  1. has anyone tried a 10 recoil spring with a maybe 20# main setup in a 2011 shooting 40 major? 180 gr bullet in a 5 inch gun? someone at the Nationals was shooting something similar to this. instead of a 10/15 setup like some use or the usual 12/17 setup thanks
  2. I have one! its mounted to a Weaver 1x3 scope. I think they great and I like the way they look. The Burris, I didnt like only because of the slots on top of the mount. thanks
  3. would it be worth going out to 7" sight radius? was thinking a 5" tri-slide, extended bull barrel threaded with the blank comp to 7".
  4. post #3 6" barrel on a 5" slide.
  5. question? is there enough material on the 6" tri barrel to "lockup" at the muzzle area on a 5" slide? thanks
  6. please, give us a "headsup" as to the next run of them. thanks
  7. I just got off the phone with Taran and he told me, with the new SV tubes the indentation that runs along the side of the tubes continues all the way down to the bottom of the tube, on the new SV tubes. The older ones, the indentations stop short of the bottom by one inch or so. The older tubes need to have the indentation formed to continue down the length of the tube in order for 21rds. to work. So, using the newer tubes is the way to go. The newer tubes do need the mag catch slot, to be file in a upward direction in order to work the older frames, about .20". hope this helps
  8. I had one also from JoMag. He ended up getting in a arguement in some bar in the PI and was killed! What a shame....
  9. I started in 83 and that was my first steel challenge. it was a good time to start shooting!!!!! I would shoot there at that range, Wes Thompson range. I was 25 at the time. now I shoot at Norco with JV and the gang. brings a smile to my face to see that video.
  10. as far as am concern Rich, is a top notch guy, and has a great turn around time. I really dont know how hes does with a website, posting here on forum and working on R&D and other stuff not related to only 1911's!!!!!! dont worry, you'll get your gun soon enough!!!!!!
  11. +1 to JaeOne3345's suggestion to make this a Sticky thanks to JaeOne3345 for taking the time to explain this process. am sure many Calif. shooters would like to know about this process and use it!
  12. I used to own a Star reloader and sold to get my RL1050. I can't see getting anything else or than a new 1050 or another one
  13. Generally speaking, I think we have the basics of the fundamentals but at different levels. Meaning GM's have it down better than a D class shooter. Even with a very little understanding of the fundamentals, a shooter can hit his target. But what happens is that we tend to "look" at watch at what were shooting at, while we are shooting at it! Bring your vision back to the front sight, and you hit your target. Its so easy to get lost in looking at the targets and not your sights! Something all shooters strugle with... IMO
  14. I agree with DonovanM. I dont use one or believe in them. Try one years ago in my Limited SV 40 didnt like it and even worsted it grouped my shots at 25 yrds, all over the paper. removed it, shot another group and printed the way it should have, threw the sprinco junk away! find the right recoil spring for your gun/load and practice proper grip techiques, to have the front sight return exactly where it lifted from, shot after shot after shot. just my 2 cents worth.
  15. spoke to his dad at a Norco match and he is on the team.
  16. just like shooting groups at 25 yds (freesyle) to sight in your gun or getting back to basics, so you should shoot groups at 25 yds, weak and strong hand.
  17. same with me...but I did change. using BE tip of masking taope over the left eye, while shooting, made the right eye muscles take over the job of focusing. Try transparent tape over your left eye. Use it during dry fire, practice and go to a few matches. Before you know it, you will be using your right eye to focus. It only takes a few weeks.
  18. MV does. i remember someone telling an account of MV doing a Tjob on someones gun during a Norco match at the waiting bench. no jig, just one stone and some hand filing. now I dont know how it came out but thats what I recall.
  19. Are what you are calling rolling is the same thing as I call creep? right on! am happy with the way I get my triggers, if the smith knows what hes doing! I couldn't ask for more. the goal of doing it the way TGO and BE, was that you could keep the hammer hooks tall @.20 or above and maintain a less than 2lb trigger and never have it miss the hooks, if the enagement went bad. I think...
  20. Warner concept of the sear, interesting. Isn't this what TGO and Brian where doing "by hand" to their pistol, early on? I think it was... I like to hear what other gunsmith's might think?
  21. that photo should have included coffee! I make a shake.. two eggs, one banana, strawbarries or whatever fruit is in the fig, one cup oatmeal, one scoop peanut butter and milk. hold me over til I get to the range and I take a sandwick, fruit or trailmix, water. then on the way home get some coffee and something eat.
  22. sorry, I thought this was a 9mm gun. buying a new slide would be the way to go. better yet just get a para 40!
  23. could not the breech face be monkeyed with to accept a 40 barrel? Though, it would have to have the frame machined for the ramp.
  24. I meant, standing "freestyle"...and 'yes", your right many shooters can but was just referring that many can not even shoot a group "freestyle" @ 25 yds.
