class back in 1977.... before we all gave up.
  6. Didn't covert the Distance to Target into inches did you? (900 inches = 25 yards)
  7. Welcome! What part of the Commonwealth is home? I'm in western KY near Hopkinsville & Ft. Campbell.
  8. Same here. As mentioned the cuts (and sights themselves) look better when parallel and squared with the top of the slide.
  9. Chamber reamer or hole reamer? Chamber reamers Hole reamers
  10. This one I use basically the same set up and it works well. (I made it myself but got all the ideas from that picture)
  11. I've been running my old HK SBE for an occasional multi gun match (I just added the Nordic extension). Field loads (3 DE, 1 1/8 oz) and Remington Low Recoil slugs (1 oz, 1200 fps) work just fine. Of course the gun was already well broken in from its share of 3” and 3.5” shells
  12. EGW makes a Picatinny base: LINK TO BASE The Weaver #93 will work also (but its not Picatinny)
  13. Is your M1 receiver's factory drilled and tapped?
  14. I always keep an old copy on the bench. Anytime I need to mix epoxy, JB, Accraglas, etc. I rip out a page and have a slick clean surface to work on. I like flipping through the current catalog when I'm thinking, planning, day dreaming, then check the stock status online when its time to order.
  15. So, in other words you kinda sorta just needed a "bigger hammer"
  16. Seminole Gun Works can install Invector Plus tubes (I've had them do so) Seminole's Web Site Call them before you cut off the barrel, the wall thickness in the mid section of the barrel may or may not be adequate for rethreading due to the barrel's contour. (IIRC the barrel OD needs to be over .865", but Seminole will need to verify that exact measurement required)
  17. Thanks for the info. Your review is in line with the salesman's demo at the SHOT Show which help build my confidence. I might just have to get one of these PDQ machines for the shop.
  18. I ran across the this PDQ MINI-MAXcleaning system at the SHOT Show and its got my attention. Basically a steam cleaner that uses much more air than water (something like 95% air. 5% water). The guys in the booth would clean rings, knives, jewelry, etc with no water dripping from the item. My bulk cleaning system now consists of a 20 gallon parts washer, brushes, and compresses air to dry. If I can shave 10-15 minutes per gun off cleaning time (and reduce the mess) this MINI MAX device might be worth the investment. However...I'm cautious and belong to the “if it sounds to good to be true...” crowd. Anyone have more knowledge and hands on experience with this cleaner? How does it work on caked on .22LR fouling? Does the hot air / steam affect Duracoat, plastic, or other finishes? Will the machine hold up for years?

I belong to the “never put the gun away without lubing the choke tube” club. Take'em out, wipe'em off, put a couple crops of Break Free CLP on the threads then put'em back in. May be a bit of overkill but its cheap insurance. I've never had tube stuck in any gun. Also, my understanding of chrome lining in a shotgun barrel was that is came about as a way to reduce bore polishing time/cost (ie. Chrome lining was slicker, smoother, and cheaper to achieve than a mirror polish). The corrosion resistance was originally just a side benefit.
  20. Midwest Gun Works has 28" barrels, might be worth a call to check on other lengths. Midwest Gun Works
  21. I've been known to shoot a 6” 686 (using a box full of Comp 3 speed loaders) as my “second gun” Fed it handloads consisting of 158 grain TC lead bullets and enough Unique to make major.
  22. The more I think about it I keep remembering this... Barrels shorter than 26" are not equipped with pressure-compensating gas system; they work with 2-3/4" mag or 3" magnum shotshells only. (various retailer's websites) And this Straight from Remington If the gun is a Premier or Special Purpose with a barrel length shorter than 26" it will not be pressure compensated and will only function properly with magnum ammunition. A field barrel or target barrel can be interchanged on 1187 3" guns to allow the use of lighter loads.
  23. What he said...(plus a good cleaning and lubing can't hurt if needed) Also.... The gas port chart is near the bottom of this page
