  1. Great Match! Had a good time. Thanks to Sam,Linda the most awesomest stats goddess ever,Heidi,Nathan,Kurt,Trapr, all the RO's and sponsors that made it possible. I as a shooter greatly appreciate the hard work that goes into these matches. Huge Congrats Ben Fortin,Rob Romero,Chris Patty and Cameron Thompson for their wins in their respective divisions and to the up and coming junior shooters. And to that lucky son of a gun Tripp McIngvale for winning the drawing for the M1A Hope to make it back next year.
  2. That is a great deal. Includes the ADM mount. I've shot this reticle. It is awesome. I'm an illumination fan but this reticle is so crisp and contrasting, it really does not need it. That is really the only fault of the scope is that its not Aimpoint bright in the sunlight.
  3. 52.....thats it? You look like 62. Happy Birthday Buddy!
  4. Those Salient Benelli's are pretty sweet. But Benny's guns have been tried and true for a long while now. Personal opinion is you won't go wrong with either. I've shot both. Both shoot great. I personally like the IonBonded lightened and fluted bolt a little more on the Salient gun.
  5. As soon as I get a few free minutes, I will compile a single post that I will edit as matches come and go.
  6. The new Giesselle(pronounced Guy-Zlee) Super 3 Gun trigger is pretty awesome and uber reliable. The NST has been trying them out for a while now. I believe they are almost available for sale. It is a single stage with a slightly different break than most are used to in single stage triggers. Reset is very short and the break just sort of rolls like its on bearings. As you apply pressure you feel a sort of creep that is so smooth it feels like it rolls on ball bearings. Then BANG! No screws to adjust. Break is adjusted with the trigger spring. Mine is 2# on the nose. I love it. Its the best trigger I have ever shot. I literally have shot them all and still own most of those. And it has the fastest lock time of any AR trigger on the market. Its truly gonna be a hot setup. Reset is not as short as the AR Gold or some JP's but its ten times more positive and only has just a slightly longer reset. The hammer spring is the strongest I have ever felt. the hammer will bruise your thumb if you use your thumb to break the drop.
  7. Will you guys post the individual stage scores with times? And by the way. Awesome match! Thanks to all the sponsors that support the sport, thanks to all the RO's for their hard work and dedication. and huge thanks to Kirk, Chad, Damon, Sandra, James and anyone else's name I left out. Fun and awesome match on an awesome piece of property. Hope its there next year again. Huge congrats again to my team mate Rob Romero for getting into another shootoff and doing the team proud and to the other team mate for a solid finish in Heavy Optics. Congrats to a good friend(big cuz) Clint Upchurch for making his first shootoff appearance and probably not his last. Glad we got you to crossover to multigun. I told you you'd be hooked. And hats off to SSgt Horner for taking another check to the bank. Good times!
  8. The glass is phenomenal. Its every bit as good as the expensive European scopes. FOV is monstrous on 1x. Yeah....Illumination is kinda weak in bright daylight. But once you see the reticle. You'll see its not all that important for speed. I'll say its definitely worth looking at in MO.
  9. Yep.....now thats the way to do it right there.
  10. Chris Patty at CPWSA is supposed to be the exclusive dealer of that model. He did have some in stock but I heard they were going fast. Erik and I were at the range today doing some zero confirmation work before the Ozark match. The reticle was dead nuts out to 500 shooting a 69 SMK at 2850. All the 50 yard increments were spot on as well. The scope is illuminated. Not to terribly visible in afternoon light. But the design of the reticle is crisp and fast without illumination. I actually preferred shooting it without illumination. I think the 2nd revision of the reticle turned out excellent. Not cluttered. Very precise and fast. It was easy to hold a 4" group on a 5"x5" head at 400 yards.
  11. The Forum Guidelines are posted at the top of the forum page. I suggest that everyone read them and be familiar with them. This forum is not an avenue to air your dirty laundry. And as such, shill accounts will not be tolerated. <<The local 3 gun Mod Squad>>
  12. Heres a good video of this guy rocking the 2010 MG Nats with his red dotted Saiga. Lots of slug shots. Notice he doesn't slow down much. Had he been using irons, he would have been giving up much more time and points. Top shooters in this sport get separated by tenths of a second. Use every advantage allowed in your division. A dot is always faster in the majority of shooters hands.
