  1. There is one of these guys at every range. It doesn't matter if its USPSA, IDPA, 3 gun or a steel match, he is always there. If it bothers you then he has accomplished his mission. We have/had one at our range who complained about stages, about who he was squaded with, it didn't matter he complained. I really don't know what happened but now he is one of the best workers, donates a lot of time to building props and really tries to be liked. I am confused.
  2. Drillspot is a great place to get corn cob meal. I use it for final polish. I use rice to get the brass clean. A 50# bag from Sam's lasts a long time and really gets the crud off.

    Realize

The more props and action a stage has creates a whirlwind of excitement for me. Not as a shooter but watching other shooters trying to decide whether to take the disappearing drop turner or the swinger(which usually comes out first). I try to tell them to stick to their plan, doesn't help. Movement makes the mind do funny things after the buzzer and ends up taking its toll.
  4. My sympathies for your loss. My father in law was a corsair pilot off the New Lexington. Didn't talk about it much but was proud to be a navy pilot. God Bless them all.
  5. I have a Grand Raptor II that started doing the same thing, not extracting. I guess a tension gage or a new extractor is in order. Thanks for the infor.
  6. Welcome from a member of the SWFPS. Our range is located near Punta Gorda. If you ever get down this way look us up.
  7. There are some good matches at the WAC and at Hansen Range in Punta Gorda. Fort Myers Practical Shooters and Naples Swamp Rompers have matches 1st, 2nd and 3rd Sundays, every Thurday night(USPSA) and every Monday Night(IDPA) at the Hansen Range.
  8. I doubt that gun could break clay birds at 50 yards using a Ransom Rest.
  9. Had a vanity plate in Illinos, gun related in such a communist state and retire to Florida. I apply and get the same plate I had in Illinois. The person handling my request could not believe the plate was available.
  10. 125 is the minimum. What gun are you shooting? Sometimes trying to get to minimum PF will hinder the operation of the gun. Will the gun go to slide lock on the last shot? Are the empties ejecting properly? Minimum is not always optimum.
  11. Shoott 300-400 rounds a week and take that times $7.00 per thousand. It does add up. I like VV powder but it doesn't make sense to shoot it when others with do the same thing.
  12. Dave C, I really don't like to load that heavy a bullet that short (1.135). I like the idea of using Ramshot Competition but would load them out for my single stack and limited gun. The rule of thumb is to load them out the the weight of the bullet. 180gr=1.180 200gr=1.200 220gr=1.220 You get the idea. This applies to major power factor. I have never shot this heavy a bullet in my XD tactical but the 140gr and 175gr I have. Would I have to increase the powder much if I loaded them longer?
  13. Same problem here, even after sharpening the decapping pin. As stated by njl, it usually comes out the second try. One thing is, remover the case that has been charged with powder before trying to decap it the second time. You will have a double charge round, not good. You don't have to remove the bullets in the seater and crimper station as it will not affect them.
  14. I have used WST in all different weight lead bullets for the 40. From 140,175, 180, 200 and 220gr bullets. It seems to be the best economical powder for the 40. It is reverse temperature sensitive but not usually a problem.
  15. With the influx of Major 9mm, you will find a lot of "swollen" brass at the range. I have gone to using a Case Pro on all my 9mm and 40 S&W. I have had the Case Pro for about 15 years but recently purchased the 9mm dies. Best money I have spent in a long time.
  16. Is that the 4.5 or the 5.25? Also, how much do you think you have in extras to make it an open gun?
  17. Then when loading 9mm you fill the powder measure and it seems like it lasts forever. Sometimes you can get so engrossed in loading you forget to look at the powder and it runs dry. I had a couple old Dillon powder measures that got a brownish color on the bottom and could hardly see the powder in them. Got rid of those and now have the new style.
  18. Shot my first match with my new 5.25 XDm with 147gr SnS Cast Bullets with 3.6gr of Ramshot Competition. These seemed a little hot and was wondering if anyone else is using this powder. I didn't load many so I am open to suggestions. I do have WST and Titegroup but would like to stick to the Competition powder. I can find many loads for WST and Titegroup, haven't seem much with Competition.
  19. I know the XD and XDm are considered production guns in USPSA but are ESP in IDPA. It is said the safe action of the XD/XDm is not the same as the glock therefor placing it in ESP. Does that about sum it up?
  20. I love N320 and use it for 40 and 45, but for 9, I will go with the cheap stuff I think N320 is expensive. I use cheaper powder for all my reloading.
  21. What do you mean by follower?
  22. SNS Casting is the best lead bullet on the market. I shoot them exclusively and couldn't be happier. Price is right and they take care of the little guy.

    Bullets

I have been told the following, someone please let me know if this is true. FMJ and CMJ are molded by pouring the lead into the mold with the nose down which could allow a distortion in the base of the bullet. This distortion could cause the bullet to "wobble" therefore accuracy could be affected. HP bullets are molded by pouring the lead into the mold with base down. Any distortion in the metal would be in the hollow point end of the bullet. The base of the bullet is uniform and would be more accurate. Is there any truth to this or has somebody been trying to feed me a line?
  24. I agree with a neutral starting position. Faulty stage design has DQed more shooters than necessary. When I design stages for our weekly matches, I try to give the shooter the option to start anywhere. No issues with lefties or righties.
