  1. I tried this, but the gel cups were too slick for his coat.
  2. Suddenly, I want an open gun.
  3. Remove the mag release and bend the spring in a little. Don't go too much, as you want your mags to stay in the gun... Might as well polish the mag catch and the channel while you've got it apart.
  4. Oh wow, didn't realize he did all that. That's awesome.
  5. Maybe he just doesn't know Ben's IG handle. ?
  6. Like everyone else has said, dress in layers, use handwarmers, eat enough calories, etc. Hikers often say "Be bold, start cold" - You'll warm up as you go. Shooting is quite the opposite. Dress WAY warmer than you'd think you should. If you somehow manage to get too warm, you can always strip a layer off. Shooting is 99% standing around doing nothing to prepare for 30 seconds of performance. You won't be performing too well if you're frozen to the core.
  7. Are you going to cut the front of the dust cover, or leave that notch in the comp?
  8. Having shot a number of shadow 2's ranging from bone stock to full custom builds, I feel confident in saying that CZ got this gun pretty close to perfect out of the box. What I would recommend: 11.5# HS if you want to run fed/win, 13# if you don't wanna worry about it An extended firing pin and reduced power spring (CZC or CGW) for cheap reliability insurance Polish internals, including the leading edge of the FP retaining plate and hammer strut. A disconnector of your choice, if you really wanna get wild. Depending on how hot your ammo is, and how you like to see sights, a 10-12# recoil spring will be good. Other than that, grips and sights are all I'd change, but those are subjective. As far as the warranty goes - I wouldn't be worried at all.
  9. Try TCI. They're owned by safariland and work on Sordins all the time. They did my battery box when it failed.
  10. Generally five or six. We're limited on space. I'd shoot a 4 stage match if it were run well and the stages were fun.
  11. OP Edited in Steel Challenge. If that's why they're disallowing AIWB carry, fine. That's the rule of that game. Sorry OP. If you're interested in being hard headed about shooting AIWB at other matches, take it to the house. Be prepared for the potential that it doesn't go your way. Such is life.
  12. AIWB isn't against the rules, but breaking the 180 is. I'm not understanding how AIWB is a 180 concern. Also, if it's been three months, they're probably just hoping you're going to go away. Which, you definitely shouldn't do. You can either fight it, find another club, or just shoot OWB. Lots of people who play this game carry AIWB. Myself included. I promise you're not missing anything by shooting an OWB rig.
  13. How much is normal? Is there any good way to prevent it?
  14. Some clubs use randomize. Some clubs use instant. Hell, some have both scattered throughout the stages. Really, any time an RO picks up a timer, they should probably familiarize themselves with it, and if it's set to instant, maybe an internal "One Mississippi" after the STAND BY command might help. If it's set to Random, maybe just hit it while giving the Stand By command. Knowing the rules and enforcing them is important. Educating your shooters and your ROs alike is important, especially at the club level. If they're bad at their jobs, find someone else.
  15. Exactly, at least for me anyway.
  16. Unpopular opinion, but it's very true. I understand that sometimes MD's need help and they take what they can get, but a volunteer who's not doing the job well is more of a hindrance than a help.
  17. At my last club match, I got short beeped on almost every single stage by an inexperienced RO. The first one I figured maybe it was a fluke. The second one, I was pretty annoyed, but by that point I wasn't exactly in the frame of mind to stop and have a constructive conversation about the 1-4 seconds rule. I was pretty frustrated, but at no point would I ever stop myself and expect a reshoot. It's quite annoying when people don't know the rules, but all things considered, a fraction of a second early isn't really the end of the world. If you tank because of that, you've probably got bigger problems than a weak RO. Educate that RO and he'll probably never do it again. Had I not been in a really poor state of mind, I would have. Life goes on.
  18. After shooting it some more, and having some experienced CO shooters play with the setup, I guess the dip isn't as bad as I thought It was. It's there, but i'm being told it's really not that bad for what it is. I dont know if your slide is cut/lightened, but I suspect that might help a bit, over the dovetail mounted optic.
  19. This isn't a CO legal setup. It's just a normal s2 slide with a dovetail mounted DPP. So, it's definitely heavier. I'm already using a pretty worn in 10lb spring. Short of buying an 8lb from Wolff - I'm thinking the dovetail mounted DPP is just too heavy to get ideal results. And yes, I realize that the shooter (me) is a variable as well. While I haven't spent a ton of time behind the dot, I can notice a huge difference when shooting one vs. the other back to back. I'd like to think my grip is consistent enough from one minute to the next, but obviously there's margin for error there as well.
  20. I had considered that.... But... With the addition of a considerable amount of mass to an already hefty slide, I'd have a hard time believing it's behaving the exact same as it would with the irons. I think if there's a tiny bit of dip with irons, the weight of the dot's gonna make it worse to some degree, even if it visually LOOKS way worse than it is. After switching back and forth with dot and irons, I really don't see the irons dipping as much. But again, I don't have a ton of experience with a RDS on a pistol. I'll have to play with springs. I've got some old ones I can make lighter than 10, and I've got some heavier as well.
  21. Right. Gun runs fine with irons. But I also just added a whole bunch of weight to the slide... This is my first time playing around with a slide mounted red dot, and figured someone who's been down this road might have some input.
  22. Put a dovetail mounted DPP on my shadow 2 to play around and I'm finding that the dot dips pretty low when the slide returns to battery. There's a 10# spring in there now. I've heard that dots require heavier springs, but in my mind that would make the dot dip harder as there's more force returning the slide. Is there much I can do, or am I just dealing with a heavy slide with a heavy dot/mount?
