  1. It's obviously a phishing scam, just delete it. If there's an "unsubscribe from future mailings" never click that. It just tells the spammer that this email was actually read by a real person and confirms your email address as being valid. Sometimes those will even get you on to other lists.
  2. I ended up installing the bearing tonight and clipping 1 coil off the detent ball spring to smooth it out just a tad more. No more powder spillage (loaded 100 rounds) and the shell plate rotates nice and smoothly. Brian should include these bearing and thrust washers in the "as it should be" kit.
  3. There's a few more here http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=e42_1209182265 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=428_1208108760 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=501_1204065796 http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=fb9_1178994075
  4. For those not able to watch, there's a few stages posted here: http://www.youtube.com/user/HuskySig
  5. I have the original (unclipped) detent ball spring and will be trying it out tonight or later this weekend, since the parts arrived the other day.
  6. That's exactly what I'm doing right now
  7. Welcome to IDPA, your new addiction Most of the stages I've shot don't require shooting while advancing, most often it's while you're backing up, or moving laterally. I think backing up is harder than advancing, but it's all fun. I take it you're doing some dry firing now? There's a range diary forum if you want to keep track: http://www.brianenos.com/forums/index.php?showforum=155
  8. Thanks for the info! Just went onto to the Brownells website and ordered the Dlask. I like the size of the factory trigger (short I believe) but felt there had to something out there a little better. Thanks again, Brian Are you going to fit it yourself? If so, please post back with how it went. I've been eyeballing the dlask trigger myself... thanks
  9. I'm with Kyle and Bill. I almost look forward to bad weather because while (almost) everyone else is complaining and reinforcing the point that they'll have a bad performance, I just chalk it up as one of the things I cannot change, so I ignore it and just get on with it. I've had some of my best performances in bad weather. Edit: I actually don't think of the weather as good or bad anymore. I think of it more along the lines of "the current conditions", or temperature. But the temperature range has no positive or negative aspect to it, the conditions just dictate the choice of gear.
  10. While I don't know anything about Perry, I did once see a local political figure turn up at a shoot with a camera man to be seen throwing a few rounds downrange. People there were ooing and ahhing, but from his mannerisms, it was clear he wasn't actually a gun enthusiast, it was just a photo op for his campaign. I'm not trying to be a troll, Perry has supported the 2nd amendment: http://governor.state.tx.us/news/speech/10095/ so this is definitely legitimate and very nice to see.
  11. Very nice. Seems a bit faster too. Looks like they had it professionally done by a web design company (spindustry interactive), who at least got some of the most important "new website design" issues taken care of so that they maintain search engine traffic.

1hr DF tonight. I worked in some movement, snaking my way around the gym equipment. I also worked on reloads with retention, and then including movement. DF felt good tonight, perhaps it helped having an argument with the wife before hand so I could get fired up.
  13. Congrats Micah, I hope you can get the district choice worked out. So if you get the phd does that make you a GM of education?
  14. My golf is as good as my shooting, I can send projectiles downrange, or down the fairway and never find them again.
  15. The library building at my university was next to a police HQ building on one side and a military installation on the other. Bomb threats were not just pranks but real possibilities. I only got caught up in a couple thankfully.
  16. Thanks for posting this. I just started doing new shooter briefings and realized after reading this that it's probably a good idea to demonstrate the acceptable movements for drawing, LAMR and reloading. Better to nip it in the bud in the safe area than have to deal with bad gun handling on the line with live ammo.
  17. Another addition for sites hosting major matches and expecting a lot of people from out of town, would be names and contact details for local hotels. Also recommendations for food and since ranges are usually in more remote places, where the local grocery store, bank/atm, gas stations are. FLL911 - Circleville is about 45 mins south of Columbus OH, there, even better
  18. I've been building and marketing websites for over 10 years now and one thing I like to do is make them better. As I come across various range websites, it sometimes takes me a while to figure out where the range is. Sometimes, I even have to leave the range website and find the location from another site. Sometimes, all that's listed is the PO BOX mailing address. When sites do include the address, it's in a typical 3 line letter format which is awkward for users to copy and paste into their favorite map website. So here's a few suggestions: 1) Put the range location in a prominent place on the homepage and in a one continuous line format. For example: 8100 US 22 E, Circleville, OH 43113 2) If you don't want to do that on the homepage, please list it like that on the contact/directions page 3) A menu link to the contact/directions page may not be enough. It's ok to include a graphic or other link in the main body copy area of the homepage. 4) On the contact/directions page, please include the full address as before and not just a map image. If you do want to post an image, it's also helpful to post a link to any or all of the 4 most popular map sites: http://maps.google.com http://maps.yahoo.com http://www.mapquest.com http://www.bing.com/maps If you want to go one step further, you could go to these sites, enter your range address and include the link that takes the user directly to that page. From there, the user can pan/zoom, get driving directions and print them off. If you want to be extra helpful, you can write out driving directions from North, South etc. If your range has a discrete entrance, please also write about local landmarks or features that will also help guide new shooters to the range. It's also helpfull to include a photo of the range entrance so people will know what to look out for. If you know your lat/long coords, please also include those, since GPS devices are becoming a lot more popular these days. 5) When posting on forums, blogs, other sites etc about your club, include the city and state along with the club name. People familiar with the club know where it is, but the goal here is to attract new shooters to your club. This is especially important if the club name does not reflect the location, or can be confused with another location. For example, Big Darby Creek Shooting Range. If I enter [big darby creek] in maps.google.com it shows me a location which is nowhere near the range - the range is actually closer to West Jefferson. Thanks

I won ESP, but it looks like I screwed up a couple of stages so that put me 2nd overall, only 1 second behind first place. I took an SO class at Ashland Lake Gun Club, by Larry Wenger and had a great time. It seems that I was destined to launch myself into the gravel at some point this weekend, since it happened during the practical part of the course. The pieces of gravel were large and loose and trying to move between p2 and p3 sent me belly first into the gravel. Fortunately I retained the gun, kept it pointed downrange and kept my finger out of the guard so no ADs *phiew*. Not having an AD was the highlight of the day for me. Hopefully I'll get my SO card and be able to help out at the state match. Now, I have to get the USPSA rulebook out and study for the RO course in 2 weeks. Hopefully my head won't explode.
  21. Very nice and classy, great looking pistol.

Shot the IDPA match at Circleville today and it felt great. I didn't feel quite as pumped up as I sometimes do at matches, but it still felt good. I don't know if it's because the novelty is wearing off, or I'm just becoming more relaxed. On one of the stages I set off moving from P1 to P2 and my feet almost slid out from under me as the gravel shifted. Fortunately I saved myself from falling and made it to P2 safely. I remember once I had finished the stage that once I had arrived at P2, I engaged the targets and remained in the zone. The stumble hadn't thrown me mentally, which I was really happy about. The gun ran great with no problems at all. I think I put in some fairly quick stage times, so we'll see how the scores pan out.
