  1. Going downrange at the indoor matches always gave me the creeps because of all of the downrange dust and exposure. To the point where I stear clear of those matches now. Nothing scientific, just my own craziness in thoughts.
  2. Nice graphic above! Focus through the dot at the target. Dot will appear super-imposed on the target.
  3. Better, moore consistent accuracy and lockup.
  4. Cone comp allows for 360-degree lockup verses the top and bottom wedging of the bull barrels.
  5. I would look at the particular 1911 vs the particular 2011 and not both as a group. Maybe ther 1911 is not built as well as the 2011?? Maybe other factors in volved as well.
  6. Never knew there wasd a fitted barrel for a Glock! Does it perform any netter than a non fitted Glock barrel???
  7. That is quite possible. However, I have been around long enough to have seen a lot of things come into the sport that at one time no one ever thought they needed.
  8. Lossening your grip as you trasnition between targets is a time waster and just something else for you to have to do or think about. Loosening your grip while momving or reloading is fine and at times needs to happen. Like me, we tend to get caught up on some things that may or may not play out during a stage fo fire. If you have several targets to engage from one area, I am guessing it would be hard to get your mind to consciously lessen your grip during that particular string of fire. Much the same as it would be somewhat difficult to not tighten your grip after a relaod and while bringing ther gun to target.
  9. I am surprised that the 2011 pastic frmae/grip manufacturers have not made a flat trigger guard that can accommidate more than one finger. I have never been a fan o f the single finger method, but if the front of the trigger was larger and two could be used, that seemsd like a lot of downward torque could be applied.
  10. I tend to focus on one set-up, one division at a time for the most part. Doesn't mean you cannot, just is how I have been doing it for years now. Cost is a huge factor as well.
  11. Shot what you have. I started out years ago shooting the only handgun I owned and it was one I carried. I would suggest giving the Glocks another go, though. I agree with the notion that a longer sight radius gun will shoot better, however, I have a Kahr K40 that I have carried for years and that short pistol is freakishly accurate and easy to shoot. Round count will be the biggest hindrance at a match, as well as lack of magazines.
  12. I have used both and both are quality hammers. The first production run of the Keonig hammers were to thin and cracked. Once they fixed that issue they have been bullet proof for me.
  13. Never been a fan of the scooped draw. Takes longer to get on target, scooping motion has to be stopped at the top of the motion to not overrun the target, and if a bad habit to get into for defensive carry. Gun up and out and punching towards the target has served me well.
  14. I have competed with several different weapons through the years - race guns to stock guns. I carry a Glock 23 most of the time. I might be switching to a Glock 19 one day though. Reason for carrying the Glock and not a single action gun (one like I compete with) has a lot to do with the Glock having less levers, internal safeties, and a heavier trigger pull. I would not be against upgrading the trigger possibly, but nothing too aggressive. I just have never owned a competition gun that I thought would make a great defensive carry pistol.
  15. I remember a LONG time ago when guys where going with the light and fast guns thinking it would speed up target to target shots. I am sure it will change again one day.
  16. It takes time for the brain to catch up with the eyes while you are having to think about so many other tasks like where to stand, when to reload, order of targets, etc. I cannot remmeber the very accomplished shooter who once said that he is finally seeing things well. Takes practice.
  17. Just taking a second to say hi! Thank you for the add.
