  1. I used a Dremel to put a S&A Magwell on a Para one time. It had to have about 1/8 inch cut off the bottom. I was real proud of my work. Now age has made my eyes so bad, I wouldn't attempt to do anything like that again. I would pay a gunsmith to do the work now.
  2. I pick up a lot of range brass. I have no idea how many times it has been reloaded or if it is once fired. I roll size all my 40 and 9mm on a Case Pro but have still had blow-outs like that. Just be glad you weren't hurt.
  3. I say if they shoot good, don't sweat the weight difference. I don't know anyone who tries to make power factor right on the button, so weight souldn't matter. I have seen some close calls at the chrono with the decision,"shoot the last one or pull it and weigh it" to make. If you know your bullets weight in a certain range, best to shoot the last one. Hopefully it never comes down to that close of a decision.
  4. I like HS6, it seems to be the right powder for major 9. I use 124gr MGHP with 8.4 to make major in a shorty gun.
  5. Welcome to the forum. Where in Minnesota, I have relatives in Southwest MN. Do you shoot outdoors in the winter? I bet it can get real cold there!
  6. Welcome to the addiction. Everybody here has an addiction and it seems to be contagious.
  7. That sounds like it might work. Was it used in a spray can like for spray painting cars?
  8. Welcome to the forum. I am originally from Illinois but retired to the great state of Florida. It is a gun friendly state, unlike Illinois. I enjoyed shooting there for 2o years and still have a lot of friends still shooting. Do you ever get to Oak Park Sportsmans club? They have USPSA and IDPA.
  9. Your getting good advice here. Don't stick your gun or arm into a port unless it is necessary. Same with a tube. I understand TGO hit a tube with his gun and dropped it resulting in a DQ.
  10. I have one just like it. The number on the side of the chamber is 430. I have the box which has a label on it but cannot make out all of it. ----- Shooting Line S.R.C. CANNA C. 9X21 IMI+COMPENSATORE X PISTOLA MODELLO 92 - 98FA CONFORME AL CATALOGO 1692 Hope this helps.

    Ruger LC9

Everyone I talk to now say these LC9s are hard to get unless you want one with a laser. Anybody hear any different.
  12. Did Springer change the stricker spring when they did a trigger job?
  13. Walking through a stage before you shoot it is very important so you can plan your actions. I have experience shooters that will try talking to you while you are prewalking the stage. Concentrate on your plan of action and don't change it. If you are one of the last to shoot and you see someone in your division shoot it a different way and it seemed to be better than your way, walk it again and get it instilled into your mind. I often hear "when the buzzer goes off I lose my train of thought". Concentration is the key factor. Don't let anyone or anything interfere with that thought. Walking by targets can happen if you are one of the first to shoot, but shouldn't happen after you have seen others shoot the stage.
  14. We have 3 Sunday matches a month at our range. $20 member, $25 non-member for 6 stages. Thursday night match consists of 4 stages for $10. Now I know why Thursday night matches have such a high attendance.
  15. I like the plastic target idea, but what about pasters sticking. That seems to be the problem with any rain-proofing material.
  16. Nobody likes to go to a match and have rain spoil it by having to "bag" the targets. Does anyone have a technique to make the targets somewhat water resistant so you don't have to bag the? I know they cannot be "waterproof" but enough to keep the heads from curling when they get damp. They also must be able to retain a paster when applied. This should get some people thinking.
  17. Stick with the 38 Super until you are sure that is the division you want to stay in. Since you shoot IDPA it is a great gun to compete with. I normally shoot a 45, but I get a wild hair and will shoot my 9mm, 38 super or my 40 in single stack just for the fun of it. I shot the Monster Match in Frostproof last year using my 38 super. This was a ten stage match with over required over 400 rounds. That meant at least 4 reloads per stage. I had a ball and happened to win the Single Stack division. (There were 3 of us). Get a major gun (40 or 45) when you get tired of losing because of the minor scoring. Until then, just shoot all A's and enjoy it.
  18. The big word is "freestyle". I also shoot IDPA but prefer USPSA. I am not knocking anything about IDPA but a stage is shot usually the way you are told. Normally you are not given any options as written in the stage briefing. A good USPSA stage will allow you to shoot it a few different ways, all of them being acceptable, depending on what division you are shooting. Shoot them both and give them ample time to decide what you like best. I still shoot both and have a great time, but prefer USPSA.
  19. Welcome aboard from another Floridian. It won't take you long to get hooked.
  20. I shoot Single Stack and that makes you think in 8s. On Thursday nights I usually set up four stages and try to make them Single Stack friendly. Then some hotshot comes in and breaks my stages and I find out a better way to shoot it, and I set it up. I don't care how long anyone shoots, you can always learn something.
  21. I had a chance to get a SP101 in 9mm a number of years ago and passed it up. Kicking myself ever since.
  22. I have a 9mm single stack with a 38 super complete upper that I switch out quite frequently. Having issues with the 9mm so have been sticking with the 38 super. I have another 9mm SS so not a big deal. I also have a .40 caliber upper for my Beretta 92/96 that works great.
  23. I usually scavage brass whenever I can at the local range. I pick up all loaded rounds, which I know other foragers do not. I must have a 5 gallon bucket full of live rounds. Now if I could find the time to seperate the case from the bullet, I would have quite a few to reload. Where does the time go?
  24. Me too, I ordered 6 boxes and had instant confirmation. Poor credit card, guess I will have to work some overtime.
  25. I get a lot of flat rate boxes of bullets and ship a lot of brass. Post office is close so that helps a lot.