  13. That looks good. I would just be opposed to drilling and tapping my receiver. I just redrilled the Benelli speed chute and fabricated some new pins once I found the optimum location for the chute, then drilled and tapped the ends for retainer screws. The pin was mad about .020" longer. That way the screws could not be over tightened and squeeze the receiver. But as can be seen....the Benelli chute works with little modification.
  14. I seem to recall that one of the exploits of the AR Gold trigger was that it used a standard power or extra power spring and could accomplish the same break weights that some other trigger makers could only accomplish with reduced power springs. That would lead me to believe that the AR Gold would work fine in the 308 platforms. Unless its a hammer mass or shape issue.
  15. All things considered. I'd take the 16" SS over the chrome lined for expecting it to be more accurate. But hell....I've seen plenty of chrome lined barrels that shoot half minute with certain ammo. I have had some BCM chrome lined barrels. They shot as good as I expected them too with factory ammo.
  16. That really cannot be quantified. Six of one half dozen of another. Glass is half full or half empty.
  17. I personally run a rifle gas system. My Young Mfg. National Match bolt carrier is lightened but not to the tune of the JP. I run a standard weight rifle buffer and a standard non adjustable gas block. I attribute the way my rifle runs to a good effective compensator. I choose to use the SJC Titan. When I started in the sport, I ran lightened everything and an adjustable gas system. Reliability just wasn't there for me. And my rifle now shoots every bit as soft and flat as the highly tuned and lightened rifle I had then. I have noticed that a heavier buffer works well in carbine gas guns. Especially the MGI RRB. I like to run an ISMI recoil spring and an MGI in my short gas system work guns. They are noticeably easier to shoot than without. Bottom line is that there is no wrong way, but there is a right way for you.
  18. I've personally owned 4 Enidine buffers and broke every one of them. Brownells replaced them without issue, but I finally realized they just don't hold up for me. The MGI is built like a tank.
  19. The 223 Titan is quite AWESOME on a 223 but its just downright UNBELIEVABLE on a 308.
  20. Yes....it works quite well actually. More so on the shorter gas systems. Rob Romero of the Noveske Shooting Team is a big believer in the MGI buffer. He has run one since I have known him. For a while his carbine gas system had as smooth of a recoil impulse as my rifle gas system. We took the MGI out and shot it and it was quite unruly in comparison. He now runs a midlength gas system with the MGI and it shoots just as smooth if not smoother.
  21. Brad is such the wordsmith and does the academy proud. Tom will be missed for who he was and what he has done for our shooting sports. I wish his wife and 5 daughters the best. Its a sad day for the USSA family. You are all in my prayers. RIP Tom. Keep a good eye on things and watch our backs. Thanks for all you did.
  22. My SX3 came with one piston. I just recently bought the Browning sporting clays piston for loads less than 1 1/8oz. I wanted to have a spare and try the lighter piston out. Runs just as good as the one that it came with.
  23. When I weld up a lifter, I cut a piece of 16ga. metal to fit between the prongs and then tig weld it up and grind down and finish it out. Alot of work. More than I wanna do so considering what Jeff charges...I'll just continue to leave it up to him. I'm not sure but I think he adds a piece of metal and brazes it in which would yield much less finish work. Grinding down and smoothing out the weld is tedious. That weld is hard.
  24. Vertical stringing is usually a sign of barrel movement as opposed to a scattered group from a worn out throat. But thats not to say the barrel is not shot out with 15k rounds through it. A good barrel can go 15-20k. But the norm is more like 10k when you see accuracy start to degrade. Sounds like the barrel may have not have been tightened to spec originally and over the years of shooting with expansion and contraction it was moving around in the receiver. I use an anti seize compound and tighten to at least 40 ft. lbs. when I assemble uppers. the only time I have used red loctite is on the Clark carbon fiber handguard with the aluminum barrel nut that has to be tightened with a strap wrench.
