Yeah I dropped three headshots on stage 1 - that's a huge no no. In my defense, since our last dabble with the chrono I had upped the charge to 3.7gr getting ready for the state match and they were impacting low. All missed head shots were about 2 inches below the perf, so at least I was consistent I guess. Most of the guys around here are really accommodating. If I needed to, I could set it up after a match, or in a spare bay and have someone run me through it.

Well my second run was a lot better, especially after recentering my rear sight. I managed to miss a couple of headshots on stage 1 which cost me 5 seconds. I ended up missing Ex by 4.49s! Final scores were: (numbers in brackets are raw time and points down) Stage 1: 37.11 (27.61 - 19pts) Stage 2: 28.53 (22.53 - 12pts) Stage 3: 47.42 (38.42 - 18pts) Total: 113.06 (88.56 - 49pts) I was hoping to make EX, but I guess I'll have to get there another time.
  5. I think this is a very good option, kudos to you and to the match director for initiating this. At one of our local matches we had a guy who blew off some of the rules, he was a military veteran and kept saying loudly that he was not worried about his score and that he just wanted to shoot it his way. We told him that he can shoot it whichever way he wants but his scoresheet will still be marked per IDPA rules. We marked down every PE he earned. Whether a shooter accidentally or intentionally earns a PE or FTDR, it still should be marked down. The point I'm trying to make here, is that new shooters and visitors from other clubs are watching not just the shooter, but how the SOs handle themselves, and therefore how the club is run. Shooters don't have to follow the rules, but SOs should. I don't think it's healthy for a club to have local favorites or blatant disregard for the rules. What if some of those are safety rules?

Shot the IDPA classifier today, did horribly and got SS in ESP. When I went to score the targets after stage 3 I was amazed that I had some misses and a string of shots all down the right side of each target. That got me a lot of -3s and they add up really quickly. After most people had gone, I was going to run a buddy through it again and just to check on what was going on with my gun I took 2 shots at a target from 10 yards. Two holes about 8" right of center, huh? I looked at my sights and then noticed that the rear sight was way off to the right. The grub screw holding it in and gotten loose and I guess it kept drifting further and further over. Anyway, I got it recentered, tightened down the grub screw, took a couple of sighters to make sure it was somewhere close and reshot the classifier. Just waiting on the match director to email me on how that turned out. I remember seeing the target with all those shots on the right side and thinking "how the heck did *I* do that?" It was quite interesting to realize later on that it was actually an equipment issue. I didn't used to have a lot of confidence in my para, but as time went by and I did a couple of tweaks here and there, it's been running great. I guess since my first reaction was to blame myself, I must be feeling pretty good about it.
  7. Maybe I'll skip this then since my car that meets that criteria...
  8. Scott: Did you take the static targets before the swinger appeared for the first time? Or did it appear, disappear, then you took the static targets, then returned to the swinger when it reappeared? I know it was all happening pretty quickly, but if you pie out to take the static targets (I'm assuming that you're using cover), then as the swinger appears there may be a question of cover?
  9. BE: That really sucks. I'm sure when the account was set up back then, the processor set you up as a retail store to get the lower rates. Flex: Wow, it's pretty scary to think that they were able to steal that many cards.
  10. Last night my wife asked me about some strange charges on our chase account she found while checking our account online. I had no recollection of traveling to Mississippi and buying cosmetics, so we decided they were fraudulent and called Chase customer service, using the number on the back of the card. The person on the other end told me to call back after 7am because their systems were unavailable. My wife worked in banks for many years and was surprised at the response, so she called, but got the same answer. So now I just had to go to bed and hope that no one was going to rack up more charges on the card. This morning my wife called again and she was told that her card wasn't going to be closed and that she had to call all of the merchants to request our money back. They also had to leave the card open so that the merchants could process the refunds. HUH????!? Fortunately her brother is a branch manager at Chase so she called him to discuss. He got someone there to call their fraud department, immediately close the card and start getting the issue resolved. With cc fraud being extremely prevalent today you'd think that the Chase 24/7 customer service line would respond appropriately as well have a dedicated number posted on their website's contact page. I didn't think my questions were out of the ordinary and dealing with fraud is surely in their training. Even if they can't deal with it themselves, at least know who or where to pass the call on to. I've dealt with fraud issues at other financial institutions and I always got someone to start dealing with the issue during the initial phone call. The first course of action was always to close the card to prevent any more charges. Unbelievable.
  11. Yup. Considering he's on the right wall, he just swept the entire firing line and I saw another 2 targets out there in different lanes. Unfortunately the camera makes some people batty, even more so than the buzzer. I don't know what framerate that was captured in, but it doesn't look that smooth, perhaps the missing muzzle flash was lost between frames?
  12. Well I've heard people say that it's supposed to make you a better competitor, so I'm hoping my HF go up a notch or two at the next match

  14. Thanks to Gary for a great class, as well as Conrad and Fran for organizing
  15. Where did he go to school? -3 is not higher than 0 I had a case like this at the last match. I described it as the "best shot" so it avoids people getting confused with the numbers like that.
  16. Congrats! I have 3 daughters myself (11, 2.5 and 1.5), so I know exactly what you're going through right now. It's amazing how someone so small can affect you in such a big way.

I was reviewing the match video and found quite a lot of small issues which I need to address. It's really great to be able to replay it over and over again and look at the details. After that I did 50 mins of DF. Most of the work was on reloads, especially working on not dropping the gun as much. I definitely see the benefit and the difference. By keeping the gun up higher I see more of the magwell and can get back on target quicker and more consistently. The reloads also seem to be a bit more consistent, which is perfect. I'm happy with the way that they feel - it's not at all foreign or awkward. I also moved my mags a bit further back to make sure that they're legal for the state match. I have a classifier on the 22nd, so I was also working on strong/support hand only. I found that I seem to have more control over the gun if I don't fully extend my arm and cant the gun a little. And if that wasn't enough, I was also concentrating on the front sight and trying to work on follow through - per Flex's advice.

IDPA match at Pickaway went terribly today. I had a ton of mistakes and the reloads I was trying out were jamming all over the place. My gun was dirty, so that probably accounted for some of the problems. Despite the fact that I did horribly I had a lot of fun. Great bunch of people, as always. A bad day at the range is still better than a great day at work.
  20. In IDPA the trigger guard has to be behind the torso mid line, which is an imaginary line from your armpit to your ankle bone when you're standing straight. And on the other side the front face of the mag pouches also have to be behind the center line on the other side. Thanks for the tips, I'll work on a couple of things tonight.
  21. And some people complain about my stage design....
