  1. I'm chopping the rear iron sight extension off too. I plan on it being under five inches total with the comp and closer to 4.25
  2. I am going to work on cutting my stock barrel after the US nationals this month. I am going to cut it off short, flatten the slide, cut that hunk of metal off the bottom of the slide then drill and tap it for a cmore. I am not woried about resale value because it is a tool that will be used and used hard.
  3. Yep, although I would chop and then take even more weight out of the factory barrel. KenD has done a version of that and it runs great, it looks like hell though.
  4. I'd like to hear this info also. As far as first hand knowledge goes, mine runs flawless. I do have one mag that needs some work, but with all the others it runs like a sewing machine.
  5. I don't know if the match primers are needed, but I was able to get them for the same price as the regular primers. I was just using what I had. Right now I am liking Ramshot TAC for powder. It meters well, is cheap and JP recommended it for my gun.
  6. KenD left out that it needs to be built like a tank. He carries his laptop with him everywhere, but never and I do mean never uses a case of any kind. He just throws it in the truck and takes off. I think he needs one of those military grade titanium cased models we see in the movies
  7. Here is a very basic and simple breakdown for 77 gr SMK The case price from Atlanta Arma is $745 and a case from midway for the Federal match 77 gr SMK is $1550 plus shipping. I can buy brass for $90 per K, bullets for $212 K, Fed match primers for $35, and powder for $60. That gives me a grand total of about $397 per K of 77 gr SMK. Depending on what you would have bought the cost saving add up quick.
  8. Which ever you get make sure it is light, reliable, and put a red dot on it. I say this because I have seen several dads put a 22 conversion on a haevy 1911/2011 frame and the kid could not hold it up for 5 runs in a row. Next I have seen kids quit because they were clearing jams more than shooting, and the red dot makes steel the most fun because they are no longer fearful of those small plates. I have put my old buckmark with a light tactical solutions barrel and cmore in the hands of a 8-10 year old and had to pry it out of their hands at the end of the day.
  9. Thanks. Just one more piece to order and I'll be cranking out some 69 SMK's to play with for a whole lot less than factory ammo costs.
  10. JJ, Tell me how you have the two 1050 heads set up. I have the extra tool head, dillon dies and a dillon trimmer I just need to know how to set things up. Thanks.
  11. Damn, late to the show as usual, where did the strippers go?
  12. Is that your dedicated steel challenge gun?
  13. Cool, the way I have been shooting lately I hope that 40K stretches way down the list
  14. It is 38 super right now and I want to make it a 9mm and a dedicated steel gun. That means a lot of slide lightening. I have a buddy with a milling machine and he is not afraid to use it.
  15. I could only get mine to fit on one frame that I owned. It fit really tight to begin with, but broke in after 100 rounds of mini mags. Now, while hard to get on and take off, it runs great. My question was that if you lap this kit to the frame, what does it do to the fit of your other slide?
  16. Since I did not have any luck selling my Stinger I want to rebarrel it and make a dedicated steel gun out of it. I emailed STI and they no longer have the barrel/comp parts availible. What 9mm barrel can I use? These come as bull barrels with a fixed comp, but they have an odd length I think. Should I just switch to a bushing type barrel with a cone comp to save more weight? Any ideas and help would be great.
  17. Good chance it blew some junk into the extractor tunnel that kept it from moving properly...probably more likely than actually bending the extractor. Glad to hear a minor cut was as bad as it got! Thank goodness for safety glasses! R P.S. you may want to consider loading your own ammo now Yep, when I first started a buddy of mine loaded my ammo also. After 2 squibs at an Area match I had a Dillon 650 on the way.
  18. This is what I was sent on this question: The 2010 Glock Gen4 guns are a major external and internal re-design of what Glock has offered in the past, and the following parts will NOT interchange with the Gen1, Gen2, and Gen3 guns: • frame, • slide, • trigger bar, • magazine catch, • recoil spring assembly, • back-strap assemblies, • trigger mechanism housing, • trigger mechanism housing pin.
  19. Thanks, I was having some issues before, but I think it was die related. I have since switched dies and the ammo looks good, I just get an occasional high primer. Do you tumble your ammo after loading since you use case lube?
  20. Doug are you getting a lot of varriance in your OAL? Are you having issues with high primers? I really didn't want to have to use case lube, but I might have to try it to smooth things out.
  21. I agree with Rolex, I have tried the numbers I have used in the past to call Jim with no luck. Even if he has stopped doing grips, I hope he is OK.
  22. OMG, that's a good one. I say that because I shot a sanctioned match where I asked the SO if I could do something and he said "No" that afternoon I watched him shoot the same stage and he did it the way he told me I could not. So, after that I just do it and if they want to give a PE then they have to show me in the rules where it was earned.
  23. I have seen way more single stack issues than I have double stacks. The only thing that has ever slowed down my double stacks has been questionable ammo or a broken part that I was not aware of due to my lack of knowledge about the gun.
