  1. I've been experimenting with the Prima V lately and have found the same thing....if you load it a tad hotter, 133-136ish pf range the groups tighten up without any appreciable increase in felt recoil.
  2. Try 3.8 of Prima V with the 124 Precisions. It shoots very cool, and there isn't nearly as much smoke as with some other powders.
  3. I've been using PV from the 16055 batch, and while this is my first go around with it, it is performing as I expected. I was told it was comparable to TG in terms of charge weights and velocities, and that is what I'm finding. Right now I'm loading 3.5gr of PV under a 135gr from The Blue Bullets loaded to an OAL of 1.125. I'm shooting that out of my P320 FS and getting about a 130pf, which is what I expected, and about what I'd expect with TG as well. I'd say its good to go.
  4. I messed around with one at an LGS the other day. Granted it, it was only a couple dry presses, but it felt much better than the stock triggers on the 1.0s. I would guess the weight was high 5 to low 6 lb range.
  5. I heard the same thing. Oh well. My match 320s are running so well I wasn't likely to make the change this year anyways....even if I did manage to get my hands on an X5. That said, I'll still be getting one once they are released to the world.
  6. I know I'm a Sig guy and all, but this is very exciting! Can't wait to get my hands on one.
  7. I have XL type hands as well.....both in width and length. That being the case, I use the large grip modules. They allow me to get both hands on the grip comfortably, whereas smaller grips do not have enough space to allow me to do so. On the medium grip it feels like my support hand is fighting to find enough space. The large grip module also makes the reach to the trigger a little longer which is more comfortable to me.

    P320 RX

Mine has been on since I bought it in July of last year. Still going strong. My impulse is to change it out, but I want to see how long it can go. Typically I will change out all the batteries on my optics and flashlights every six months, so this is a big stretch for me.
  9. Thanks for the heads up. Just ordered 10#.
  10. We're the bulged cases the same head stamp? I'm wondering if its a brass thing. The reason I say that is I know Yong has run 14# springs with coils cut off (he routinely pulls the kinds of splits you're talking about), and I think Mason Lane has run as light as a 12.5# recoil spring in his P320 (he's damn fast too).
  11. I don't have any experience with E3, but I can't say enough good things about Prima V. Its like TG, but without all the TG negatives like it being dirty and excessively hot burning.
  12. A little something you can start doing right away that will save you some time is to turn into your gun on turn and draw stages. It gets the pistol down range faster which will in turn allow you to draw it and get it pointed at the target sooner. Its a bunch of little efficiencies like that you can work into your game that will add up and save you seconds on some stages. Something to do in the future is take a class from one of the top shooters. Its like a light bulb coming on when they point out all the tricks they use to save time. Its nothing complicated, but they're things a lot of folks don't think about till someone points them out. You look like you're on the path. Keep at it, and good luck with your shooting.
  13. I don't know about N320 not being the same powder, though its not uncommon for powder characteristics to vary some from lot to lot. The stuff I've been loading with I purchased in 2015 and it performed similarly to N320 I bought in 2000. I ended up having to bump my load up to 4.2 from 4.1 to get my desired pf, but that could have just as well been a difference in barrels. At any rate, if you don't mind spending the extra money, you can't go wrong with N320. I think I mentioned it in a previous post, but I'm currently running Prima V for my 9mm loads. I really like it. Shoots soft, clean, and accurate with charges similar to Titegroup. Its also considerably cheaper than N320. My OAL for both the V-Crown and MG 124s was 1.10". There wasn't a specific reason for that length other than it worked in all my 9mm pistols, and it turned out it was a very accurate load.
  14. 3.7 or 3.8 should get you in the 130pf range. The 320 barrels are like any others in that some are faster and some are slower, but that charge should get you where you want to be regardless.
  15. I wouldn't say it was soft. It cycled the gun briskly, and it shot flat. The thing I liked about it was the sights tracked so quickly and consistently. It's also a crazy accurate load.
  16. I shot the exact same load last year and I was getting 131pf consistently regardless of conditions. I should add that was with a 124gr v-crown. I've loaded the same with MG and got them same results.
  17. My department switched from 40 to 9mm here in the last few years. A lot of research went into the decision, and it showed 9mm and 40 defensive loads performed similarly. However, there was a significant difference between the two calibers when it came to our officer's abilities to shoot them well. The 9mm was far ahead of the 40 in that category. Now, I know the 45 would likely be a bit more effective than the 40 or 9mm, but the problem with that is limited capacity, and the size of the guns. They're just too big for many folks to shoot them well. So, by switching to 9mm we gained capacity, and shootability over the 40 in a package that fits the majority of our officers very well.
  18. I'm shooting The Blue Bullets 135gr over Prima V. Regarding the slide velocity, I don't know if its moving even 10% slower, but its enough that I notice I'm able to track the dot better and drive it back on target faster and more consistently. I may come back to 124/125gr bullets for the Rx, but for now, while I'm learning to shoot with the dot, I'm liking the heavier bullet.
  19. If you're looking for a milder recoiling load than Titegroup, but less expensive than N320, you might want to look into Nobel Sport Prima V or Ba 9 1/2. I've been shooting the Prima V, which is comparable to TG, in 9mm and have been pleased. It's softer than TG, though it takes a similar load, but so much cooler and cleaner. I haven't messed around with it for .40 yet, but I imagine it would work well.
  20. What load are you shooting in it? I've shot mostly 124/125 gr bullets in Production, but like you, when I shot the same load in the Rx it seemed like it was really bucking around quite a bit. I should also mention I was running a GGI FAT Guiderod with a 14# ISMI recoil spring. I've since gone to a 135gr bullet with the same guiderod and recoil spring and its much more pleasant to shoot. The dot is much easier to track for my eyes. While I think the 320 shoots the 124/125gr bullets the best, a heavier bullet and slower cycling of the slide works better for me with the RX. Regardless, I have a lot of work to do with the Rx before I'm as proficient with it as I am with iron sights.
  21. I've been experimenting with Prima V and I am very impressed so far. I've been loading a Blue Bullets 135gr over 3.5 of Prima V. It burns cool and clean. Out of my 320Rx it shoots 2.5" at 25 yards if I'm doing my part. Right now I'm messing around with OAL to see if I can eek out some more accuracy, but I think this is the load I'll run this year based on results so far.
  22. I had a 5.25 in 9mm for a few years and I loved it. It felt great in the hand, pointed well, was very accurate, and the Springer Precision trigger could not be beat. However, I found it kind of tough to reload quickly on a consistent basis. What ultimately made me switch to the P320 was it had all the same attributes as the 5.25, but I found it much easier to reload. That being said, I do miss my 5.25 from time to time. It was such a good pistol and shot so smoothly.
  23. I don't have much experience with the SA or DW 1911s mentioned in this post previously, but I did recently get a CRP Trojan in 9mm from Dawson Precision here just a few months ago. Coupled with Dawson's mags the thing has run like a top. Not a bad way to go if that was what you decided on.
  24. I've shot a lot of the above load. Makes pf without fail, is accurate, and runs the gun well (P320, G34, and XDM 5.25) in my experience. A good recommendation.
