  1. I'm glad to see NF is now installing the H58 in their F1 scopes. Granted it costs several hundred more than the normal reticles that NF offers due to the licensing of the Horus reticle designs.
  2. 922r applies to assembling a semi automatic rifle or shotgun from imported parts which is identical from any rifle or shotgun that is prohibited from importation. Benelli's need not even worry here to even go any further and prove sporting purpose.
  3. Why is it that 922r always gets so blown out of proportion? In the scheme of things....it doesn't even affect us.
  4. The Browning Silver is essentially the same as the SX2/SX3 and FNH SLP. The Gold is almost the same except it has the autoload and magazine cutoff feature. All are great gas guns.
  5. It mates up almost perfectly to a .730 diameter.
  6. I'd go with the SX2/SX3/SLP/Browning Silver route. All are the same gun. Get the 24" vent rib if possible. Do what Smokshown recommended and rock and roll. You will easily come in under your budget and have a great gas operated shotgun. ETA: I'd also heavily consider the 930. I've looked at this gun for the past year and taken it apart. Operating system is very similar to the Winchester SX2. Quite simplistic. Possibly pick one up with a 24" VR and add the tube yourself and do what else you can to make it game worthy. The 930 has Benny's support and what looks like Mossberg stepping up as well. Probably a very viable choice.
  7. Find an ammo that reliably cycles the gun and gives acceptable accuracy. XM193 usually does both and has good velocity. Just remember it is designed to be shot out of a 5.56mm chamber. Shooting non SAAMI NATO spec ammo out of a .223 chamber could result in blown primers or possibly a separated case. Black Hills blue box 55 gr. usually produces great accuracy at about 2800fps from a 16" barrel
  8. Those velocities are about the norm for a 16" barrel for factory ammo. An adjustable gas block will not have any negligible effect on velocity. Federal XM193 NATO spec ammo will run about 2900-3000 PMC Bronze shoots about 2650 out of my 16" gun and 55 gr. Rem/UMC runs about 2750 My 55 gr. hand loads run 2900 and my 69SMK load runs 2750.
  9. The rainbow like trajectory of the Blackout would completely wash out any advantage over 223 that scoring major would give it. Its a great round for a tactical carbine, just not for the 3 gun game as we know it.
  10. Congrats David and Stacy. I'm happy that you guys tied the knot. You both did awesome. Two awesome folks like y'all deserve each other.
  11. The extension tube that Robbie had on his Versa Max was a Choate and was the same extension used on the 1100/1187. His barrel was also a 26" barrel that was cut to 19.5" and was threaded for thinwall TruChokes. That shotgun has alot of promise. Lookout Salient.....the VersaMax is coming
  12. Or Firebirds or LaRues or Sabre Defences
  13. Following suit with everything that IOR has produced....it will probably weigh 4 pounds too.
  14. Scope height over bore tends to be subjective shooter to shooter. I tend to prefer the high 1.93" LaRue mount or comparable height of scope over bore. I mount the rifle and like to bring the rifle to me eye rather than my eye to the rifle. It works for me. I also mount the rifle very inboard of my body and shoot a very squared up stance. Most shooters will do plenty well with a standard 1.5" mount. some shooters even like it lower. It really all boils down to preference of the shooter. Find the height that works best for you. Don't get concerned with offset. Its minimal and not enough to make a difference for what we do with our rifles. Know YOUR DOPE and you will be good. Here is a tidbit of info I bet most don't know. The term DOPE is an acronym for Data Of Prior Engagement. Just FYI for those that did not know. Also....the high 1.93" mounts were developed as a means to raise the S&B Short Dots high enough to clear the AN/PEQ IR Lasers that were mounted in front of the optics on our military's rifles.
  15. Do you have a link for the Drop shank? I have the 6377 and love it. Thanks. Alden The drop plate is called the 6070UBL and then there is one that drops 1.5" lower and is the 6075UBL. The 6070 drops as much as the DOH. The 6075 drops it too far down for my taste. One problem is that the UBL is designed for a 2.25" belt and leaves room for alot of movement on a 1.75" belt. The 6377 comes with just the belt slide attachment designed for belts up to 1.75" depending on which spacers you leave attached. The 6378 comes with the paddle attached but also comes with the belt slide that is attached to the 6377. The 6379 comes with the Safariland locking belt clip. The 6378 tends to run about $4-$5 more in cost.
  16. I believe so. I saw one the other day and it had the same mag tube nut that my SX3 has.
  17. The mounting holes do not even come close between Safariland and TekLok.
  18. Mark.....suggestion.....maybe tone back the amount of stages? The last match ran a little long because of the length and amount of stages. Maybe 3 rifle, 2 shotgun and 2 pistol. Or 3 Shotgun, 2 rifle, and 2 pistol. Try and keep it at 6-7 stages max.
  19. I've got one of these games. It needs to be sold. I've played my share of it. Its fun as all get out for about a year.
  20. I think 4 is plenty for most matches but on occasion it is nice to have 6x. Once you get past about 6....having a calibrated reticle in the rear focal plane only allows you to use it on a fixed power. So it would have to be in the front focal plane so that its calibrated at the full range of magnification.
  21. I'd really like to try and alleviate so many repetitive posts. I'd suggest trying to employ the search function since this question has been raised on a few occasions.
  22. My thoughts are pretty simple. I don't much care if they are allowed or not. If they are I will use them. If not, the playing field is equal as far as allowed gear goes. I do think the K9's offer an advantage in several situations. But the same thing can be accomplished without them....albeit a bit slower in those situations where the K9's excel. The K9's started life as a hand stop that was flipped around backwards to engage props in a course of fire. Then aggressive teeth were added to enhance their purpose. My problem with not allowing them is that it dampens progressive innovation in the sport. I don't think OPEN should be the only division to exploit such. With all that said, I don't care what ruling is made. It makes no difference to me.
  23. Don't have the footage. We reviewed it on his playback monitor. I did not have any means to retain the footage that day. I wish I did. It was cool video.
  24. Patrick is right.....that is another aid in getting the shells to feed right. The more tension the lifter has to lift the shell straight up, the better it will feed and eliminate lateral motion as well. I used a piece of another lifter spring and added it to increase pressure. I have been looking for a suitable replacement spring for the FN platform. So far the standard spring plus a quarter of another has worked well for me. Its always a balancing act with these things.
