  1. Has anyone seen this pistol? Looks like a pretty cool looking gun for SS division. Even comes with a mag chute. thanks
  2. The idea of "already on the list are grandfathered in from new requirements", I think doesn't work because Sig never had a 40cal on the list. Only 45"s, example...SV under the DOJ list SV has a single stack and a wide body listed as a 45acp, so Californian's wanting a 40 buy the 45 from SV, sent it back for a rebarreling to 40 cal. So, why doesn't SV submitt a 40 cal to the DOJ for a "grandfathering" onto the list? Now, BarSto submitted a 40 cal before they ever sold one to the public, knowing of the new requirements coming, from DOJ. They submitted a 40 before the deadline and they were set. Who knows...I just hope someone is able to get one on the list at a reasonable cost.
  3. thats not the answer I looking for but I won't do it again.
  4. I posted this in the Para section but thought I might get more readers here. Is there a difference between the metal used in the "blue" vers the "stainless look or hard chrome" slides that come on Paras? thanks
  5. Is there a difference in metal used between the "blued" ves the "stainless look or hard chormed" slides? thanks
  6. Is Sig coming out with a SS gun in 40sw? Word has it, that it may be listed on the California DOJ list. Anyone know something about this? http://sigsauer.com/CatalogProductDetails/1911-max.aspx thanks
  7. TT went from a bull barrel to a bushing setup on the Para.
  8. went the Para site and saw the extractor, pretty clever what EGW did, just made a larger dia. extractor to fit the tunnel and copy thier existing HD extractor EGW sells already for the standard 1911 slides. Got rid of the sleeve non-sense/regular extractor solution and the factor Para PXT extractor all together!
  9. interesting and great news! I'll have to check the Para Pro shop.
  10. with all the posts on SS 40sw guns, am wondering if anyone shoots a SS 45acp anymore? Am just about to buy some 45 magazines and thinking of just waiting and see if I should build a 40sw SS gun. )
  11. I have an eye on a HK M1 at a sporting good store. 1000.00 dollars. In good shape or is a M2 a better buy? thanks
  12. lawboy, is correct! Alot of good posts but to truly achieve accuracy, is really by learning to shoot groups. All shooting begins with the ability to do the "fundentmentals of Markmanship" on DEMAND. Whether your a SWAT guy, a weekend "plicker" or a "hillbillie" shooting at beer bottles on a hillside, it all starts with the "fundentmentals of Markmanship", period. And shooting for groups is an excellent way to learn! But what are the fundentmentals of Markmanship". Search and you will be enlighten. Brians, book is an excellent reference but I think you should search and experiment out on the range. Then read his book, and you will have at least an idea of what he's talking about. Read it over and over and over. "fundentmentals of Markmanship", "fundentmentals of Markmanship", "fundentmentals of Markmanship" is what its all about! You eventually want to be able to shoot a "five shot group" @ 25 yds using a 1"x1" square. Getting the bullet holes as close as posssible as you can. Its something that you never really conqueror, you achieve it but never really conqueror it. As long your shooting, this is something you will always be doing, "shooting groups". One more thing to think about...there is no "slow down or go fast"...only you can detemine "what is an acceptable sight picture" to break that one shot. The better you get at shooting groups, then you will begin to appericate a good set of front and rear sights on your shooting iron. good luck!!!

    P-16 6" Top End

is this topend worth getting, since I don't think the barrel is a oversized one! Or would it really matter? thanks
  14. thanks, Trail3. I visit Calguns from time to time. Where exactly would I look? thanks
  15. WHY is the XDm NOT California legal? Why didnt SA submit it to DOJ? Thats a really nice pistol!!!!!! thanks just venting my frustrations with this state...
  16. Hello, I am looking to replace an aluminum FF handguard on my 20" (w/low profile gas block)barrel AR. I want a 15" HG to cover the block. My choices at this point are: JP Lancer or LOKI. I did look at Clark but I did read only one neg. post about the glue coming off, so I decided on a barrel nut system. The price difference between the Lancer and the others is about 50.00 dollars. I believe LOKI does not include the JP nut, where as MIDWAY does have the JP HG, complete with nut for about 200.00 dollars or is it NORDIC has it for 109.00 dollars. Yes, I agree the Lancer HG's are neat cooling. What would you buy? thanks
  17. I noticed on Gun Broker, an upper for sale with a 18" mid-length barrel from Black Hole Weaponary, using Polygon Rifling. Has anyone heard of this type of rifling for AR's or have a comment about the company? Glocks use Polygon rifling but how good is it for rifle barrels? thanks
  18. what gun do you have? Other than SVI or a Kimber model, you would have to buy a new slide for the change. SVI, luckily has the interchangeable breechface and the Kimber 9's or the 10mm models, share the same breechface dimemsions. So I have been told. But you can check the forum here and see that other have done the swap with the Kimber guns.
  19. I once shot a Taurus Raging Bull that belongs to a friend of mine. Chambered in 454 C. Was quite impressed with the lack of recoil! It was scope with a 2x if I remember correctly and I shot a 5 shot group offhand at 50 yds. Had a 4" group with one flyer. I have been playing with the idea of getting a 44 mag. Raging Bull, since I have the dies and brass, bullets but no 44! And besides I live in Calif. and the 454 is not on the DOJ list of handguns. Turners Outdoorsman had a 454 raging bull, used for sale but someone beat me to it. Good gun. I would just get the 6.5 barrel and not the longer barrel, just my preference. one last thought...a freedom arms in 454, now that is a great gun! Yes, I know $$$$$$$ but WOW. I seen some used but still alot of money. one other thought that comes to mind...the RB can be easily scoped and the FA too. But I really like the iron sights on the RB, more like target sights, not so on the FA guns, espesially the front sights, take a look and you'll see what I mean.
  20. IMO...I've tried to learn how to do trigger work for myself. I bought that same setup you have and went the same problems and I even bought another different jig from Marvel. Read some books, did search here on the forum and other 1911 forums to try and learn what I could about doing trigger work. I gave up!!!!!! Not to discourage you but for me, I would rather buy the parts and pay someone else, who has better knowledge and experience in doing trigger work! It just wasn't worth it for me. What I did get out of all the "trial and error" was knowing how the trigger operates. Thats a plus when dealing with a smith, whether he's explaining or I am explaining to him in what I want. Good Luck.
  21. STI is NOT on the DOJ list. I just checked...
  22. when I started shooting IPSC in 1984, somewhere along the line I would read everthing about guns before going to bed. One article that Ross Seyfried, wrote I remember to this day the comment he used about learning the fundentmentals of markmanship, so you can shoot with "surigal precision". "Sugrical precision" over and over I would tell myself, I still remember that phase to this day. The cover photo of the article had him standing shooting his 45 with his arms not exactly extending out like we do today, his head tilted down and his eyes bearing down the pistol, with a cowboy buckle on his belt and a string of brass flying out! Very impressive for a young man, who just wanted to shoot like that! That was the start for me.
  23. am not an expert but IMO, I dont think JHoag did this gun. I have dealt with him when I was younger and what I think he would not have done was to mill the front thinner, also stamp the name on the slide and the safeties on the this gun where not from that time period. The Swenson safeties is what was used. IMO. thanks
  24. DThomas, is right! Follow exactly what he posted and you cant go wrong. When you exactly have to do this, just believe in what you read and do it. You need to see your sights not the moving target.
