  1. Way to go Nick!!! it does not surprise me after seeing your last video, CONGRATULATIONS!!!
  2. the first time i flew to a match i did the whole shipping ammo thing. since then i realized it is much easier just to bring it with me as checked baggage. the airlines limit you to 11 lbs, but i have never had ammo weighed and usually bring more like 13-15 lbs. i use the Dillon plastic ammo containers and have never had a problem.
  3. I think we all still need to know what will the gun be used for: competition? if so, what division? self defense at home? carry gun? answers to your questions in the above post depend on too many variables. In a perfect world the more expensive/custom built gun should be more accurate and more reliable than a cheaper "off the line" gun. however, this is not always the case. i have seen many custom built guns and "off the line" guns jam/fail for one reason or another. On the other hand i have seen custom built guns and "off the line" guns run flawlessly for many many years. below is a thread exploring the justification of expensive guns in competition compared to glocks. It might not be what you are after here, but it brings up some interesting points. http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?...c=59740&hl=
  4. Im assuming the IR chrono is the "coffin chrono"??? if so my regular ($99) chrono has been +/- 3 PF from what i get at major matches, using montana golds. Michigan shootist brought up a good point, what powder was he using?
  5. +1 for the bathtub followed by newspaper method. I did that after the first day of shooting at the Arkansas state championships, and by the next morning the shoes were pretty much clean and dry.
  6. you got a hell of a deal! welcome to the forum
  7. again, thank you and all the staff for putting on such a great match. i hope to see you at the Texas State Open! Will
  8. Im still thinking about the water sloshing around the floor of my rental car as i drove from the Space City range on Saturday. One hell of a good match though! Im looking forward to a warm and dry Albuquerque!
  9. as cheap as they are i will probably get one anyway, but anyone have any pics looking at the dot with and without the glare shield? does it just get rid of the "flares" that are all around the dot, making it round instead of "starburt"?
  10. i have never seen rain like this. The water was up to my knees when i was walking back to my car, which was also flooded. Good thing i got the optional insurance, hope it covers this
  11. In 2007 it was counted as a classifier (for open division at least) i think there were 8-9 open div GMs...
  12. Ed is one of the nicest people i have ever meet. throughout my gun build, he has patiently spent many many hours going over options and exploring ideas that i come up with. He really does build a TRUE custom work of art!
  13. welcome to the forum! deciding btwn the 550 and 650 will depend on a few things such as: how much you are shooting (rounds per month)? and do you plan on loading multiple calibers? if you are considering the 650 with case and bullet feeder you might want to think about just getting the 1050 without the bullet feeder. i realize alot of people might disagree with me, (especially if you are new to reloading), but honestly, i dont think the 1050 is anymore difficult to use or troubleshoot than the 650. I started with the 550 and shortly after upgraded to the 1050. I only load one caliber and want to spend as little time as possible loading, the 1050 is perfect for this. I wish i would have just bought the 1050 to begin with. keep in mind the 1050 isnt the best for multiple calibers. just my experience...YMMV
  14. Federal small rifle are the only primers i use in my 38 supercomp major loads.
  15. the online pics of the hotel looked alright...i guess they can show whatever they want. is it at least clean or are we talking cheap motel quality? about how far is the comfort inn from the range?
  16. Techwear is a match sponsor this year. But we are not making any shirts this year as we want to putting that money into the prize table. This really sucks. Now not only will I not get anything off the prize table. I won't even have a shirt that says I was there. It would be nice if the MD would only have to worry about the match. And not dedicate so much time to things other than the match. Charge less for your match and the shooters can go bye there own Gunscubber. My 2cents Duane I can understand where Carl is coming from about putting more money towards the prize table, which is great, but i am going to miss the match shirt. the techwear shirts last year were very nice and sometimes when things dont go your way at a match its always nice to at least have a cool match shirt to walk away with. Maybe they can still be made and sold at the match to whomever wants one??? heck, they dont even have to be tech wear, just regular polo shirts are great too!
  17. is the Brownells trigger job info a free download? I couldnt find it on their site...
  18. when they were in Vegas... "were looking for things not to do...to do" that and the smallest car in the world episode!
  19. for a very brief time there was a +3/+4 base pad for 38super STI/SVI mags on their website and catalog. i think they were called the "just right" base pads. i dont know what happened to it, but they looked distinctly different from the +1 and +2 base pads...
