  1. anything can be had for the right $$$ talk to Bobby Keigans or Matt Cheely or other machinists
  2. are you sure these are legit…I've heard of counterfeit ones floating around
  3. For the price of a GM you can get a CKArms and get a much better gun Not familiar with CKArms?…it's a joint venture between Bobby Keigans and Matt Cheely to build a one size fits all Custom gun….they can build them faster since they don't have to retool between builds and their goal is to have them sitting on the shelf waiting at the time of order….you just don't get any options (other than optic)…it's their version of what an open gun should be. http://www.ckarms.com/products/open/
  4. I'm signed up…hopefully it goes agreed on the www.matchsignup.org …..dont know why you wouldn't use it…it's basically free and you get paperless registration, squadding, fees handled, and advertising
  5. Welcome to the CKArms family…I run 7.7 gr Autocomp on a Zero 115gr jhp at 1.165…that length pushes it in a STI mag with a spacer but runs well in my old style SVI mag….soft and flat
  6. I wish I was in a higher tax bracket because I'd have a back-up Identical to my main gun.
  7. Mounting ANY electronic sighting device on top of a slide is asking for failure, IMHO. I have 2 open pistols with slide mounted Optics.· The first one was done by SHPD (built around 1997-98) where the Optima weaver mount was trimmed down and screwed in to the slide retaining the locator points between the mount and optic to aid in not losing zero when changing batteries. I have changed batteries thousands of times and never lost Zero. This Optima was a replacement under warranty when the first lens became loose in the body, no issues since on this optic. However as the Fire Point described below the electronics is becoming tired I will be replacing it with a second Delta point sometime this year. · The second one has the Arredondo double battery package that Arredondo milled the slide for this has locator points machined in to the slide. I have changed batteries thousands of times and never lost Zero on this set up either. This has had a Fire Point picked up on close out, no mechanical issues on this optic but the electronics were becoming tired; the dot is not as bright as it uses to be even with a double battery. I replaced it with a Delta point in 2010. · I know of 5-6 other open pistols with slide mounted Optics built around the same time period of 1997 -2000 three with Dr Optics and the rest with Optima/ Jpoints that are all still working without any optics related issues. So in 17 years and hundreds of thousands of rounds I “destroyed “ one sight and retired 2 for reticle brightness, that may just be a representation of the advances the manufactures are making in their electronics over the past 17 years. What exactly is your failure rate with slide mounted optics that your opinion is based on? Out. 2011BLDR Whoa, I do not have near the experience you have! Nor have I ever used a Dr. or Optima/Jpoints. I withdraw my opinion My only experience is with Burris Fastfire's, I went through 4 of those in one year. I went through 3 Maybe it's just Burris
  8. Well I can now account for some of my misses last Saturday. got to the match last night and first stage was all fairly close paper and all my hits were Charlie delta to the right. I began to be suspicious of the cmore. Next stage had several mini poppers and I could not hit them. Now I was pissed. Took an RO with me to an empty bay and took a static head shot from 15-20 yards. 2 shots not even on paper. 2 more shots to torso way right. The cmore had moved! 6" to the right!! I re-zeroed and finished the match with good hits and no mikes. How does that happen and can it be prevented?
  9. Hahaha...slow down, balance, and speed up.....about covers all the possible remedies I have no idea why the misses. I can call a miss on production, but I swore I had good dot on paper on 90% of these misses. Maybe I am pulling off to fast. Maybe not seeing the second shot like I should. I think I agree with motosapiens and OpenB. I need more practice, and not during matches, to learn more about open. Slow sux with these guns
  10. Ok so I'm new to Open. I have shot primarily Production for 6 years. I am a high B 73%. I have put about 800 rounds through my new open gun in 6 matches so far. At first I was shooting slow and deliberate, no mikes, like production and everyone kept telling me to speed up, trust the gun. Well there seems to be no middle ground with me. Now I'm hauling ass, running times like the A and Master shooters I shoot with, but missing. Do I slow down and watch the dot more deliberately or keep the speed up and see if the hits come with more trigger time?
  11. You've got some reading to do. Forget the compensator...you won't be competitive in open Try these websites http://stores.sjcguns.com http://www.bb-enterprise.biz
  12. This gun was 3500$ CKArms...a partnership between Cheely and Kiegans of FGW I have one and everybody who has shot it is highly impressed
  13. I buy all the components and take my recipe to a local reloader who charges me to pull the handle. It works well for me.
  14. CKARMS http://www.ckarms.com
  15. There were 4 sellers on gunbroker with autocomp yesterday. $40+ per pound but it was there
  16. Bad idea. Make up a miss Make up a no shoot Clear a malfunction All require extra rounds Heavy mags drop better if reload required Some mags aren't 100% reliable loading the last round
  17. As a beginner if you must move right to left reload and then run. Some guys say that's faster anyway.
