Leaving a position faster and sooner
SlvrDragon50 replied to Goodonpaper's topic in Handgun Techniques
Follow JJ on IG if you want to learn about agility. He's by far the best in movement IMO. He admits that he places high due to his movement ability, not his shooting ability. -
Alpha-X fit like a glove, til it didn't..
SlvrDragon50 replied to biggulp's topic in Gear & Accessories
If I recall correctly, the screw needs to be screwed in a correct amount otherwise the lock won't be able to activate! Unfortunately I can't remember the direction, but this would explain why it didn't lock even when the insert was removed from the holster. -
Forealz. After seeing that listing I don't pick up brass as religiously anymore unless it's all in a nice pile.

Alpha-X fit like a glove, til it didn't..
SlvrDragon50 replied to biggulp's topic in Gear & Accessories
Is the screw that's connected to the block loose? The one that moves up and down. Can you take a picture? -
Alpha-X fit like a glove, til it didn't..
SlvrDragon50 replied to biggulp's topic in Gear & Accessories
Can you clarify what you mean by no longer fit properly? Did it still slide into the holster without the lock? Was it a slow change to no longer fitting properly or the difference between one draw? One thing I didn't realize was that the screw for the block needs to be pulled up or it blocks the gun from being holstered. Really silly mistake but easy to overlook if you're new to race holsters like I was. -
I like my Racers a lot more than the Ghost 360s. No clue if the Race Masters are worth it, I'd lean towards no.

Awesome review emjbe, thanks. Didn't have the Leupold on my radar before, but I'll keep an eye for it. Also the C-More. A guy had a Swaro yesterday that I should have asked to take a look through. Kinda regret it now.

Micrometer Bullet seating die
SlvrDragon50 replied to jim m's topic in Dillon Precision Reloading Equipment
Redding is the most popular, but I recall someone here found it to actually not seat any more consistently than a standard die. -
Improving long range rifle shooting
SlvrDragon50 replied to SlvrDragon50's topic in Rifle & Shotgun - Technique
Ah I see the site is finally up. When I was zeroing my optic, arma-dynamics was down, and i couldn't download their targets. I was definitely using a target with far too small of a aiming point. -
Just get the Shadow 2 competition package if money is no problem.

Replace the hammer, disco, and install an 11.5# hammer spring.

Chit chat can have an effect if it’s not related to the stage. Usually I’m just talking with other shooters about plans or keeping to myself. I have found that I shoot worse when I am too low down the list as my stage plan is freshest about midway through the walkthrough. Usually it’s a problem of getting lazy and not running the stage plan mentally after every shooter. I do shoot production though so I am reloading more often, and I honestly think it can sometimes be easier as you usually just reload whenever you’re moving. Although I am unclassified I can usually keep up with the A and B shooters. The tip that helped me most with stage planning was counting rounds in the mag when shooting targets. I felt that really solidified the stage plan and reloads. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I am using AIM TiN low mass BCG with a TACCOM light weight buffer system with no problems.

Any suggestions on how to improve long range rifle shooting? Should I be looking for stance/grip or is it something that just comes with time? 1st match: didn't zero my optic, lots of misses. 2nd match: zeroed at 50 yards but the groupings weren't the best, that said it was all within 2". I'm doing okay with shooting rifle targets that are within 30-50 yards, but the half size targets that are 50 yards away I tend to only get one hit. I am using a Holosoun HS515C red dot. My difficulty seems to be with getting the rifle steady enough when my dot is on the target. I have limited experience with shooting optics so maybe I am just doing it wrong. Should I just pull the trigger as soon as the dot gets on target or do I need to wait for the dot to steady? And should you always use a wall to brace the rifle if available? It blows my mind how people are able to shoot up to 300 yards with unmagnified optics. I would love to make the move to magnified optics, but it's just out of my budget at the moment.

What is the best free float hand guard and why?
SlvrDragon50 replied to Joe Mamma's topic in Rifle - Technical
I would like to try out the Brigand Arms handguard. I am very happy with my SLR Helix though. If I want it to be slimmer, I just take off the Magpul M-LOK handgrips, but I like the added grip the grips give. Very pricey though. -
Here’s a few printable dryfire targets
SlvrDragon50 replied to MemphisMechanic's topic in Tips for Improvement
Thanks, these are awesome! -
My new sight from Dawson does it. Doesn’t really bother me too much since it shouldn’t fly out with the pin. Loctite as previously mentioned or if it has a set screw, use it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Wrist pain after a match using load 2
SlvrDragon50 replied to JamesY's topic in Rifle & Shotgun - Technique
If the pain is constantly on, you overtrained. I would strongly suggest you do some wrist PT to build the muscles in the forearm. Also stretch your wrists and improve ROM. Without actually doing the physical exams, I would guess a TFCC inflammation or tear. -
Oh geez, why would anyone do that??? Sounds like a terrible idea mixing loads. Regarding OP, I agree with the others. I don't think anyone will be able to react fast enough to tell the shooter to stop before they're able to fire the next shot.

Any cheaper options for basepads
SlvrDragon50 replied to Iaddrummer's topic in Multi-gun Gear & Accessories
Never seen a rebrand of TTI baseplates before. And for a CZ as well? I've been waiting to get a pair of extended base plates for my Shadow 2. -
Changing powders. Cheapest powder to make major. *help*
SlvrDragon50 replied to nikdanja's topic in 10mm/40 Caliber
Exactly what I'm waiting for. Their prices on powder and whatnot are usually so much cheaper that even if you need something urgently, it will come out cheaper than other stores if you buy enough. Went from loading 9mm minor to 223, and that was a rude awakening in seeing how long a 1 lb bottle lasts ? -

Way too expensive. What about the ETS? The Maglula is pretty easy to use as well. Caldwell has an interesting one too: https://www.cheaperthandirt.com/product/caldwell-mag-charger-universal-pistol-loader-661120100027.do?sortby=ourPicks&refType=&from=fn&ecList=7&ecCategory=120277
