  1. Ive gone back and forth over the years whether to deprime or not before cleaning. Sometimes I do it, currently I dont. I like the primer pockets clean but I used to single stage the depriming and thats just endless hours of production time lost. Now that I have a 650 w case feeder, Im thinking of getting a second toolhead and setting up just a depriming/sizing die. I can then lube the brass, throw in the case feeder, size and deprime everything, then clean in the sonic. Not only would it resolve the depriming issue but it will also take care of not having to lube and then clean off the finished rounds.
  2. In my ransom rest testing and with all things being equal other than the brand of brass used, I do see differences in shot group sizes.
  3. I tested N320 a couple weeks ago with 115 fmj's. Was not impressed with it. Just sort of middle of the road results in the different powders Ive tested so far. For as expensive as it is; I was expecting to see it do better that anything else.
  4. I went to reload the other day. Started the session by letting the scale warm up, calibrating and weighing the powder charges. I use the armanov clickable dial on my hopper and had to lower it 6 clicks just to get back to my weight charge. I always feel weird about making adjustments due to humidity changes. It just doesnt seem consistent to me.
  5. You shouldnt need this if set up correctly but many have used work arounds to make sure the dropper assembly pulls back down on the Mr Bullet Feeder. Armanov just started selling an upgrade accessory that does just this
  6. Congrats, if ya need help just ask. They can be a bit finkey in the beginning until ya get everything adjusted right
  7. Thanks EEH. So a screw threaded through the side to hold it in place? Is this change permanently making the die belling only? I will need it to work both with and without the powder hopper
  8. But after shipping costs, how much are you getting?
  9. I do the same as far as leaving powder and primers in the station. But I do start each session with calibrating my scale and weighing the charges and do see the weight change day by day as others have pointed out. I was wondering if perhaps re-bottling the powder resolves the problem. Or perhaps something simple such as sealing the hopper better.
  10. Do you happen to have a part number for that and also with just that piece connected to the die, will it hold the flaring die in place? I was thinking that plus the E.C. quick disconnect to screw on it would allow me to bell casings without the powder hopper in place when testing new seating depths
  11. In regards to this; does everyone re-bottle their powder and clean out there hopper after each session or just leave the powder in the hopper?
  12. Was wondering about this myself. I have two 5-gallon buckets filled w 9mm brass - all same caliber and brand (blazer brass). The one bucket is cleaned and primed, the other not (at least yet). Is it worth selling and shipping or better just to scrap it?
  13. Alive and well w a horde of new primers. I really wasnt expecting some stranger to be able to show up w primers ive been unable to get for over a year in a 70 mile radius. And of course 5 hours before we are supposed to meet my !@#$ local gun shop posts on facebook that they now have the primers in stock. They've been on order by the store for like a year and a half. I immediately left work to go buy some from the shop thinking that a surer thing than the stranger. I also wanted to keep my word w this guy though; so I winded up doing both. Im now sitting on like 20 boxes of the stuff. Ive been searching for them so long that now im hesitant to start loading them and just wanna horde them
  14. For the sideways primers I agree. I did something to it recently (not sure what) that it started flipping them again. As I said I know how to adjust it - im not worried about that. It would be easier though if I could see whats in the tube or at least transfer it to something to see how there lined up
  15. Had mine working great and all of a sudden started having big problems in the last week. I wasnt even getting any flipped primers just the occasional sideways one which may have been the press itself but even that was perhaps one every 200. Now Im up to 25-30% flipped and sideways. Sadly I cant even remember if I touched something to mess it up. I know what to do to adjust it; so Im not too worried about that. It does have me wondering though is there an easy way to test after making adjustments; other than fully running them through the press that is? I was thinking perhaps taking the rf100 tube and filling into a see-through pickup tube or tubing or some such. Just so you can look at it all and see if there are any flipped/sideways ones
  16. I have the Mr Bullet Feeder - with 2in1 Seat and Crimp die. It works great as long as its adjusted properly; and its not hard to adjust it correctly and I still have my powder checker in place. I also have the RF100 Auto Primer Filler and a round counter. According to the rate per hour, Im going at 1,200 rounds per hour but actual output is around 1,000 rounds per hour with stoppages to fill the primer tube and occasional correct or check something. I think I could push it faster but this is a comfortable pace. You mention your doing 500 rounds per hour currently. Does that include the time spent filling primer tubes? My point is simply with both the bullet feeder and RF100 you are more than doubling your output rate
  17. I had made a post on a state gun group on FB last week looking for Federal small primers. Someone contacted me and said they can get them and is supposed to be meeting me tonight at a gas station to sell them to me. If I disappear, avenge me (and blame federal)...
  18. Im not debating anything you are saying. This is all a learning experience for me and I am trying to understand WHY the results seem different in this one instance. I dont believe I implied that the results would be the same for other projectiles. But yes I will be testing other projectiles in the future.
  19. Ill have to check my logs but i think i stayed under 1300
  20. Interesting but wondering why its the only one out of five powders that had this effect in that velocity range then.
  21. I re-tested a load workup of CFE over the weekend. 20 rounds of each charge weight from 5.0 to 5.4g (2 shot groups of 10 rounds each) @ 25 yards from a ransom rest. I was using Hornady 115 FMJ's and starline brass, 1.15" oal. This was my second testing just to confirm my first test before deciding to start bulk loading this powder. Again it shot great and im a new convert to CFE. The only oddity that I ran into and this isnt necessarily a bad thing is that it seems to like the lower charge weights. All the other powders ive tested so far; normally shoot better in the faster ranges. The CFE in both test had the best groups for me at 5.0g around 1090 fps / 125 power factor.
  22. You were about an hour late with that post. I wouldve EC before armanov My armanov one was very tight and I just sort of shoved it down in there. May be a problem to get out if I ever need too.
