  1. the bays are all pretty close. range cart is always nice, but definitely not necessary at this range.
  2. storm cases have worked great for me when traveling.
  3. i had the exact same problem with some of my open mags. i came to the same conclusion you did b/c the only mags that would do it were the ones that i could flip up the top round vertically. Jake... i dont get double feeds anymore and i want to make sure i dont do anything to cause them. so i was wondering how shooter error could cause this? appreciate any info!
  4. Howard recently overnighted (at his expense) my mags so i would have them in time for area 5. i was very impressed by that, awesome service!!! oh yeah, and the mags are freakin' amazing!
  5. any chance there will be a squad list/schedule at the thurs night meeting? i would be nice to see which GMs are shooting on thur and fri
  6. i believe this statement is from starline, its on midways website... "Nickel plating has been known to be very abrasive on reloading dies."
  7. there is a thread in the gallery called "reloading benches." that should give you a ton of ideas about benches, and using space wisely! and from someone who reloads in an apartment...it is no problem! as far as lead exposure, keep the area clean, wash your hands and separate cases outside. reloading benches
  8. i was at a local gun shop open house today when i noticed there was a training model glock at the glock vendor table. it had a red frame with a black metal "training" top end, i cant remember what the model number was on it, but it was something i hadnt seen before. the neat thing about it is each time you pulled the trigger it would fully reset, never had to rack the slide once. the breach face did not have a hole for the firing pin, so there is no way to have and AD. i did a search and didnt find any info on it here and when i asked the glock representitive about it he surprisingly didnt know much about availability. all he could tell me was they were probably as much as a real glock... anyone here know any more about these?
  9. i had no problems recently flying with American Airlines. maybe i am looking at this wrong but... as far as problems go, isn't the potential problem more with the TSA person on duty (which i am assuming is not specific to an airline) than with the airline itself. the only interaction you have specific to the airline is the ticket check in person, who has nothing to do with inspecting baggage (right???). so as long as you comply with what the airline posts on their website, isn't TSA the only one that can give you a trouble? someone correct me if they have experienced otherwise...
  10. awesome pic Yamil, but only one?! i know you got some more...lets see em'
  11. i use Starline 38 supercomp brass. dont know about the SP-2...
  12. just out of curiosity why is everyone saying this load is way too hot? is it b/c of the IPSC PF >160? i run 9.3-9.4 gr. of VV 3N38 which gets me to about 175PF...i thought alot of shooters run in the 170-175 range.
  13. +1 to what most have have said here....no holes for me.
  14. you wont be disappointed! :popcorn1:
  15. i too was having a similar issue with my open gun (38 supercomp). the gun just seems to shoot flatter and track better at 178 PF than it does at 170 PF. is it ok to consistently shoot 178 PF loads through an open gun, or am i doing damage to it??? or at least wearing it out quicker??? (if it makes any difference i use slow powder such as 3N38, so pressures shouldnt be getting too high)
  16. well it sounds like everything should be fine. thanks everyone for the quick responses!!!
  17. i guess i am not too worried about the M-Pro 7 since it says non-toxic, non-flammable etc... but the TSA lady said the gun oil will probably not be allowed even in checked luggage! i dont know why, its not shipped as HAZMAT or anything when it comes in the mail. the label on the FP 10 says something about containing petroleum hydrocarbons. i can just see them using that as a reason to not allow it. so has anyone actually taken oil on a flight (checked baggage) and what did TSA say about it, if anything at all? thanks for any responses!
  18. i have read the prohibited items list on american airlines and talked with the TSA people at the local airport, but i still dont know if it is ok to fly with gun oil (FP-10) or some M-Pro 7 gun cleaner (non-solvent and non-aerosol)? anyone have any trouble with either of these?

I talked with howard the other day about getting a couple mags tuned and polished. very nice guy! even helped me with some gun issues i have been dealing with!
  20. 2nd. the gun looks too flat in the 3rd pic. Great work as always though!
  21. why is it that too short OAL can cause this type of feeding problem, you would think that too long would do it?
  22. since capacity is not an issue in USPSA production division both the .40 or .45 (loaded to minor) would be fine. the .40 probably would be cheaper??? i am not sure about this but i thought i would bring up the following: since you mentioned that you will be using the same gun for duty and competition you MIGHT have to use a lighter recoil spring when you shoot minor .40 compared to duty/defense .40 loads?
  23. Z, i just want to make sure i understand the issue... i am assuming the professional shooter does not apply to D,C,B,A and M class shooters b/c there are few to none in these classes. so is your proposal to distinguish the amateur (non sponsored) GM from the professional (sponsored) GM?
  24. ok, i figured out the scope bases. i didnt realize the rear base had windage adjustment, which happened to be way off... so how about any thoughts on the other questions... i went to cabelas today ( i know, probably not a good place to be asking this) and asked about 308 bullet weights and twist rates. on salesman said he uses 180 gr in his garand with a 1:16 twist, and gets good groups at 300 yards. i didnt think 1:16 would be fast enough to stabalize a 180 gr bullet. Another fellow told me i should be using 147 gr in a 1:12 twist barrel??? for bench rest shooting, is there one specific bullet weight to use with a certain twist rate? Or is it just trial and error with different weights to see what groups well with your particular rifle?
